cream rises t'top.
Nothing to beat yesterday
-
I have found some of the comments about how good the atmosphere has been a little puzzling.
We have had two home games - the atmosphere was excellent against Millwall and less so yesterday.
It will improve as we extend our lead at the top and the larger supported teams come to BP as well.
-
He only really got a game because they played there best players in the Under 21's as it was a crucial match. Realistically Eards is well down the pecking order when everyone is fit, it's a shame we couldn't have cashed in on him while all the hype was around.
Neil Eardley is 19 years old and still learning his trade - I think he will be a good 'un but possibly better in midfield.
He'll do for me

Piss off Derek, you no mark kayboard warrior
Seiously though, who are these dickheads on this board? You have been man enough to come on here and admit that Chris T is playing well and making you reconsider your opinion, yet these pricks can't help but have a go.
The bit that makes me laugh is the line about previous comments 'I will still stand by them should a consistent dip in form return.'
A few years ago, I said the exact thing about Ronaldo - and if he suffers a dip in form then I will stand by those comments too!

Your blaming Oldham when you have no idea what happened with the deal.
Some people really do live in their own little worlds
So I go into a garage to test drive a 20k car - I know that I only have 10k to spend but I don't bother to discuss this with the salesman. Naturally I love the car and want to take it - but the salesman will not come down to my 10k limit. WHo's time have I wasted? If I had discussed the price beforehand and realised that the car was going to be out of my price range perhaps I would have chosen to test drive a cheaper car...

Didn't Sheridan state in a recent interview he was frustrated with Stoke as they didn't seem to know how much they were paying Phillips. How are Oldham to blame?
By not clarifying the amount that the lad would cost us - duuuh!
-
What a complete load of tosh this is.
You obviously have little or no business dealings in your life to understand what goes on with regards these loan deals.
To blame latics is just ridiculous and makes me wonder who you support !!!!!
I think a valid point is raised here - Latics have been naive if they did not raise up front the matter of what percentage of Demar Phillips wages Stoke wanted us to pay. Yes Sheridan still wants the lad at BP and so do most of us on the board - but hopes have been raised and a player potentially misled. So 'complete load of tosh' no I don't think so. 'Little or no business dealings' again I don't agree with that comment either - if you conduct your business deals the way latics have gone about this deal then Ithink your career is on a road to nowhere.

Tongue-in-cheek humour is how I read it
Taylor has a great touch, deceptive pace and can only get better - he is a class player and was a handful for Millwall today.
Alessandra is another who is only going to get better and better - he looked stronger than last season and his touch is also top.
One for the Millwall team - I liked the look of the tall centre back Whitbread (even though he gave away that free kick...).

As you all know, i was in the RRE and that was by far the best atmosphere i have heard at BP. The chaddy end seemed to be rocking to me but the roof is poor. I thought the Millwall fans were a disgrace. One of them giving stick to a 10 year old lad (because he's hard obviously) Throwing bottles of p**s.. what kind of people do they call themselves? Can i just ask what people thought of were i was sat?
I sat in the main stand - both the Chaddy and RRE were loud at times but Millwall had more to sing about until the subsitutions changed the game. The atmosphere in the ground was good today and if we can get the balance of the team right, then home games will be great fun.
-
I didn't even realise they played anything when we scored. RRE sound speakers seem pretty terrible to be honest though, could barely hear them even at half time so not much chance when we've just scored.
They played it and it was mint - will get the whole ground rocking I'm certain of that - tune

I believe in miracles.
Whittaker brings missing balance

I'll second that. It's always nice to get a flavour of Boundary Park by reading the posts on here. Thanks.
Here's to a successful season!!!
I live a mere 198 miles away - travelling up today with a pal for the game - full of expectation and a little trepidation too - you blues!
-
Although modesty clearly doesn't forbid you from sending an email with a link to this thread to make sure I tell the story!
It's all a bit hazy, anyway. Can't really remember the details
Crossley but Fleming will take over this season
-
The family wanted it to be applause in celebration of Ernie's life.
Applause or silence - it's a magnificent gesture - well done
-
I wont pay £27 for League 1 football either. No chance. You'd expect to pay it at wembley in the playoff final, but not a run of the mill league game.
but if we win... then it would be worth it no?
-
I think you'll find they were copying what fans did in the Isle of Man in 1997.
This was to give their voices a rest from singing the Gregan song.
I shall be trying that in the main stand saturday
-
Tommy Bryceland - ran the midfield. 1970-71?
Big Jim Fryatt - a legend
-
Starting Eleven on Saturday?
Here is my suggestion....
Stella
Becks
Carling
Grolsh
Carlsberg
Budweiser
Corona
Tennets Super
Special Brew
Holsten Pils
Staropramen
And I would go for a classic 4-4-2 formation.
........................ .......................
................ ...............
Obviously, Stella is the keeper as "nothing beats Stella". We have some hard cases in midfield with Tennents Super and Speical Brew while the light bodies of Corona and Budweiser should add a bit of fizz if things go flat during the game.
PS I'd send Ayingerbrau out on loan to a non-league club.
Love it -

I've got to say I like the look of Stephens. I hope he develops further and turns into a gem. Maher will start however, Stephens may step from the shadows at some point.
My thoughts exactly -we now have the luxury of being able to bring the younger players along gradually. Got to be good for the long term future
-
WTF is going on here?
Lidds is the only player who can consistently deliver a decent cross which is backed up my his assists record the past few years. We missed him last year and it showed, having to play a whole host of central midfielders or strikers there. This year, with a full pre season, he's raring to go and I hope he starts.
E4e
ERNIE
John Sheridan is the gaffer - the team he picks is okay by me - if Liddell is doing the business then that is okay too.
After yesterday I think there will be some surprises next week with the starting line-up.

Is the RRE open to Latics fans tonight? I know it was allocated for the massive turnout we had from Derby, but wondered if common sense had prevailed?
Nope - don't think so. As I understand it, Hull have been given the large section of the RRE with the small section closed.

IIRC correctly we had a deal for that Roque lad where we paid his wages when he didn’t play, the Scousers paid him when he did. Unfortunately he wasn’t very good... Can’t blame Shez for wanting to be sure before committing to a deal that leaves him with the choice of losing money that he could potentially spend on a shorter term loanee in favour of spending it on a player that will both cost money and put pressure on his team selection.
Sign him

I'm suprised we're usually tipped for the mid-table or the drop every season preview I read every year without fail
And there's more...
Preston - One to Watch - Neal Trotman
Notts County - Most important player type thing - Richard Butcher
Oldham - a great start in life for a professional footballer
Davies is back for Colchester

He will be in the squad and will get on ahead of O'Grady. Good to have strength in depth.
