  1. Sorry if I spoke too much. My enthusiasm carries me away sometimes. Again apologies.!!!!!!!!! Barry PS Thought it was a great get together today and one of the better meetings. Some really good questions and points made. Will follow up on the technical meeting if some of you are interested and will arrange another meeting soon. May even arrange a "Meet the Players" buffet night once our position is a bit safer. !!!!!!
  2. Perhaps Harry if you attended one of these meetings you might "grasp" what is actual meant by any statement the manager makes. You cannot assume something from a distance and something you have not heard. !!!! Barry
  3. I seem to remember an "old" Sean Gregan being without a club before returning to Oldham for a great season. !!!!!!!!!!!
  4. The third forum will be held in the Guest Lounge of the club at 3.00pm on Thursday, 9.1.2014 As usual the manager will be present to take your questions. We will follow the usual format and 20 persons will be selected from those making it known that they wish to attend. You should append your names to this link and Rick Attwoood will oversee the process. I appreciate that the arrangements are unsuitable for those in daytime work but this is the only time available at the present. Barry
  5. Why all the negativity from some posters. At least gives these new players a chance before you criticise them. We genuine try to bring players in that will add to the experience that helps to make a good side. Barry
  6. Best wishes to all fans of Oldham Athletic. Barry
  7. Preston would have you beliee that they made nine changes but many of those on the field had first team experience. Great win boys. Barry
  8. At the moment I think it inappropriate to subscribe to the patronage being expressed in the thread. Equally so I do not feel inclined or qualified to pass moral judgement on any individual. What I will say in answer to a degree of implied criticism is this. Unlike contracted work, when individuals VOLUNTEER to work in voluntary organisations they are very much used for their experience and expertise. They are taken on "trust" and obviously not supervised or accountable as in the workplace. Someone has mentioned Playershare learning lessons from those procedures implemented in the Trust. It was through the procedures within theTrust that the offences came to light. You can only develop procedures up to a given point and even if two people are required to sign cheques it becomes very difficult if a party fraudulently forges another's signature. Fortunately the same official administered the Playershare Account and I am pleased to state that this account was untouched. To those who judge £2400 in a different way than I do, I would ask you to just consider how much hard work was done by other volunteer Directors to raise this money. Barry
  9. I have nothing personal against Mike and all posters will be aware that the Trust had little option to proceed given that we are dealing with fans money. Fair play to Mike for posting on the site. That takes a lot of courage. Barry
  10. In fairness to the people referred to in this thread, I can officially confirm that neither Gillian Nuttall or Grace Nuttall, an employee at the club, are connected to this incident or any enquires apppertaining to it. Regards Barry
  11. A lot of great talking points tonight and what a performance. !!!!!!! Got to look at the positives that we are a young team and a work in progress. Only 6 games in with a lot of injustice along the way. However we have to stop commmitting professional suicide. We should have had a penalty for hand ball on he line but we did not appeal it anyway. Sid had a great game tonight EXCEPT for the free kick he gave outside the box resulting in a goal. You have got to be mindful what you are doing in these dangerous positions. Little needs to be said about their penalty in my opinion. Anyone running out of the box especially an old pro like Davies has to be tracked and not challenged. You just do not give the officials the chance to make a decision and Davies was always going to go down easily. One thing of interest in this respect is that the refereee did not award the penalty that was signalled by he assistant. The referee had a clear view from where I was and it was his call. It is not for the assistant to assume the responsibilites of the referee and the call should have stayed with him. They are told quite clearly that they are there to "assist". If the referee had sight of the incident and not given the penalty that decision should have stood. A difficult one because he will say he was unsighted. Anyway as gutted as I am I believe we have a fantastic team in the making and I just hope everyone keeps faith in them all.
