  1. i know there is no underground line at watford , but try here transport for london or try here http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/en/pj/tt

Watford probably wouldnt work too well for you matey. It would require an overland train (probably into Euston) and then the tube from there. If you come down the M40 I think it is, you can get to West Ruislip relatively easily. However, this will then be approx 45 mins on Tube from Leyton.

Have you looked at routes into Leyton? If you come down the M1 and then scoot round the M25 to where the M11 comes in from Cambridge, you should be able to get there relatively traffic free as it isn't particularly central.

  2. I'm pretty sure this will be a lot of peoples sentiments... lets face it, if we just went for the football (especially at home) the crowd would barely be in double figures...

... Fortunately, as you say, football is about a lot more... seeing your mates, having a beer, blind sense of optimism etc... its all those reasons that mean despite the things you say and I agree with... we will be back....

... the problem is for Latics that it might not be as oftern...

To use one of your favourite quotes...

"There's nothing like 90 minutes of football to ruin a good p**s up" ;-)

  3. Champions of Europe????????????

it comes from when they claim they were robbed of the European Cup in 1975 when Brian Munich beat em.

champions of europe?they cant even win the 3rd division.

That is the most comedy chant I have ever heard. I am very good friends with a Leeds fan and the irony was lost on him. I sent him a text suggesting singing that song is exactly why Leeds fans are disliked up and down the country. His honest response was

"No mate... that chant has a lot of history"

As I say, the irony was lost. Not only are they living in the past but they are singing about a winning a trophy they didnt win!!!!! I'm sure if they go up this year they will think they were brilliant given their 15 point deduction!!

  4. Yeah me and the missus saw 'em doing that, outside the pub, wonder if they werechecking if they were tooled up or being yorkshire folk perhaps unopened tinnies?

I am not someone who will ever condone football violence. The worrying rumour on the other thread shows what can happen when these numpties go too far.

On this thread, people are very quick to criticise the Oldham fans for kicking off as a Leeds fan (in particular Main Stand upper) was being kicked out. There are two points that I think haven't been raised:

    1. He hardly went quietly. He stood at the top of the steps, appearing to make w****r signs from where I was stood.

    2. It really was handbags at ten paces. There were plenty of people who walked to the end of the aisles and came down from the back to give him a piece of their mind but to condemn people in the same way those at Stockport reacted I think is wrong. Many of us have seen the You Tube video of the violence at Stockport. This was more like two guys trading handbagts at best.

I really do think we should move on before this gets blown all out of propotion

  5. :behead: I'm sure Alex will be along to had comment soon. It's every match Tom, if its not Maher it's someone else ... god forbid you say anything bad about Deano in her earshot.

I dont know what you mean Mark. I think the person in question has some of the most reasonable, rational and sensible football opinions I have heard on a football terrace

  6. care to enlighten us all then,in case some havent heard it.

I think this one is quite well known now but it goes to the tune of "I love you baby":

Oh Chrissy Taylor you are the love of my life

Oh Chrissy Taylor I'd let you s**g my wife

Oh Chrissy Taylor, I want ginger hair to

  7. Spot on.

Pride, passion, belief, and commitment. None of these traits cost money nor are the product of coaching badges.

Don't-call-him-gaffer Shez instils none of this into the team. Yeah yeah we do well against the teams around us but sorry anyone can get up for their Cup Final in front of 20,000 and the TV cameras. It's the bread and butter that brings success. Yeovil, Brighton, Orient, Carlisle, Swindon, and now add Bristol Rovers to the list. Five points from a possible 18 against bottom of the table teams. At home.

He needs to go. The only reason we're still in the play offs is because there's a couple of other teams in and around us who seem to be equally as bad. Make no mistake about it, it's not because we're playing well and deserve it.

Shez, please do the decent thing.

    E4e

    JSOUT

Without wanting to make you more angry, we only took 4 points from those games.

  8. Haven't all managers done post-match interviews to the "media" (local rags) for years prior to LW?

My only wish (IF we, as expected, don't get 2nd place) is that we finish 3rd or 4th so we are at home for the second play-off leg...

It will be interesting to hear him tonight. Whilst, I appreciate the video element is for Latics World, I read something into them when they say the same things week in week out and things dont change!! A little insight or a different approach can pay dividends

  9. I wonder what Sharp, Warnock, Wadsworth and Talbot would have said after every loss had they had to immediately appear on Latics World every time. :mmm:

Would they have had as much variety as Ronnie? :)

They all did post match interviews and suffered from similar problems to Shez. Sharp became famous for his "All credit to the lads" spiel!!

  10. I think there are two reasons for the frustration that comes out.

The first is that the title of this thread could equally be about Shez's post match comments. Whenever we don't win, he makes the same comments as the previous time. Now, whilst the comparison isn't great, if my work was deficient for the same reasons time and time again I would either be put on a strong development programme or managed out of the firm.

