  1. Are you blaming Wellens for their poor form?

I'm sure it had :censored: all to do with their managerial change did it?

The day young Ferguson got the job at Donny was the death knell for Wellens, he was one of a few United players to stand up to Slur Alex in public (Hotel dining room as Red nose was sat with some directors) and ask him why he was leaving him out of the side...few days later Wellens was at Blackpool!

  2. This is it. I was actually enjoying last season for the first time in ages, but then we tried to sign a rapist, gave up on a season when we were in with a shout of the play offs, kicked me out of the Chaddy were I'd had a season ticket for 45 years, blatantly lied about the new stand being open for the start of the season to sell season tickets for it, appointed a no mark of a manager despite saying it had been the highest calibre of candidates ever, then lined up his replacement before the season started, another guy with zero management experience.

On top of all this, the man at the top constantly tells us we are over achieiving, punching above our way for not playing at a level we haven't played in since 1971. There is no other ambition at this club then to merely survive, and sadly, that attitude has spread to many supporters. There's no ambition and no hope any more, and that is the saddest part.

If Steve R says things like this I know it must have got really bad!

  3. Yes I went to Scarborough. Hitched it from York. Got a lift from John Flanagan. I wonder if he still goes? Remember Bobby Collins playing. Bright spot got back to York and got in free to see Roxy Music.

Also went to the game at South Shields. Drew 0-0. Lost the replay at BP. If you think it is bad now you didn't watch them then.

John lives in The Phillipines now

  4.

The Friday night thing backfired on us, our crowds were lower on Fridays than they are on Saturdays and we probably lost a generation of kids, on the other hand it gave me a lot of free Saturdays and the chance to get to Boundary Park a fair bit.

Ha ha,yes, and plenty of Boozy away days! Good point about the kids, despite what we have had to put up with the last 20 years,we have a good percentage of fans in the 14 to 21 age group, none of these experienced the glory years but are Latics through and through. Never liked the Friday nights myself, hard work going for a drink after the match wrapped up like a Dogs Dinner in a steamy Pub!

  5. We dont concede many (most of the time) because Kelly effectively plays as a 3rd centrehalf, its a formation best described as a 5-4-1.

Good point, on saying that Dummigam spent most of the game up front, out wide to compensate for our lack of a decent winger, all seems very unsettled and we are into the second third of the season

  6. Thanks for that Sheridan (I think) although I find your hatred puzzling as we never really had a rivalry since maybe the 60s and we were pretty much miles apart during the hooligan years of the 70s and 80s when a lot of rivalries developed. Anyway I'd take getting stuffed by Latics and Rochdale right now, it's definitely better than getting stuffed by Stalybridge!

Hi Max, are you still in touch with Wrighty? I might pop over again this season if you've not already played them, I'll definitely get a match in when we have a free Saturday.

    Hi China,sorry I missed this.still in touch yes,we are there 16th January.

  7.

Even as a County fan I'd find it hard to argue that we're as big as Oldham, potentially maybe but our history is mostly lower divisions and we've never played top flight, I think County and Tranmere are similar clubs but I always saw Oldham as similar to Blackburn and Bolton, maybe that's because I grew up in the 70s.

China,I always had us down as being slightly bigger than yourselves and Tranmere, mainly down to the fact you both played Friday nights at one time to obtain a few extra supporters from the bigger neighbours. I would say since Sky tv has taken over the sport all 3 clubs are about the same size, Bolton and Blackburn slightly bigger due to them not being as much of a Manchester/Liverpool over spill.

  8. Not trying to be a Party Pooper and kill a thread but after the last 3 or 4 games I would say defence is the least of our worries.Nice to have players like Dieng and Eckersley putting pressure on players and creating competition for places, wish we could say the same with ball playing midfielders (our only one has retired),Wingers (who can take a man on or at least cross a ball) and Strikers who can look like they might sore now and then.
