  1. if thats the case what are we doing!!!! ATHLETIC have made former Bristol Rovers player Joe Jacobson their third summer signing. And the 22-year-old left-back, who captained Wales under-21s, revealed that he completed the transfer having never spoken to manager Dave Penney. The deal was finalised by Jacobson’s Rochdale-based agent John Seasman, the former Luton Town and Millwall striker, while the player was on holiday in Egypt. Jacobson also admitted that Athletic’s Neal Eardley, who he knows well from international football, played a part in the move. Cardiff-born Jacobson has signed a two-year contract, and said: “I spoke to Neal while I was away on holiday and he only had good things to say about the club. “I think I have joined a bigger and better club than Bristol Rovers and I am delighted to have the opportunity to play here. “I am looking for us to be up near the top challenging for promotion. I cannot wait to get started.” Jacobson, who has appeared twice on the bench for the full Wales team, never held talks with the Athletic manager due to the player being on holiday. He said: “I know my agent spoke to a number of clubs while I was away and this deal was finalised within the space of two days.” Jacobson joined Cardiff as a nine-year-old and eventually made two senior appearances for the Bluebirds. After loan spells at Accrington Stanley and Bristol Rovers, he signed a full-time contract for the latter in the summer of 2007. Jacobson made a total of 83 first-team appearances for Rovers, with his one goal ironically coming against Athletic. It was the winner at Boundary Park in a 1-0 victory in August 2007. But injury restricted him to 22 games during a frustrating 2008/09 season, and Jacobson admitted the time was right for a new challenge as his contract had expired. He said: “I was initially ruled out through injury and then struggled to get back into the side after getting back to full fitness. “The club knew I was not happy and the decision to leave was mutual — I didn’t want to stay and they wanted me to leave.”

  3. ive heard of him bristol rovers dont want him why do we?
  4. Id like to see us go for someone like that Furman, hope thats true, someone like Trotman, Llera, but its unlikely that we will
  5. COMMENTS FROM GAS FORUM They have a quality player there! I agree. Despite being slated by many on here, I do feel that JJ is a player we may well regret letting go. If he can find the form he found in the early stages of his time with us then I agree. However, last season (granted he did have injuries) he looked well out of his depth and, based on that, IMO he was rightly released (considering we're trying to free wages for new, better signings). Regardless of all of that, I hope he does well as he seems like a good lad and I have nothing against him at all. Best of luck JJ. think JJ is a very good player who was in good form at the start of last season before injuries. I wouldn't be surprised if he does very well at Oldham and gets back into Wales' international reckoning Jj can't pass to save his life and was skinned all too easily. He was awful at the end of the season before last, prior to his injury and was overshadowed by a right footed rightback in the left back position. Might just be good enough at this level, but no higher imo A decent player who was an improvement on Carruthers. He was pretty inconsistent though and sometimes I found him to be lightweight and prone to lapses in concentration. I trust Trolls to improve the squad so I have no doubt that who ever plays LB for the 09/10 campaign will be a better addition than JJ was. Good luck to him.
  6. id say im pleased with worthington over allott to be fair
  7. its just not very encouraging a player that has been released by a team we should/are better than that has played 6 games last season, a player released by huds that they dont want... its like all rejects roll up to BP get yourself a deal
  8. we will see so far so bad as it goes... lets see whos in next like for like so far we have replaced allott with worthington- unsure possibly we have a better player jones with jacobson- not promising at all lids/maher with purdie- again unsure
  9. ive got to say it looks like we will be mid table next season unfortunately whos next let me guess probably someone released by a league 1 or 2 team
  10. makes me feel a little better- off the gas forum but he was released not rejected them I think he's a good player who was unlucky with injuries in the final year of his contract and struggled for form when he got back into the side and was probably, on balance, rightly released. Although things didn't work out for him here, I have no doubt he could make a career in League One, and wouldn't be totally surprised if he went higher. Good luck to him.
  11. its seriously worrying no one can slate me for this if hes not good enough for bristol fff ing rovers why do we want him

  21. I only provide constructive criticism When something good needs to be said i say it, when bad things need to be said i say it, only natural if there was no negativity the world would be a perfect place. This forum doesnt have to be a place where only positive views can be posted does it