  12. Great Game. Different class. Our pace absolutely left them standing. Their Directors said they could not live with us. Sidney outstanding. Philly shows he is a natural goal scorer. Unfair to pull out names because the team played well together. Oxley made some great saves tonight. He still had some work to do despite them being second best all night. Well done the away support. !!!!!!! Barry
  13. A sad loss Ian. Our thoughts are with you. The Owen family
  14. All application should by in by midnight this Sunday Rick and we will announce on Monday. This gives people the chance to make arreangements. Barry
  15. You will recall that when Lee Johnson was appointed he met a number of fans in the Boardroom at Boundary Park on his first day. I think that it proved to be a successful venture. After discussions with Lee we have decided to do another session along the same lines. The event will be held in the Guest Room at Boundary Park on Thursday, 1 August 2013 at 3.00pm Any person wishing to attend should append their details to this thread and a ballot will be held to determine the successful 12 persons who will be attending. Those persons who attended on the last occasion ARE ALLOWED to apply again. Thanks Barry
  16. I am assured by Rick A. that everything is okay and I think he has sent you a pm. I also spoke to Broady about your room booking and asked him to attend to the matter. Sorry you have been messed about. !!!!!! Please make contact with me via pm if you have any difficulties. Thanks Barry
  17. Why not just get a £80 season ticket for parking at the club. Saves on the risk of getting a parking ticket and you don't have to buy food and drink to get your money back. Obviously works out cheaper than going on the car park at £5 a game if you attend every match. Barry
  18. Need a meeting Tracey. Can we sort a date out please.(Manager will attend so please speak re suitable date etc). By the way I did make an apology for the misleading impression in the official story insofar as the credit was given fully to the Trust. Please read back. Don't suck the blood too dry.!!!!!!!! Barry
  19. Well done to the BBC for the coverage. Not bad for a Division One outfit. Pleased for all the members associated with Playershare Barry
  20. The idea about Playershare orginated from a report I submitted to the Trust quite a few years ago. In the early days it was the Trust who administered the scheme but for whatever reason it was never as successful as we had hoped. It still provided good money and I have always been thankful to those members who have stuck with the scheme from day one. The contribution for Luke Beckett actually came from Trust funds and I make no apology for that because I think that Luke was instrumental in keeping us in Division One at the time. Apart from the alternative opinion the Trust has always operated in such a manner that it will help the club as and when it can. The principle ofr money being saved for a rainy day is not an objective of the Trust although I am aware that some people that this should be our mission in life. After further discussions and in an attempt to re-launch the Playershare image it was felt that a more open and transparent system should apply and this coincided with a number of fans showing interest in sitting on the committee. To date these fans have done a great job, although I suspect that like me,they often feel frustrated that the scheme does not reach its potential. Given the recession and the call on people's finances I still think it is great that we raise what we do. Dave Stringer also does a wonderful job raising money for the scheme via his website. Playershare and the Trust do have their links but operate seperately to demonstrate the views of fans paying into the scheme and to listen to committee members who are not linked to the Trust. I am sorry that the official site is misleading in this respect and I am sure Lags will forgive me accordingly. A couple of Trust Directors and myself sit on the Playershare Committee and I provide the link between the managers requests and the committee and thereafter arrange the administration of the scheme in so far as it relates to a player. I hope this clarifies matters and if you can join please help the cause. Barry
  21. The manager will be talking about this event next week because he is really keen that the fans get a chance to meet the players before the proper season starts. He also thinks it will be helpful for the new players as well. All the staff and squad will be present and I am just making an appeal for fans to buy tickets and have a good night. If you want to seek out your favourite player and have your photo taken that will be encouraged during the night. By chatting to the new players you will be able to get an insight why they chose Oldham to sign for. We need a big turn out to show the players we are right behind them and to encourage this sort of function in the future. This is the first time we have tried such an event. Any queries just shout up. Barry
  22. Leeslover and Frankly make some excellent points. I am not opposed to more people being involved with the Trust and I am not opposed to change. Indeed I acknowledge that we need to improve and up our game in some areas. This will be addressed. We have suffered a loss of helpers in the past few years but a number of people are returning and a few new fans are joining us. I would never stand in the way of progress nor would I want the fans to lose the knowledge we have gleened about running a football club and the daily problems that arise. This has been made possible by the excellent manner in which Simon Corney allows me to be so involved. He could easily taken another route which would have rendered me less inclusive. Those who know me are aware of my eagerness to act for the fans but I cannot second guess what Simon wants to tell Prozac or any other fan for that matter. Prozac in not privy to confidential information and other fans may well have been given the same information. They just choose not to speak about it or publish it onh the basis that it aint that improtant anyway. Equally it may well be that Simon believes that he should be the only person to reveal certain facts and that it is his perogative as to whether he wants things in the public domain. More recently when fans became upset about the Vaughan situation I went on the official site and clarified matters. When necessary I will continue to do so. We really do try and keep fans abreast of all important developments but you would be very bored if we tried to update you on a daily basis. The Salford based publicity was what it was and did not need much comment. When it did, it was for the Chairman to release any detail. If a trust acts properly in such circumstances it merely observes to ensure that the fans interests are protected . My working relationship with the Chairman makes this an easy task on the basis that he will share confidential information with me. You just have to trust that your representative is old and wise enough to keep your interests at the forefront. I encourage young and old fans to become involved with the Trust if you want to instigate change and amongst you a new leader will emerge, but you will not achieve it from behind a keyboard as some might believe. In this debate some of those who class themselves as my opponents make a lot of sense. I welcome challenge and change and will fight any leadership battle. Once the accounts are completed an AGM will be held and those up for re-election will fight for their positions with (not against) any new nominees. What I susupect is that everyone will get involved because the Trust needs many workers. Barry
  23. Thanks Diego. I am sure you will have a good night. Please make yourself known. I think you will enjoy meeting the Manager , if you have not already done so, together with the players old and new. As I said,we thought we would try something different given that the majority enjoyed the end of season dinner at the Village. There wil be plenty of players at the event. !!!!!!! Barry
