  2. Gilchrist always walked but to be fair that is made easier when your average is about 60.

Without taking anything away from Gilchrist, anyone can get an average of 60 when you face average bowling for so long. Coupled with the fact that when he was batting down the order, Langer and Hayden had already exhausted the bowling before Gilchrist even faced it.

  3. With of you favourite player and if you want a special personalised one with your name and number that will be coming soon too.

OK, I have one for you. All of us exiles have another sport that we follow. Mine is Aussie Rules and the Brisbane Lions....I have seen Hockey badges on here and American Football.

Sooo. How about a diagonally split shirt? For mine, the left side of the diagonal would be the blue and top half of the latics crest and the right side of the diagonal, the maroon and the bottom half of the Lions crest....just a thought

  4. It shows how far we have come that the last 2 results are disppointing. The only concern I have is that they looked very tired second half at Dale, Just hope the full week off can re-charge the batteries. I'd have snapped your hand off for this position at the start of the season and from what I've seen of the rest of the divison if we keep hold of everyone there is no reason we can't be here come May.... Last season a defeat wasn't worth getting bothered about because we were just poor, the majority of our draws we could've easily turned into wins.

I was about to write the same thing this morning before heading off to the Gabba.

The irony is, is that it is hugely satisfying that we are disappointed. I havent felt like that in years.

We have no one to fear in this division but ourselves and if we can stretch our domination to an hour instead of a half, we will get through that too.

  5. The greatest day in my life was kissing the penalty spot (and getting an infection in my bottom lip from the pitch) after Redfearn's pen secured us the title.

Being at the Gabba watching Cook and Trott destroy the Aussie bowling comes a close second....Ponting's grounded but claimed catch off Cook made it even more satisfying.

Same old Aussies, always cheating! The prick even had the audacity to say he was disappointed with Cook for not walking....because he said he would. Yes Ricky...only if he was actually out!!

There were 7,000 there today; six thousand were Poms! look out for the red and white JD Sports away kit!

What made it even more memorable was meeting a fellow Latics fan on Stanley Street after the game.

    Truly Memorable!!

Awesome weekend, but today was sweet....fantastic way to turn 50!

  6. The Brisbane Lions have operated a Season or members card at the Gabba for some years now and it is extremely effective. It isnt a swipe, it is a bar code which is scanned at the turnstile by a permanently affixed scanner. Seat numbers are pre allocated which whilst it doesnt prevent theft, it serves as a massive deterrent; double or over allocation is a thing of the past. What it also allows is exit and antry at any time. Scan out, scan back in etc

Should we have season cards (right now) - No - massive unnecessary expense at this present time

Is it something the club are well aware of and would like to move to - Yes

The only way cards could happen is if every turnstile was fitted with the required technology, plus a sizeable upgrade to the technology within the club. Not a chance of this happening, it is however in the plans for the new ground as I understand it. In fact they have already made part of a move towards it with the Teamcard - other clubs have combined this loyalty card with season ticket in an all-in-one solution.

  7. I still believe that SC or "the remaining amigo", always had more personal wealth to invest in the club than is ever suggested. The other two, whilst thankfully digging deep, always viewed the whole experience as a hobby and a bit of a gamble....which they may yet still get a return on. Corney on the other hand does appear to have the passion for the game, the fans and the club and I for one am more than happy that he is our chairman. Dickov and Taggart are fantastic appointments and Eaves is a fantastic bit of business. Nominal fee plus add ons for an un proven, untried player can only benefit us. Everyone has three goals in them, Tom's were all in one game....big whoop. I put 4 past one of my work mates yesterday. They didnt mean anything. Neither did Tom's...except we were paid handsomely for them. We are Moving forward on a very positive wave again.

If we go under, it wont be for the lack of fighting and It is an awesome feeling not to have to support a club that is just going to roll over and die.

We are and always will be OAFC.

One Amigo Football Club somehow sounds right.

  8. Good Interview with the wonder kid. Already talking the talk like every other 30 goal a season Premiership striker.

Loved the last bit when he was talking about the hatrick....."Unfortunately our striker went down injured and I had to come on. I managed to put the ball away on that day - it must have been my boots

    I feel a weekly serial coming on;

The story revolves around lazy boy footballer Tommy Eaves who finds an old pair of soccer boots in his grandmothers loft, which on wearing them turn him from a bad soccer player into a fantastic soccer player. They apparently hold some magical power that transforms Tommy's soccer prowess, leading him to score goals and also be in the right place at the right time and not be crap.

Personally, I hope he scores a bagful and leads England to World cup glory in 2014

Good luck Tommy old boy, cant wait for you to find an old pair of cricket boots next...

  9. I haven't vowed to not go again this season but i can't make it because of work. So you can borrow my season ticket if you can get to Broadgreen Hospital to pick it up. To be honest it'd probably be cheaper for you to just buy a ticket.

Its all relative Rosa. I too offer mine if you can get to Brisbane to pick it up. To be honest, Itd probably be cheaper for you just to go to Broadgreen Hospital......See, not so bad now

  10. Sometime in the mid 90's when partly fuelled by Sky's every game matters marketing machine which has culminated in a culture of football being put on this pedestel that it is way more important than it actually is. This has also culminated in the rise of the premier league and the notion if you are there you are someone and if your not your nobody. We are now heading towards the business end of the season and we will be treated to the usual fair of games broadcast on tv and the ususal pictures of fans blubbering as their teams get relegated and crying tears of joy when they win a promotion.

Now I don't know about anyonelse but I always thought the strength or weekness of my football team will not make me more popular, it will not get me a promotion at work, it will not make me stronger run faster or leap higher, It will not define my popularity with the opposite sex (fortunately) or mean that I will go on holiday not have to go to work for a year.

If we get relegated this season I will be thoroughly pished off but I will get over it life will go on and hopefully so to will some of the players although I won't hate them if we go down life's to short. Perhaps football has been the victim of its own success in this respect perhaps the bubble needs not bursting but certainly deflating who knows maybe people may start to turn their backs on football to an extent as match tickets rise the top teams continue to monopolise the trophies, footballers become more detached from reality and owners even more so it will have to hit the glass ceiling at some point.

    Where will it end?

Football isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that." — Bill Shankly

    Bloody jocks did it !!!

  11. This managing lark seems a tad too difficult for our dave at present, maybe he could find something he's more suited to......oh i dunno, maybe counting parking tickets or something.........

Shouldn't be too taxing.....with soon to be only 10 cars parked at the ground. He wouldn't even need to take his shoes off!!

Just as well you said counting rather than organising though.

"OK, I have a Rolls Royce, an old XR6, eight Fiestas and all this space....OK, i'll put the Roller right at the back...couldnt afford the insurance if I hit it, or the repairs if it hit me, the XR6 at the front with all its fancy spoilers and trims which actually do absolutely nothing to enhance performance, but at least it looks good ........and thats it. This is easy !!!"
