  1. OS article

Very interesting this as I mentioned that owtb & Trust Oldham both have a multi national readership and daily have hits from many countries to the club last week.

Bob for some reason Israel dont register on the stats for the Trust site or owtb I believe

    1.

    United Kingdom

    210 3.50 00:05:23 73.33% 42.38%

    2.

    United States

    7 2.00 00:05:40 100.00% 71.43%

    244 unique visiters came from 18 countries/territories

    :United_States::lol:

  2. I suppose Jim Gannon might inspire me to buy - just to see it all go horribly wrong with my own eyes.

After reading what "Countyboy" said on another thread: http://www.owtb.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...0&start=720 , I'm voting Gannon on every poll * from now on so he can be ripped into by our fans before a player is signed or a ball is kicked...

    * cos I know TTA will base their appointment on these polls...

  3. Finally...a post for :censored:outs to "out" themselves...that way, next season, we'll know who's actually been to the games and knows what's going on rather than the prats we've had this season wading in with their opinion, which frankly, means :censored:!

That reminds me, has anyone thought any more about my "Happy Clapper" section (at BP/Failsworth/wherever) idea?

  4. Well, there's one standout statistic from this poll so far; I wonder if it will influence anyone's decision - not mentioning any names...

Surely you're not suggesting we, the fans, are being allowed to choose our manager, are you? That would never happen again, would it?

  5.

Yes, but by voting I wouldn't need to do that every time.

Besides, having discounted Gannon and Hill as virtually impossible, I think I'd prefer Crossley to Gray or Bunn.

Good point. Anyway, I think the webmaster should have a say... I believe they had a liking for aliteration but a Bunn+Crossley dream team would make great puns around Easter.

  6. I cant believe that some people on here would rather see a bunch of millionaires win rather than their bread and butter football!

Is that what it's about: jealousy? I don't give a :censored: how much the England players earn as long as they try and win the fecking thing. And, yes, I know, that's the problem these rich tvvats don't even TRY...

Let's say Latics were bought by some Middle East oil-rich outfit with more money than sense. They brought in the best (and most highly-paid) players in the world and we rose from the :censored: league we're in to the top four of the Prem. How would you feel about watching "a bunch of millionaires" thrash the Greedy League teams into oblivion then at our brand new stadium in Failsworth? Exactly.

As someone else said, a lot of people in this thread sound like Manure fans.. What next? Chanting "Argentina" etc.?

Perhaps, it's cos I've seen a Latics promotion and a cup final and a few semi-finals but, in the words of one of England's former managers, "I'd LOVE IT" if England won the World Cup

  7. I thought you'd finished on this thread ;)

Regarding Education, I am afraid this is one area I am particularly elitist. I do not believe in the extension of University Education to all. Education is a pyramid for 2 reasons:

    1. Not everybody is good at the academic stuff

    2. Not everybody wants to do the academic stuff

Some people are just not suited to University. They are much better off getting vocational training or getting a trade under their belts. Unfortunately, the policy of openeing it up made everyone think it is a good idea for them. Frankly it isn't and it took a strong personality to say anything to the contrary, particularly where I was educated. This has resulted in lots of people leaving university and hating work as they are doing jobs they considered "beneath them".

Education for the sake of it is not always a good thing. It shifts people expectations when sometimes that person is frankly not suited. We need a wide ranging education system that suits the need of the individual. We do not need a University focussed education system.

Agree with most of this. I was called an elitist in 1999 when Blair was rolling out his "degrees for all" spin. The cynic in me wonders if this was also done since, due to the demise of the manufacturing sector, there aren't that many "trades" available for school-leavers anymore?

  8. I've been doing it for the last 3 / 4 years and have loved doing it however I'm now unable to dedicate the time required to the task. You do get a free copy of the game and the guys at SI are great to work

for and with and will give you as much assistance as required. It's a great thing to be part of so if anyone has anything serious to add then I'm sure Dean would be really grateful, although I suppose the reaction his post has received was only to be expected.

I think after last season's, er, 'effort', it's the "must go to as many matches as possible" that's holding everyone back from applying...
