  1. Not sure if I can do anything about this, but I just ordered the away shirt but just realised I ordered it a small rather than a large. I was hoping there would be an 'amend order' option or something but cant see anything. Is there one or will I have to ring up the shop tomorrow?

  2. The very fact this thread as attracted so little responce clearly indicates how apathetic us Tics have got. Which leads to why so many now don't go. I hate it I do.

You know up until a couple of years back, Latics losing on a Saturday ruined my weekend. Now if we lose its disappointing but life goes on. I have just accepted that while we have our current squad and board we arent going to get out of this god awful division. Thats not a critisism of either SC, PD or the players were have....we just are what we are....an average League One side with 15 frickin years in the same division!

  3. I'd like to see Taylor wear the number 8 shirt with Furman taking number 4, give 3 to Black and 2 to Lee and 5 to to Jean-Yves... let's get back to the good old 1 to 11 numbering for the likely starters!

As LaticsChris says - maybe we are holding back the numbers for the sudden rush of signings today... ^_^

I think with squad numbering its not always a case of the players choosing their own numbers. I would imagine merchandising may have some say as a lot of fans who got say '18 TAYLOR' on the back of their shirt wouldnt want him to change his number as it makes it out of date. I know this is the case a lot of bigger clubs.......but then it would be a good marketing ploy by the club to get people to buy a new shirt

  4. He was on loan to us in 2004, but didn't play in the first team, according to wikipedia.

Thought i remmeber seeing him play though?

If i recall correctly he was on trial but flapped at crosses or was glued to his line. We opted for Chris Day instead who was a master at both.

  5. I think players are starting to realise, especially lower down the leagues, that clubs dont have big bucks floating about now to pay over inflated wages. The reality is is that a lot of players now are worried that they may drop out of the game because clubs just simply cant afford them. But still fair play to him for agreeing reduced terms and wanting to play, and well done to Dickov for not being held to ransom.

I still reckon he could do a job for us if he can get himself fit. Important pre-season for him though.

  6. It's Corney's money, if he thinks it's a good deal then he can do what he likes. As long as he understands that us fans can do what we like with our money when they're trying to flog more season tickets. Fair's fair I suppose.

I think it really depends how ST sales go. If they are half decent then maybe only 1 out of the 3 will leave, with the assumption that it will be Stephens. If they ST sales are crap then i expect 2 if not all of them to be sold at some point during the season.

Still i dont think the club are daft enough to sell either Taylor or Furman (Dale will leave and we are prepared for that), while trying to increase ST sales. SC must weigh up the pro's and con's of cashing in on our best players and it goes back to the age old scenario where only quality on the pitch and results will increase attendances, but how can we get that by constant selling our best players. Its a tough call of SC and kind of think he will lose out either way.

By the way, are Bury due a percentage of Stephens's sell on fee? If so this could be a good negotiating tool for us to get a bit more for him.

  7. +1

Quarter of a million for a promising young midfielder who has been team captain, scored over 10 goals from midfield and who is contracted to the club until 2014 is a joke

It depends what the club consider as a good enough offer. Alan Hardy conceded on Late Kick Off that the club arent in a position to turn down 'reasonable offers' for players. If the prices quoted are true then I think the club will accept them. Not saying i agree with the fees, but that is the harsh reality of where we are at the moment. The way we gave up on trying to get a decent fee for an International (be it only Wales) like Neal Eardley showed all i needed to know about what 'reasonable offers' are.

  8. jesus bit harsh on purdie it happens in football i was hoping he would be given a chance to show what he could.....

Feeny has been a massive disappointment and baring the odd flash of decent hold up play he wont be missed next season if he leaves

I just brought FM2011 and playing as Latics. I never knew how realistic it could be, but Feeney is crap and cant hit a barn door in the game either. Hats off to the researcher for getting his abilities spot on.

  9. Has Feeney?!

At least Purdie had the decency to be injured, what's Feeneys excuse?

I was watching the goals from the Football League show and Feeney looked at the ground almost despair when his fellow countryman and young kiddy Carl Winchester slammed home his first league goal showing the alleged international how it should be done!

Paul Warne was never a techinically gifted player, and certainly wasnt a striker but even he popped up with a goal every now and then. Fenney just never looks like scoring.

  10. too many points dropped from being in a winning position was our main problem. Then the rot stated and we couldnt score for toffey.

maybe next season who knows eh.

Exeter was our biggest f**k up but the biggest turning point was the Carlisle away and home game. That is where i saw the belief officially drain out of us..........still in Dickov we trust

  11. He’s a man with big balls and big pockets, chasing his investment and looking for a fluke to give him an unexpected pot. He’s taking his cue from the Football League’s house rules, and hoping to get all the players around a baize-covered table, for match play round the angles, while he makes his stance trying the odd swerve.

