  3. This isnt good or bad news we dont even know if we were chasing him, oh well we move on
  4. Is anyone bothered lets focus out attention on getting hughesy back
  5. for blackpool- must have been reported target that agreed elsewhere Ian Holloway today made his first signing since becoming Blackpool manager with the capture of Irish Under 21 international striker Billy Clarke on a free transfer from Ipswich Town. The player, whose contract with Roy Keane's outfit expires on July 1st, has signed a two year deal with a one year option subject to a medical. Billy is a product of the successful Portman Road academy and made his Ipswich debut in November 2005 against Cardiff. Since then, Billy has found himself in and out of the Ipswich side, and loan spells at Colchester, Falkirk, Darlington, Northampton and Brentford have followed. Blackpool have beaten off a number of other clubs for the striker's signature (albeit lowere division ones) and will be hoping that Clarke has a similar impact to the likes of Alex John-Baptiste.
  6. Athletic are hoping to add at least two more new faces to the squad before pre-season training kicks off on Monday. One player arrived for talks yesterday, agreed terms and passed a medical but then asked for time to consider his options as he is wanted by other clubs, including a Championship side. FURMAN? Athletic, who have not given up hope of completing that deal, were quietly confident that at least one more would go ahead over the weekend. After releasing nine senior players at the end of last season, new boss Dave Penney has been busy trying to reshape the squad. So far he has brought in the versatile Rob Purdie (ex-Darlington), midfield man Jon Worthington (ex-Huddersfield) and Wales left-back Joe Jacobson (ex-Bristol Rovers). On top of those, experienced centre-back Sean Gregan agreed a one-year deal to return to the club, six weeks after being released due to financial constraints. All the players are due back in training next week and will face a varied schedule in the build-up to the new season. Apart from the usual hard slog of running and general fitness work, they will have swimming and boxing sessions.
  7. Stop worrying we will get another in no danger
  8. ok so my post is a bit messed up but you get what i mean
  9. I have been thinking about what has happened recently and am pleased with the captures of Gregan and Abbott, i have more confidence for various reasons as to why we will have a decent squad hopefully. With 4 signings and maybe a loan i think we will be better than the struggling team i predicted. Comparing the possible team for this season to last we look more settled, rather than all the loans we had last season. Highlighted in bold are where i think we will improve This season last season gk- fleming gk crossley lb jacobson lb jones/golbourne/lomax- uncertainty we now have our own player rb eardley rb eardley cb gregan cb gregan cb hazel/new cb hazel rw purdie/smalley rw smalley lw taylor lw taylor cm wothington cm allott cm furman strong possiblity cm whittaker st abbott st lewi/windass/any loan player (all were poor) st new- hughes/clarke possible st hughes subs subs new gk flem lomax lids hazel/new stam smalley/purdie maher whittaker any other striker o grady lewi/brooke so on the base of it IF we get another GK, CB, CM- furman looks likely, ST- clarke/hughes we will have a stronger more established team i think with little amounts of loans like we always do. More positive roll on signings and august
  10. well i was thinking if we keep him fit and with someone like hughes or clarke it would be a good signing, partner him with o grady/smalley/lewi we have a problem
  11. pleased providing we get another frontman in please hughes come back what a partnership that would be, if not billy clarke, we would have an improvement on last years strikeforce then!!
  12. Im quite please baring he stays injury free, if we can get hughes back like speculated or get billy clarke in to i think it will be a major improvement on last years strikeforce
  13. FFS even im not complaining at having him back whats the harm on reduced terms, i still think we will get another centre half in then we will be in a better position than last year!!! We all know how solid Gregan is at most times no better centre half in the league, hes lost weight got fit..... I for one am happy with this i dint want him to leave and it was probably a good thing he did as we have now got him back on reduced terms if we would have offered him new deal i guarantee he would be on more than he is now
  14. Im pleased doubt we could have replaced gregan with anyone better at this level
  15. Why does it say hes the clubs 4th summer signing not exactly a signing is he
  16. Ive just been told directly by R.O.A.M that the next signing is Paul Hayes!! hes going to kill me now ohh well
  17. would be the best signing we could ever make
  18. Agreed i will take the full blame for this
  19. all the panic for nothing ohh well you have gotta love pre season speculation
  20. dave penney describes these reports as rubbish thank god
  21. im not saying we will neccesarily go down ill change my view to i think we will struggle, only based on who we have got, who we have signed so far and media speculation as to the calibre of player were looking at! So far we have no one with any real quality bar taylor, but we will see wont we ill still always support latics wherever
