  1. When Crossley came to the Chaddy End for the start of the second half, he was holding his back with both hands and puffing out his cheeks as if in pain. He appeared to be talking to the linesman about it as he checked the nets. Then later on I noticed Tommy shouting to him and Crossley held his hand up to acknowledge he was OK.

Then when the second goal went in, he amazed me by doing a backflip before celebrating with the Chaddy Enders.

At that moment his body was right up there with the Taj Mahal.

It is a great chant. Interesting to hear about the t shirts. I wonder who is taking such credit for a drunken moment of inspiration in Colchester?!?! :oasissign1:

He was brilliant again today and does look marginally fitter. I am concerned about your eyesight though Diego. If he did indeed to a backflip, expect him to only do 1 day of training this week without any problems (note to mods - we need a temple winky thing)

  2. sorry but they were the best team we have played this season and caused us a lot of problems in both halves we won a game were we were second best for long periods so their manager was probably watching the same game as me

Couldnt agree more mate. However, the only area I disagree with is that they missed lots of chances. I thought that, even though they caused us lots of problems and were easily the best team we have played so far, we created the more clear cut chances in the game. Yes they had the penalty and two further chances through Wilbraham. Other than that, they were restricted to longer distance efforts.

  3. In addition to those memories already listed from 1990 or so

Going to overy game at the start of the 03/04 season thinking it would be our last

Celebration Sunday - Griffin meant it!! Oldham were back!!

    Beating Forest 5-0

Following it up with 1-1 at Scunny in the most one sided game ever seen and grown men crowd surfing, hugging anyone they could

Neil Eardley nerly being thrown out at the same game

Staying up on the last day under Ritchie

Swindon away under Talbot - for al his misgivings, that was a great performance and a great day out. The day "Oh when the blues" really caught on for me. It's got faster by the day ever since

Bristol City away in same season - Muzza and Ernie making it a day to remember

John Sheridan giving me his shirt at the end of said Reading game (it was my last season as ball boy)

Watching League Cup final on video for weeks afterwards hoping Rhodes pushed the ball that bit further or Ritchie's shot would go in!

Carlo's 4 goal haul against Wrexham helping him get to the mighty total of 11 that season

Wayno's goal after 12 seconds at the JJB

    Dux's goal at the JJB

Beating Wolves 3-1 at Molyneux after being 1-0 down at half time sat in their end

    Millwall last season - unbelievable

I think everyone has covered a lot of the other memories. If I think if anymore I'll add some

  4. Sorry there are some in-jokes going on involving Eastbourne etc

For complete clarity, I am leaving from Brentwood in Essex at 9am and heading directly to Oldham and can pick you up from either Brentwood or Shenfield station. I have an Audi A4, which isn't particularly roomy in the back, so I can probably take one tall fella and two more vertically challenged folk or two tall fellas

Think I'm gonna have to give it a miss. Just remembered after the post that I am using my free ticket to get back from the Hudders game. There are no advanced singles available to get back after this game now so looks unlikely I'll be there. Thanks for the offer though. First league game missed this season :disappointed:

The plus side is, saving some cash allows for Hudders, Stockport, Leicester and Swindon next month :bblue2:

  5. That'll be the one. If you want to join me then I'm changing the departure time to 7am and then you'll actually turn up at 9am

I am confused. Where is the lift departing from? I may indeed join you

Where would I need to be and by what time? (I have a free train ticket South :) )

  6. Too right. I'm a little surprised by how little attention we're getting but long may it continue. No one seems to see us as a threat yet.

I couldn't be happier that everyone is ignoring us. I know it is early doors, but for Grayson to say that he thought we could sneak into the playoffs this year shows that people dont see us as a serious threat at the moment. The longer that stays true the better. Rather be able to go about our business quietly and get a decent number of points before we are plastered all over the place*

*Within reason, this is League One. Noone is plastered all over the place

  7. Hey all

I know I'm posting organisational stuff which we are not a fan of but I would have thought a few are thinking of travelling up for Huddersfield game. I've just found a return ticket back from Manc that I havent used and is valid that weekend still. When is everyone planning on travelling. Still a lot of advanced tickets up to Manc available Friday evening for around £20 with Virgin.

  8. So far so good - most of the credit must go to Andy b 100, who is doing a fine job of getting the relevant details together for the most important part of the process, namely making sure that Lee doesn't have any taint against his name on account of this incident. Please keep the accounts coming, they all add weight to our cause. I've formally requested all of the information that is held with Lee's authority and there is further photographic evidence due.