Then he’ll play the percentages and try to go for a maximum break, by dislodging the Hammers from their comfy bottom cushion. He’ll threaten to break off, get as far as the centre spot, go to the bridge, get an extension, keep miscuing with deliberate fouls, draw the baulk-line and then break and run.

After chalking up a stun run-through and leaving with a cocked-hat double, to give him a total clearance, he’ll follow through with some free-stroking position play, plant a double kiss on Karen Brady and go for a rest, with the proceeds in his side pocket.

He will snooker himself in the end though

  12. its not that I think its fair... I don't accept it will be the catalyst to end Leyton Orient...

It wont make a blind bit of difference to Orient who plays there. They have their hardcore and loyal support just like we do so i dont think attendances will suffer that much either, especially when you consider that due to its proximity to Brisbane Road, its very unlikely Orient and West Ham/Spurs will be at home of the same weekends.

  13. That's entirely my point - WHY would this be necessary? Could we not just accept it and ride out the storm? Didn't Fergie and Royle both do next to nowt for 4-5 seasons and then get it right..?

Give him the the 4-5 years we need to finally give a manager who is showing the raw characteristics of a potentially good future manager and let him have the lows to get to the highs.

Its not as simple as riding out the storm and giving him time. Look at Ronniesaurus for instance. The football was dire but its possible that he may well have got us up in the end, but the financial implications of giving him more time would have been disasterous when you consider season ticket sales, match day income etc. If we start off next season serving up the same drivel we have during this run then attendances will drop further. I would hasten to add that season tickets will be down on last season as well. Fans have short memories, and many will overlook the great football we played in the early part of the season, and just remember what has happened recently.

Its not just our club that is unique in this either. Whether you or I believe Dickov should have 1 year, 5 years, 10 years makes not a patch of difference. Fans and money through the turnstile will dictate that.

  14. Not in my eyes it hasn't.

He has done a great job - the fact we were up in the top 8 and looking great until february and all 'expecting' a top 8 finish due to that form is testament to the job he has done - if we had been near the bottom all season and then ensured safety yesterday and finish the season 16th, no one would bat an eye-lid, it would be '1st season, crap squad from last year, he has done OK in the circumstances' etc etc, but because of the such great start and the massive dip in form, it is suppoosidly viewed as a failure to not have ended the seasn in the top 6??? - BOLLOX.

He has shown more proactvity, drive, enthusiasm and effort than Moore, Shez and Penney put together.

Granted Feb-May form has been dire, but you can put that down to a combination of many factors.

The summer will be a test for him yes, but if we start next season badly and would end up finishing 14th for example, given the budget and current state of the club it again would be sad to get the knvies out AGAIN for ANOTHER manager.

Dickov needs 4-5 years in the job WHATEVER the final season standings - it's time us fans 'plodded along' and accept that the state the club is in at the moment doesn't consistute promotion aspirations - BY ALL MEANS go for them and make that your goal, but to 'EXPECT' it every other season, however 'ambitious', is realistically one hope to far in a resources sense and if it doesn't happen any time soon, we dust ourselves down and build again and again - EVENTUALLY it will happen, we just need to bite our collective lip and let Dickov manage, learn and improve bit by bit (the style if football employed by Penney and Moore did not constitute this time, it was simply awful to watch).

    KTF

I like Dickov and for the most the first 6 months of the season he was like a breath of fresh air but the figures dont lie. This run has been truly appaling and like has been mentioned in the end we have been lucky to have stayed up, and who would have thought that after the Hartlepool home game? Whatever the reasons for it, managers in the past have been sacked for far less than what Dickov has, and imo he is very lucky to still be in the job. Had this of been a few seasons earlier ie in place of Shez, Moore, Penney etc, he would either have been sacked by now or certainly would not have had his contract renewed (he still might not).

Yes at times the football has been great but its pretty much 50/50 to complete garbage. I think Dickov should stay and see what he can do in the summer and at least till Christmas of next season. If we start off next season how we finished this one, SC (if he is still here) will have to seriously consider Dickov's position. I really do hope that he gets it right as I think he has the makings of a good manager, but the one thing I wish he would change is to bring in an experienced head alongside him. Neither he nor Taggart have that experience and I think during this run it shows!

  15. Since 15th January in the League.

    LATICS: Played 17 Won 3 Drawn 6 For 14 Against 21 Pts 15

    NOTTS C: Played 15 Won 3 Drawn 4 For 7 Against 15 Pts 13

Confidence at rock bottom on both sides.

What can we expect on Saturday? First to score wins.

You forget, we dont do scoring. It will be all about trying to grind out enough 0-0 draws between now and the end of the season to keep us safe. Dave Penney would be proud.
