  1. We're no longer record holders:

"Manchester City's 3-0 lead in seven minutes equals the Premier League record for the quickest 3-0 lead, set by Tottenham v Oldham in September 1993."

Just saw this - we were still queuing up outside White Hart Lane when the first two went in! We got hammered 5-0 but the atmosphere in the Latics end was fantastic that day. We were cheering the team on up to and after the final whistle!

Back to the Burnley match - my brother-in-law and his lad were two of the "Burnley fans" who left early. Mind you they are reds really who jumped on the Burnley bandwagon...

  2. That has bugger all to do with anything. I hate everything that red :censored:e club, 'supporters' and players stand for. I think halfwaymick summed it up perfectly. The sheer arrogance and hypocrisy which comes out of that place beggers belief. United are out........boo hoo what a shame. Just needs Chelsea now to stand firm and they end up with just the Mickey Mouse Carling Cup for the season.

    +10!!!

Fantastic news - made my f*cking day!!!

And so what if we have no Greedy League teams in the "Champions League" semi finals. Maybe they should look at re-organising it again to squeeze more money out of the fans...

  3. Just watched the "highlights" of our last 2 home matches and noticed we were attacking the Chaddy End first half in both... ...and we went on to lose both. I remember we used to hate playing towards the Chaddy in the first half and there were always some "grumblings" if we lost the toss and were turned around. It usually made a (psychological) difference to the team and we (in the Chaddy) wanted to the goals saving for the 2nd half. Anyone else remember this?

  4. I agree that repeating something twice doesn’t necessarily make it true, but seeing it with my own eyes does!

In all my years of sitting (and standing) in the main stand paddock I’ve never seen any trouble from the home supporters. As such the behaviour of the stewards was, to say the least, a little strange. I can only conclude that someone at the club was worried about how the home fans would react to DP if we were losing?

One or two of the home fans were taking the mickey out of these stewards, which was certainly more entertaining than some of the football on display!

Fair enough - sorry if I sounded a bit arsey. It is pretty rare to see our fans kicking it off at home - I was there when Rickers goal (for Walsall) at home to Walsall caused what I'd call a "mini handbags exchange" in the Chaddy due to the "Die Ricketts, die fans" and the "pro Rickers fans" disagreement the other Xmas time but you're right it is unusual.

  5. I used to wake up on a saturday and couldnt wait to leave Blackpool for the hour drive, the walk to the shop and then the game, good, bad or indifferent and could never understand anyone not bothering to go, I unfortunately have become one of them, I dont even listen to latics world as the coverage is poor. The grounds crap, footballs crap, supports crap, atmospheres bitter, there is no fun in any of it and Oldham Athletic has always been a big part of my life, till now.

After moving here in 2001, I used to set my alarm to get up at 7am on a Saturday (even after a skinful the night before!) so I could listen to the commentary and chat with other exiles on MSN (and more recently OWTB). Nowadays, if I wake up I go back to sleep... No interest in it.

I used to be gutted if matches were called off at Xmas/New Year but when I was over last Xmas, wasn't arsed... I've said this a few times on here before but I missed a home match when I was over last August/Sept - went on the beer instead. We lost 3-0 as well, but even then, years ago I would have been glad that I went. Something's gone seriously wrong at OAFC... And the silent majority are voting with their feet.

But if you were 3 successful businessmen who'd lost a ton of money already on this "project" would you care enough to throw more money at it? I don't think the threat of relegation to the bottom tier and the beginning of the ultimate demise of OAFC matters to TTA.

    <puts tin hat on>

  6. What has it come to when Dave Penney is so unpopular that he has to be protected from Latics supporters (all 2700 of them!) by the club's own stewards?

    :ranting:

You said that in another thread. Just repeating the same "story" in different threads doesn't make it true...

  7. The "few chavs" stop coming, you will moan about our poor attendences and the fact that people are stopping coming because we are :censored:e. If your that bothered, then encourage some atmosphere yourself.

I'm sick to :censored:in death of happy clappers, who sit there on their hands moaning at fans who are passionate enough to tell the gob:censored:e players and manager what we think of them.

Matthew Upson said the other week about his fans booing them and singing your not fit to wear the shirt : "I would rather play for a set of fans passionate enough to sing things like that."

But you sit on your hands at the next game and, instead of creating a "positive" atmosphere, just give dirty looks to people who say anything negative as we lose at home to another team who are actually :censored:e!!!!!!

    Well said!

  8. I remember going to the football, enjoying it and coming home and waiting eagerly for the next match, even if we lost. That's it. And this wasn't all that long ago either.

Now it's all about Trusts, roles within the club, income streams (I hate that term), development, planning, chief executives, and marketing. It's like a who's who of bull:censored: bingo.

Football has never been so dull and unimaginative.

When we sealed promotion in 1991, I remember a bloke I used to work with saying "promotion will be the end of Latics". At the time I thought he was full of, er, it.

Now I would never swap the 3 years in the top flight for anything BUT was he right?

Personally, like others, I think the FA, the Greedy League and Sky was the the end of the fun.
