I haven't seen us win a league game since Rochdale at home 2011. However I've seen us win a fair few cup games. I also have a shirt that has seen 2 wins and a defeat since Christmas. I bought a Mars Duo at the Liverpool game and offered to share it with my Dad, then ate it all myself.
I don't know if these are omens or extracts from my tedious autobiography, but either way I'm quite nervous about tomorrow now.
Be grateful.............I havent seen us win a league game or any game of any description since we beat Cheltenham 2-1 on 4th Nov 2007!

How about another poll for Whitaker or Wellens?
Lee hands down so far. Surely Eardley or Lee would have been a more fitting poll?

No doubting its a massive 3 points, but its only a massive 3 points if we can back it up with another 3 points on Saturday. Have to say I expected us to get nothing from this game and it was a fantastic reaction from the players. They have been slated and rightly so this season, but they deserve to be praised for the way they have pulled their finger out since PD resigned. They have shown what they can do, they now have to knuckle down and grind out similar results over the next couple of months.
Well done TP and all concerned tonight!

Losing 2-0 @ home to Swindon ha ha funny
But still only 2 points off top! I know where I would rather be!

Exactly, with the height we have with m'voto, tarky and smith etc, we should be a threat.
Some of Grounds deliveries on Saturday reminded me of Neil Pointon. Every time i have seen us this season we persisted with Croft's rather crappy corners so nice to see us using Grounds to mix it up a bit
-
Come on lads, we can do this!
Another goal from a corner as well by the looks of it. Thats 2 in 2 games which considering how :censored:e we have been from corners in the past is quite an achievement!

Any odds yet? I'd say dickov will b amongst favourites
Or Dowie

Just checked it out and he is under contract with Southampton until 2014, what are the chances if we stay up of keeping him after this season?
Clearly Southampton are not going to play him in the Prem and they didn’t use him in the Championship either so definitely surplus to requirements.
How much do we think he is on? Could we afford to keep him???
Similar to Derbyshire, they are happy to have him playing, put himself in the shop window and they will probably hope they would be able to sell him for a half decent fee at the end of it. Unlikely he would stay even if we did stay up, but for the moment its a win win situation for everyone concerned.

He looks absolutely shattered and exhausted! Think a few months away from the pressure will do him the world of good!
-
Ha its funny, When I saw we got over 4,000 i actually thought that was actually a decent attendance!
-
Did anyone else notice he concentrated on the game rather than constantly arguing with the 4th official ?
I think the difference was, as he said pre-match, was let them worry about what we can do rather than us adapting our game to nulify their strengths. He was spot on with his approach!

Firstly, Stephen Vaughan would never pass the fit and proper persons test that all new owners need to go through to take over football clubs in the football league, and secondly, not in a million years could I ever see SC handing over the club to someone like him!
-
For future ref he calls himself Tony Kirk in the dry cleaners ;-)
What? TP or TK in this case doesnt do his dry cleaning? Not the sort of person I want managing my football club.
TP/TK out!

Imo Warnock had to share the blame in '97 with a similar amount if games to play and he won only 4 including NINE home games v
Bradford L1-2
Trannies L1-2
Wolves W3-2
Charlton D1-1
Palace L0-1
Swindon W5-1
Bolton D0-0
Brum D2-2
Norwich W3-0 (Already Down)
Didnt we get tonked 4-0 the game after the Swindon match?
Edit: Just seen they were home matches! I'll get back in my cage
-
True but that would also be 3 points that Scunny got the other day and i think Colchester beat them as well not long ago. Will just bring PD win percentage even lower than it was before
-
I truly can't imagine that SC and co came away from the telephone call with PD on the Sunday after the Walsall game, and thought for the very first time " golly gosh chaps, we need to find a new manager, let's see who's available ".
Haha!

Doesn't he have a column in the Chron? If this is it, what would you have him say in it today? If it's just a quote, what would you have him say in his quote?
I'm sorry but collectively they have had 6 months of this season to keep PD in a job and they havent done it, and now because their mate Dickov has resigned they feel bad for him. If they liked him that much they would have put in a shift week in week out like they did against Liverpool which they have during the odd game in 5. They knew he was under pressure but they still arsed about on the pitch with next to no passion or commitment.
If they werent good enough players for this level you could understand the crap performances, but ,most the time they are being outplayed and outfought by other teams who in terms of ability are not as good. Thats what frustrates the hell out of me!
-
Talk is cheap Simmo. Its about time they all stopped saying that they are letting people down and just get on with trying to get results! The time for excuses has gone!
-
Don't managerless teams usually win their first game?
Probably, but then this is Latics who tend to buck any usual trend!
-
If it is Dowie, I hope he'd be able to bring Smith along. Dickov is a completely different type of striker to Smith.
Plus they can give each other tips on scoring own goals.
I think Smith would improve under Dowie's tutelage. Similar types of striker and I'm pretty sure that Dowie would have seen enough of the way that Smith bullied Skrtel and Coates to know that there is a good basis to work from.
-
Who is Not?
I think Not is the rest of the field as in the threads title 'Dowie? OR not?'
-
Can't understand the clamour for an till the end of the season job, these players have shown that they don't need much excuse not to put it all in.
Hopefully the deal will be that if you keep us up this season, the job is yours next. That would be the ideal scenario.
-
I would like to have Dowie back but I just have this feeling that Phil 'Perma-tan' Brown will get it.
Still better him that bloody Alan Knill.
-
That's why IMO I think we should be looking for a intrim manager on a deal to the end of the season; with the sole aim of keeping us up. During the next few months; behind the scenes; the board (or basically Corney) are formulating plans and planting the seeds for the new manager. A pre-season appointment of a raw rookie sits better with me when we've secured our L1 status and we have pre-season for the new guys to come in and start to make his mark. A rookie now is a huge risk, and an old timer on a long term deal also IMO.
Who's to say if we go down the rookie with no experience route again, we wont be in this very same situation again come next season and so the cycle will start again? Im not against your idea by any means but if i was SC and he decided to do this it would be the with the caveat that they have an experienced number 2 alongside them. We can afford a repeat performance of Dickov and Taggart.