The second is that we have been in the top 6 all season. We are stuttering towards finishing in the top 6 and so we are trying to stop the teams below from catching us with no real signs we can make a late push for second. You only have to look at how the Leicester fans reacted to our draw there to see how this sort of mentality can bring out undue frustration.

Now, before I get shot down, I am not a Shez outer and I am perfectly happy with our league position. I am confident of a top 6 finish. A win on Tuesday and four points from Millwall and Leeds next week and we will be in a very strong position going into the final 11 games of the season. However, I would like to see some creativity in what Shez does to overcome this problem against the "lesser" teams (noting that Yeovil are on a decent run and the result is a good one).

P.S. How good was Smalley's take? One of the best goals on the Championship this morning - take a bow Messrs Maher and Smalley.

  11. All this talk of an anthem is getting a little long in the tooth.

The closest thing we have is MOD. We can sing it on match days if people want to. As it has no words, people cant even use the "not everyone knows the words" line!!

    Maybe at Millwall....

  12. No it wasnt 7 days after as we kicked off at 3pm yesterday and 5.20pm when we played leicester! so ner! you werent dreaming your just dumb!

Again a great opportunity to point out the irony of a statement on this messageboard. However, if this is your attitude I think it would be lost on you.

Anyway, you can believe what you believe, I will believe what I believe but if he reaches 10 bookings, his suspension will start after 7 days like Taylors (the time of kick off doesnt count, it is 7 days not 168 hours i.e. the number of hours in a week).

  13. No need to shout.

Maybe he will, maybe he won't. Perhaps it's best just to say, 'Lee, don't do anything stupid for four games', rather than forcing him out of two games against average sides where he could and should be the difference...

He only has to get through Saturday to be able to play in those two games as yellow card suspensions impact after 7 days.

The alternative way of looking at it is that the yellow card amnesty is 28 Feb. Three games and no booking and he is fine (but can you really see him not getting booked at Millwall?!?!?!)

  14. I'm all for hitting The Horniman in Hays Galleria (Tooley Street and within :censored: distance of the tube). We can then fly the flag on the side of the river for a few hours before heading towards the ground. Apparently a few are a little scared of flying the flag though

In all seriousness, I dont really care where we go as long as it is doesnt take too long to get to the ground and we can makimise drinking / dutch courage time!!! Charing cross trains are every 5-10 mins and take under 5 to London Bridge. On football day, trains to South Bermondsey run every few mins.

    Plan for the day anyway:

  15. Oops. Stupid internets.

Ireland France in the 6 Nations also clashes.

Try Sports Cafe near Trafalgur Square. They normally show it all on different TVs. They can prob help you out

  16.

DJ coming back is a good move but was expected if he regained fitness by the end of the window.

Davies going, if we got the £100k quoted in the Chron, is a great move, doubling our money.

My only concern is that if Hughes gets injured / when he is suspended our forward line is not Lewi and Windass with Wolfy on the bench. Whilst Lewi and Windass are both good players they like to play deep which is hardly going to push defences!!!

  17. Leeds Utd have just been allocated the WHOLE of the RRE on police advice......Now that is seriously going to p*** a few people off on here!!!

Agreed although, whilst we have to take police advice etc etc to get the game on, why do we always seem to keel over. I think there are three things that seem a little strange about the decision:

    • We had a limited allocation at Stockport to stop trouble. However, it is easier to give Leeds more to stop trouble. Two poplar opposite arguments from the same police force
    • The club did not advise ST holders they would have to move out of the RRE this season and so should have stood their ground - I'm sure we could have put the game on and it sounds like a rouse to get more revenue
    • Leeds will now have nearly half the capacity of the ground and so will essentially be playing in a home atmosphere (not necessarily a bad thing given our recent record at Elland Road)

It's an understandable but frustrating decision as, given the behaviour of some our favourite wannabe FYC members this year, you can understand why the police are worried about this one.

  18. My own personal thoughts are that CTs form has dipped after the Peterborough game where he played very well in the second half. Unfortunately for two months he got used to playing with Jones. Whilst Jones, I think, upset us defensively, he got forward very very well. Therefore, whenever they doubled up on Taylor, he would come forward allowing Taylor more space. Lomax gets forward about as frequently we have cold snaps like this one. This limits the amount of space Taylor has and he needs to learn to deal with that. It's overcoming things like this that will determine whether or not he becomes an excellent rather than very good winger.

  19. Sony everytime for me, especially if you are thinking of the Blu Ray upgrade. Their players (new models) tend to get rave reviews and they offer a fantastic integrated home cinema.

With regards to the TVs, the difference between 720p and 1080p will be noticeable from 37" TVs and up. Therefore, you should notice the difference between these two. The Sony will be noticeably higher resolution. It will be difficult to notice in a shop as the LCD is likely to look more grainy (your are likely to be too close to the TV in the shop) and hence you may think the plasma has a higher resolution.
