I thought Pointon was quite goodAnybody who scores against The Filth is/was quite good. If Hughes hadn't done the volley he would have been a hero. Never let us down anyway.
He also briefly dated Danny Behr. Quite good.

Maurice Whittle took over in goal for the rest of the game, and played an absolute blinder. We won 1-0, and Jim Williams dubbed him 'Maurice The Magnificent' in his Monday evening match report in the Chronicle!
Prrrrrrr.

Hard to see Hope going anywhere until Curle gets a new job.

Sydney isn't the bustling metropolis many would expect...
Also now Australia's second city. Melbourne is bigger now.

Liverpool were doing this some 35 years ago with David Fairclough. You could hardly call Bob Paisley anything like a modern day manager. He was succesful though.
Those were the days of only one sub. Comparison with todays sub permutations is not realistic.

If results and performances don't improve fans will turn on the Royle's to resign,
What will they do then?
Do you really think that will happen or are you just fishing?
They are hardly the Glazer's and they have saved the club despite the current on pitch performances.
You know that most of the anger is rightly directed at the manager and will continue to be so unless results improve.

Knowing @BP1960dislike of modern technology it was probably Radio Caroline.

Yes but the football is crap and showing no signs of developing/evolving or improving despite all his new signings.
Recent results say otherwise.

I'm with BP on this btw, the hoardings are far too bright. Can't see a thing at the Chaddy End from where I sit. But it's not relevant to "ex players and that"...
They are too bright because the floodlights are too dim.

It’s become clear why he joined, because he knew that normal parameters won’t apply for him.
Somebody new to this forum would think gosh, he is well informed.
Regular viewers will know that is only his opinion and he knows no more than you me and the sideboard.

The question is do advertisers make any money out of them? I can't remember who they are on ours and certainly wouldn't buy anything from them anyway.
Why not-is it the content or just the principle that I don't like them-or both?

Sam Surridge's first Premier League goal yesterday
Against his old club-and he seemed quite please about it too.

I know what you mean, and I agree to a point.
But It would need sustained results over a long period of time for his spell up to date to be forgotten. If we won the next 3 and then lost the next 3/4 on the bounce it will start again. In part because he has alienated himself from the fans.
You are answering your own point's. If he starts to win it will melt away-if he continues to lose he will get dogs abuse. Nowt to do with alienating fans.
This is a club who's fans are desperate for some form of success-if he manages to produce something-anything, he will easily win fans over.
As an aside or example. Did you see City tonight? Booed off at HT, cheered off at FT. Fickle lot footie fans.

The trouble he’s got now, is even if results do improve- I think a lot just don’t like him and that only ends one way like you say.
Disagree.
If or when he starts to win games all this controversy will melt away. It will make no difference whether you like him or not if he starts to win games.

So leave them neglected now money is available, a strange philosophy.
At present time Rothwell doesn't own the ground-until that is complete I would imagine the lights will have to wait unfortunately.

Never mind McGahey is slowly returning to fitness. Unsworth says he will be a big player for us when fit!!!
Has he actually seen him play?
You’d think he was talking about Paulo Maldini….he is absolutely shite FFS!
Maybe he meant 'big' as in his actual size-not his playing ability.

But he’s a kid who no one seems willing to give the confidence to grow into
And isn't that suspicious?
Plenty of fans who see the odd cameo appearance and think he is an answer BUT yet to have a manager who thinks he can do a job.

For those that went Harry played 22 mins plus extra time.
How did he do?
Did he change the game for us?
Did he do enough to earn a start Saturday?
I can sum it up easily-
Not much.
No
No.

People keep saying, we need to spend. But are forgetting we have a bloated squad already. Point being- Unsy isn’t going to be able to transform the side with ten new signings until the summer at least. So he’s stuck with a lot of these players, and it’s his job to get the most out of them. The only player who looks improved so far- is Fondop.
So maybe he is getting the most out of them-they just aren't good enough.
Agree about Fondop, he seems to have lost a bit of excess baggage.

Now, either Unsworth's utterly dire as a manager or we accept that the squad is way, way off the mark (even at this level). If it's the latter,
And who's fault is that? Non other than your Saint John.
51 minutes ago, wiseowl said:Chester away, I think, is now pretty crucial for Unsworth. I say that, because, if he's incapable of getting any sort of tune out of the current squad/team, why would you risk allowing him to "splash the cash"? Management, first and foremost, is about a) getting the best out of what you have - and then b) building from there.
And that is why they refused to give JS any more money as he hadn't got a clue about picking a player. How anybody expects this fella to get a tune out of the utter rubbish JS left us with defeats me.
54 minutes ago, wiseowl said:or we accept that the squad is way, way off the mark (even at this level)
So actually accept this and try to move on.
