I reckon Micah Richards giving us a mention activates the sell on clause
Was the implication that the dual support thing was just a ruse to get the letter read? Really hope so.

Remember that Wolves game. The '...he's got no hair...' chant was ringing.

Great refereeing

Seems without Conlon, but with Sheron still on the pitch we can play some very nice passing football...
Playing against 10 helps.

Do you think the reduced allocation was on Police advice or is there some reason Oldham are reluctant to give the whole away end? ( do you usually give it all if a club can sell it ? ) If this game has a chance of being the promotion game all it will do is drive 2000 more away fans into the home end and have people maybe travelling without a ticket. I can't believe for a minute anyone thinks that is a better solution than having us all in one place.
Let's hope that common sense prevails and whoever made that decision has a rethink. 1700 tickets went in 12 minutes and that was to ST holders only.
Whatever let's hope for both sets of fans to behave like adults ( unlike the last few times we have met where neither have done so )
2000 more away fans. Course.

Some people where I sit fucked off after 25 minutes and never returned, at least we got a quid out of them.
Proven to be a good call in fairness.

As Frankly Mr Shankly has said previously, bipolar Tics. It was beyond shit but it is what we are. Completely unpredictable and too often poor. We'll go and win a couple of games though and the mood on here will change massively.
We're not good enough to play well consistently and we'll continue to get a shit result for every two decent ones. We'll still average close to 2 points a game though and have as much chance as another 8 teams of going up.

There were only 3 stands during both the Scouser games.

Booked those cheap train tickets when they went on sale, but I'm not going now. 14:30 going from Victoria (assume it'll stop at Stalybridge and Greenfield). 10:49 back the following morning. Can email the tickets over if they're of use to anyone.

It's times like this I wish I was still 13 years old and had a decent amount of eggs. Come on Athleticos, do us proud.

Walked in late at 2-0 down... Walked straight back out with some others on their way out when I realised the score. Started a thread on here about how shit we were. Obviously aged well.
Good celebrations in a packed White Hart though. Absolutely loads had left thinking we were done and dusted.

Hmm. Thought Frank didn't fancy Colclough because of his criminal past? Madine is currently subject to a suspended sentence...
I think that was put to bed at the time. I think it was confirmed we'd offered hima deal.

I was there, I heard the Southport players brought the wrong boots not expecting the snow (no satellite pictures back then). Bert Lister scored 6, but the star player was the great Bobby Johnstone who gave a magical display.
I think Bert would've been rightly aggrieved had he have been pipped to the sponsor's man of the match.

Agreed. At centre-half.

He's weak enough tackling with his left foot so doubt it would be a career changer for him.
Regarding Irwin, if Stuart Pearce had signed for United when they wanted him we may never have heard of Gary Neville !!
I listened to that Overlap podcast, too.

Well you say that in jest obviously but we managed that form under him in the 2nd half of last season with predominantly the same players. We have a more experienced coach now who knows what it takes to win promotion at the business end of the season. We have what is a better squad than then and certainly will be if we sign those extra couple of players that's needed then all those factors considered promotion is very much on this season.
As much as I'd take a play-off spot, we'd be so underprepared for league football.

Still remember us coming out to the 'Beverley Hills Cop' them tune in the late 80's/Early 90's. Fond memories as a 7 year old Sat behind the hoardings of the Chaddy. "Boys are back in town" and The Rugrats for the away team. Happy days.
Should get the Roger Palmer rap out. I can still recite it. The B-side has long gone from the memory bank, though.
Happy new year, all. Up the Tics.

I’d suggest anyone writing the nomination gets help from a local government official, MP better than local councillor, to support the process.
Of course there’s a chance Frank has turned an honour down already, it’s not that unusual.
No speeches at a honours ceremony, the recipient usually gets to speak to the royal in attendance for a few minutes, the higher the award the longer the conversation.
No chance he'd turn down an honour.

At least the wanky 'dee dee dum dee dee doo' song might might've had its final airing.

I wouldn't look too much into that. Depending where he llives/where he was going... Probably not that uncommon.
