He’s a people person clearly and wants to be among the fans. I really hope this doesn’t put him off but I wouldn’t blame him.
I suspect he likes being on TV, too. It's not a criticism but there's no denying he enjoys the limelight.

It feels like we’ve entered the hysterical phase of the Unsworth out campaign. We’ve gone beyond reasonable criticism of tactics/formations to wild eyed online hysteria about every single thing to do with the club.
Im not surprised we’ve ended up here - where we’ve got loud chants and boos after 30 mins (when although we were sitting deep we were comfortable and creating as many chances as they were), sarcastic cheers when one of our player’s number goes up and now abusing Frank to his face. A guy who’s in his 70s I think, doing manual labour at the club, sinking his own cash in to turn it around from the abyss. That is as low as it gets.
I honestly don’t know where we go from here. Clearly the club want to give the manager the tools and the time to be successful. That’s all they’re looking to do. But we have a mob who are out for blood. That’s manageable when it’s online but not so much when things like today happen. Giving someone the tools and the time doesn’t mean they have a job for life. Maybe the club feel that something like end of September is reasonable? But I don’t see how these fans will allow that unless success and style is instant and consistent.
If they were planning 10/15 games before deciding, should they sack him now just to avoid this sort of abuse? That then puts the power in the hands of the abuser.
It’s a right mess. But one thing is for sure - it’s not Frank’s fault.
I'm not excusing it but do we know they were have a pop at him? Seemed to me as though feelings were expressed about Unsworth.
Obviously he deserves no grief.

Probably win the league is a bit different from will win the league.
It is slightly different. Still a shocking thing to be saying after 4 games.

We will sit in and play ultra defensive, be shocked if Unsworth is able to exploit their weaknesses, he couldn't manage it against Halifax midweek and continued to try and play it out wide for our players to put aimless crosses in, only for their 6ft 10 centrehalfs to mop everything up.
Yep.

I get what you mean but if the rumour is true that it’s a midfielder we desperately need one asap considering the two we signed are out. Anything to try and get us within reach of the top end of the table
Agreed. I just can't help feeling that it won't have the positive effect it should.

This isn't a hijack every topic Unsworth out post... But, I am struggling to get the same level of excitement I'd normally get when a "big name" is incoming.

Could be him then, who knows although if he’s another one who’s flirted with the law I don’t think Frank would fancy him?
I think we only lost out to Colclough because Chesterfield paid more. Not sure where this rumour came.
Norwood's had a drink driving ban

I can only really comment on the first half as I was boarding a plane at half time and foolishly thought that if I bought the match pass it'd be available for me to watch straight away when I got home rather than having to wait a few days for full match replays.
I thought we were a little off the pace compared to Saturday. I thought Halifax took the game to us more than Aldershot did. A positive was that we are definitely more of a passing team now. The punts into space in the channels seem to be much less frequent. We have more players that are comfortable on the ball so are willing to keep possession rather than getting rid asap. A negative was that we weren't able to move the play quick enough when they closed us down. Whether that's how they set up or that we just weren't on it I don't know.
No idea what happened in the second half, but a sign of a good manager is one who can make early changes when necessary or when a game is tight (as opposed to making 3 rage subs at half time when getting battered). Maybe we needed to move away from 442 and go for a 433 or match them up with a 352?
The punts into the channels were back second half.

I'd advocate feeding him a diet of raw red meat and getting him to knock back a can of monster before he goes out on the pitch before we think about moving him on. For Norwoods first goal on Saturday he shoved the defender out the way and it created a goal out of nothing so he can do it. Be more like that please Joe!
9 times out of 10, the free-kick gets awarded.

He was pissed off with Nuttall first half.
He hit a peach of a cross from the left and Nutall was sauntering into the box when he expected him to be sprinting. Had he been, Nutall would've walked into the ball.
I do think he's on a different wavelength. Hence coming deep so often.

Unsworth clearly doesn't possess the intellect required to make any meaningful changes that could impact the game.
1 like for like sub and no change to a game plan that wasn't working. Ended up with 3 centre forwards just hoping something would drop our way.
It Should've been changed at 60 minutes.

Enjoyable listen chaps as usual.
Even thought Unsworth came across well in Dave's interview in the main
I'd be interested to know your thoughts though about his comments on Southend, and him implying we were the better team early on and had 6 great chances I think v their 3 ( maybe I heard this wrong). We got mullered in the first 20 mins full stop.
They could have been 3 or 4 up, and bar Norwoods chance early on we created nothing from my memory and hardly had the ball!
If he can learn to cut out the shite from his interviews and just be honest....which he was apart from that comment, he will get more fans on side and we may actually get to like him!
Yeah... I liked the "stop thinking that shit" comment and support the sentiment.
No-one on the pod really mentioned the fact that the culture of thinking we'll concede/lose late has mainly come about on the back of last season. Happened so many times that it's not really a surprise people got a bit nervous at 3-1 Saturday.

I met this so called Dodds love child today, what a top supporter of his local team and a total credit to the NL, he arrived last night and ready to get a good blog about the early history of oafc from the pine villa days, said how much he loved coming to Oldham today to do this, but he could do without knobs like yourself calling him out like this!!!
Sad times when there's an argument for and against some specky Cockney doing a blog about Aldershot. Who gives a fuck either way.

I had a conversation with Macclesfields manager. I thought it worth putting in here what he told me. It’s not upto me to try and convince you that what I’m saying is true, I don’t give a shit. There’s no reason for me to make something up, what’s the point in doing that?
If you could please put "I understand..." before any statements about prices and conditions, this reassure the reader it's verbatim

Freeman was like the missing piece of a 1000 piece jigsaw that you find down the back of the couch after a month of searching.
He was excellent.
In fact, the last three players to sign, who have had the least "time to gel" had the most impact on the flow of the play.
Every one else was very good.
Great day yesterday with the Lions, Lionesses and Latics all winning.
I am not a number, I am (a) Freeman.
Without knowing anything about him, just looking at Wiki, it's clear he's decent. Played his whole career at a higher level. If he stays fit, we've got someone who's at least worthy of playing a div above

Fresh start. We've got to be on it though after his comments about them chomping at the bit and a team talk not being necessary.

Pretty much to be fair.
Hopefully Wild would show the same Loyalty as Unsworth by knocking back the big clubs when they come calling.

I still think we are talking way too early about this. It is one game.
IF Pete Wild wanted it, I'd be happy with that change and think it could be great. I'd have zero issues with that.
A punt on some other random non-leaguer? Too soon
You're right... Far too early. The fact its even being discussed reflects the number of people who have any confidence it will get better.
Under normal circumstances, it'd be crazy. All a bit foreboding.

Agree. Whole thread reeks of “Hated what I saw Saturday. Let’s start a toxic thread full of conjecture”. Some of the try-hard shoehorning of rumours in here is laughable. We’re better than this, or are we?The caveats in place for em all were fine for me... I like hearing what someone's heard from an associate.
Might have legs... Unlike your scoreboard info!