Thanks to several of you who have offered to help in several ways. Lee and his family will of course have the decision to make as to how much of a publicity campaign we decide to make out of this and serve his best interests, but it's fair to say that the Latics community together with many decent fans from other clubs have shown that they are willing to lay a marker down against the sort of thuggery some of us had the displeasure to witness.

For the record, I haven't spoken to either yet but I know that both Alan and Bazza are fully up to speed with this incident as you would expect.

    Cheers

    Andy

    Lee / Andy

The offer of speaking to a few contacts in the national media still stands. Just let me know if you decide to take it that far.

  9. Agree with all the sentiments on here and it is good of people to offer to co-ordinate. I think we should all be clear though. With a centrally co-ordinated effort, it is important that they are copied in on any communications regarding this event. In addition, it is probably worth the central effort (Lee and those who have offered support) be the only people to contact the key stakeholders (Police and complaints commissions etc). These are the only people who can now review the evidence and quash the reprimand against Lee's name. It is important that all the evidence is presented in a coherent and cohesive way to make the most impact.

For those of you who wish to write to CUFC, you shouldnt be discouraged. We can all write those letters just making sure that Andy (as he has offered and seems to have Lee's blessing) is copied in.

Please make sure correspondence is fact based and not emotion filled. I appreciate that this is an emotive episode, however, if that comes through more than the facts, this will only serve to harm the argument and fuel the "mob mentality" argument that will undoubtedly come from the other side.

P.S. Lee, I understand that you want to express your opinion and it is right you get to air it. You need to do it in the right forums. This may not be it as if you let emotion get the better of you and this progresses, posts on here could be used on which to base statements / discredit statements. You dont want that to harm your case in any way.

  10. After the article in The Sun yesterday (which I have still not seen but have it on good authority this was said) Crossley deservedly got some banter about this yesterday. Next week he will be in front of us for 45 mins again. I want to hear Latics fans en masse (more than just half a dozen of us) singing

    His body is a temple

    His body is a temple

It could become Crossley's new chant. He loved it

  11. As a Colchester fan I have to say that I am ashamed by the piss poor management of what should have been, lets be honest, a low profile game between two teams which to my knowledge have had no major disagreements in the past. The day had the potential to be enjoyable, with some light-hearted banter between two sets of fans. Yesterday sums up to me the madness that now surrounds the policing of professional football in this country. Both during and after the game me and my mates managed to drink in the Norfolk pub and met a number of Oldham fans, enjoyed friendly conversation and managing to avoid not getting into a fight (note sarcasm.) I believe I actually met one of the group of people who put up that lad in their hotel room last night.

I hope someone makes a serious complaint to our club, I know that I will be writing a letter complaining about the treatment meted out to away fans. I noted yesterday that the spineless bastards didnt try and throw you out for standing once they had angered enough people to even up the odds. At the end of the day the stewards represent both our town and the club, what sort of impression have they made.

    Pissed off.

The flip side of that is those in the Norfolk were a credit to your club. Good banter before and after the game. Especially with the Newcastle fan getting angrier and angrier at events from the Emirates.

It was a shame, and its also a shame that it became the main topic of conversation after the game when we should have been talking about what ended up being a decent game of football. I think it's great that everyone is rallying round and complaints are being made. I would hope that a copy of the CCTV is received by all parties involved so they can make the correct decision and act in their best interests.

  12. "Sit down, and behave ourselves"

Wasn't a savoury incident to say the least yesterday. I think most have covered everything that happened. The way in which the stewards looked proud on the way out. Even worse was, when trying to articulate myself to a copper after the game, he got on the front foot and got very aggressive towards me. THere didn't seem to be any reason for it having asked a simple question in a calm manner. Some police and stewards at football throughout the land need to stop thinking of football fans as something they have found on the bottom of their shoe, but as people who actually have jobs during the week and are entitled to articulate themselves. Some fans have a hell of a lot to lose and whilst common sense is not prevailing in football grounds, we could have a real problem on our hands!!

To the lad who was thrown out. It should be absolutely your call what you do about it. I can understand if you just want to let it be. It's funny how when things like this happen, they get swept under the carpet and it is very very difficult to prove anything against a steward.

To the stewards, well done on turning a fun, mild mannered, banterous atmosphere into a stand off. It's interesting that you picked on a lad who seemed to be 17 / 18 and none of the bigger guys who had been standing as much if not more (though never persistent and on the back rows!!). I wonder why that was? You certainly are going to have fun when Leeds / Millwall are in town. Good luck

  13. What could be better than an afternoon out in an lovely Castle town in Essex.

Gramps if you look at JoeP's post further up in has put a link to the pub we will be in.

I'm sober and at work. There I am incredibly organised. By Sat 2 o clock, having sunk a few swifties on the train, and a few beers in Colchester, I know I'll end up in a cab
