  1. Thats fair enough, I wouldn't want to sit next to someone who had falsely accused me of something out of spite either. I think when people are saying though that the club didn't back him on the issue (and I don't know all the facts here) but it seems like they have backed neither of them. They didn't ban him from the ground on the allegations of assault, nor did they force the drummer to move. Why should they anyway, they have little to know evidence to back up either's claims. The club seem to have just stayed out of it and let the police sort it out. However, now it is obvious the kid is a nuisance and the guy has rightfully got off, the drummer should be forced to move and put in a different seat so he isn't annoying anyone. Having said that I still wouldn't let this lad 'win' and stop coming to games because of him if the club do nothing.
  2. I have to say i agree the guy should have just moved stands. Seems like absolute madness to stop going to the games just because of a drummer. Having said that, the drummer sounds like an absolute tool. Regarding getting a new drum, is there a chance the trust could help out with this, but then give it to someone a bit more responsible and importantly with some sense of rhythm? Don't know if this is their area or not, but we do need a proper drum if we are going to have one, and that lad has no rhythm what so ever, just gets faster and faster until the chant fizzles out because nobody can physically clap fast enough to keep up and the words can't be made out.
  3. Lol, your right it's not your fault they haven't been on here, but they may not know about this site so you can't just take away their chance to vote and pick a song amongst yourselves for them. Unless you were around when Madness and The Specials and the like were at their peak you are unlikely to have any affinity with their music and probably unlikely to enjoy there music as it is now out of touch with modern styles. It seems many on here are of around that age group and have grown up with that music and so are voting in numbers for a song that they are fond of. For people like myself and many others, who have no connection to the music or the bands or even the era they are from, this song feels a bit old fashioned and uninspiring. I'm not just talking about people from my generation either as I believe 'older' people will hardly be likely to sing along to a song they don't really know or have any knowledge of. It may be a 'ska anthem' but it seems to me only people from a certain generation seem to 'appreciate' this sort of music as it is music that they grew up with. I don't want to pigeon hole people but that's just the impression I have got. Do you not think the choice should be a song that is an all time classic that people of all different ages will know and remember from something? That's why i've suggested that Frankly Mr Shankley's choices be put to a vote as well. Song's like Louie Louie and Move on Up are ones that almost everyone would know and they would be much more likely to take off when played after a goal. The more people the 'winner' caters for the more likely it is to be a success imo. PS. If we did try my idea to get the players or management or chairmen or whatever to pick their favourite 5 of all our suggestions it is unlikely there would be a bad one for the 'ejits' to vote for anyway. If in a week of emailing the club with suggestions we havn't got a good 10 or so for them to whittle down it would be a poor show.
  4. Not really a winner is it when as someone else has said only around 20% of our fans look at this site and only about 10% of those have bothered to vote so it is hardly decisive. I've said before that the vote needs to be done on the official website to reach as many as possible. This email franny what you think for a new song won't work, we need a proper vote on ether. Maybe the club should say get in your entries in by the end of the week and perhaps then the players or shez could pick their favourite 5 and then we could have a vote on the OS?
  5. Sorry but Guns of Navarone is nothing on Glad All Over or that one Vale sing. We have had far better suggestions that aren't on the vote from Frankly Mr Shankly as well.
  6. Some great ideas there FMS. Louie Louie would be class, easy to sing to and very catchy. Move on up would be a good one as well especially with that opening line 'Hush now child, and don't cry'. That has to rub the salt in! I don't understand what all the fuss is over 'Guns of Navarone', I think it's a terrible song in all honesty. I get the feeling people are being pulled along by the crowd.
  7. Better than being full on terrible though!!!
  8. That's a good call for 'Welcome to the Jungle'! Would get the players in the mood as well. I'm sticking mby my suggestion of UMass by the Pixies for a goal celebration song though. I think it would just sound cool blasting out when the ball hit the net! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GthrebK0Vak
  9. If we're going to go for something like 'Guns of Navarone' maybe 'Here Comes Your Man' by the Pixies would be a good choice as well. Easy riff for people to join into so fits into that category. Personally I would prefer if all teams just dropped the songs and we all just celebrated like the 'old days' but if we must have a tune I guess we might as well be original. Edit: Just to add to that whilst i'm thinking about Pixies songs maybe 'U-Mass' would be good as well. Not really one to sing along to but it would sound cool when it kicked in everytime we score and people could clap along. Thinking about it actually singing along to it would probably work as well just to the guitar riff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GthrebK0Vak No idea what is going on in this vid but I just found it for the song....
  10. Am I the only person who doesn't really like Guns of Navarone? It just seems a little too 'happy' if that makes any sense, lol. It hasn't got any balls. Also do you not think it would be wise to try and involve the Official Site in this poll and have it put on there so that a wider spectrum of the clubs fans will have a say? It could potentially end up that a large number of fans don't know the song at all and many others may just not be a fan of it. I think it would be best if we involve as many as we can, that way we're more likely to get a winner that will 'take off'. Maybe they could lay down the rules we have on the OS for suggestions, ie. catchy tune, easy to sing, etc.

  12. So he is the Lampard of League one then ;)
  13. Just had to add, we need somethign that properly fits into the bits between the oooohhhhhhhhh's. That part of the song really helps it build up some noise and get everybody singing it. The 'blue and tangerine' line suggested by oafc2004 will fit in the 2nd or maybe 3rd gap that leads onto the main part of the song. Anyone any ideas?
  14. oafc2004, Rummy's version fits perfectly to that song in the clip on youtube. If we can get this going at Swansea it will be class! Hopefully we could make this a regular fixture at away games when more people have heard it.
