Agree. Whole thread reeks of “Hated what I saw Saturday. Let’s start a toxic thread full of conjecture”. Some of the try-hard shoehorning of rumours in here is laughable. We’re better than this, or are we?

The caveats in place for em all were fine for me... I like hearing what someone's heard from an associate.

Might have legs... Unlike your scoreboard info!

This crossed my mind the other day. How would his teammates feel when this new guy comes in who will quite clearly be on a considerably higher salary than most of them? If they’re blanking him in the dressing room, then it’s only going one way unfortunately

That's been an issue since the beginning of time. Listened to a podcast a while ago from one of the Blackburn players in the team who was on (from memory) £750 a week when Shearer arrived. Said his salary was astronomical in comparison but everyone recognised he deserved it as he won them the league. You'd like to think the same philosophy applied here.

'Forum' - meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

"we hope these pages act as a forum for debate".

'Scrutiny' - critical observation or examination.

That's what a forum should do isn't it? We know it could all be bollocks but sometimes there's no smoke without fire........

And some of the bollocks stories have been some of the funniest in the 15+ years I've been on this site.

Where can we find these quotes attributed to Clarke? Are they from verified reliable outlets.

It's a forum. Surely people can post about what they've heard from a mate etc without scrutiny. It's not as if it has been posted as gospel.

    I enjoyed it. 😀

On the second leg of that semi, I travelled up the night before because it was an earlyish kick off. I got the bus into town. But I had to get off to be sick, I was that nervous.  A feat I then repeated on the way to the City Ground for our play-off semi clincher in 2010.

Our record in play off games is sensational, really. Counting drawn finals that went to penalties, our record is P 26, W 18, D5, L 3.  On the downside, we haven't won promotion automatically since 1985 (without actually playing on the night in question), and haven't clinched promotion at home since the 1920s.

No reason to be nervous. We knew we were beaten.

I believe Norwood is very, very good for a NL level football team, Raglan very good, Willoughby, Lundstram and Ward are good. I believe we have good and competent players for this level in the likes of Green, Fondop, Reid, Nuttall, Hogan and Hobson.

The squad really shouldn't struggle to compete, therefore for me, the buck stops squarely at the feet of the coaching and management team.

And they're all his signings anyway. Either way, he's not really got an excuse this season. Early doors but he'll know the buck stops with him now. He's been given a lot of leeway so far. I think he'll be feeling the pressure already.

I think it’s the most impressive signing I’ve seen for a while, would have been very happy with him signing if we were in league two and going for promotion . Well thought of among the Barnsley fans and they seem shocked. In addition to Wrexham bidding for him it’s a good bit of business that. ( if it is happening 😂)

Even better... Just read  a bit more of the thread and someone mentioned the Oldham 'rumour' a few days ago. Apparently, Norwood is a bit of a joker and was clearly having a laugh 🤣. I'm getting some popcorn in for the rest of it.

He's 33 next month. It's a good signing assuming he's injury free but not sure I'm buying that it's a massive coup. I'd expect a player at his stage of his career to be around League Two/NL level. We're still one of the bigger draws for players in the aforementioned leagues, especially with the extra revenue from the increased attendances over the last season, so not surprised we're a favourite to sign him.

I originally thought the same. However, having just had a quick scan of a Barnsley forum and realising that, pretty much to a man, they wanted to keep him, I now see this as a coup.

    He'll score loads.

    E I E I E I O

Also I reckon Nuttall will be on his way out.

Yes, I mean booing, in reality won't help the players or management.  I can't say I've never booed at the final whistle, although I think often people boo because of the result/performance, rather than picking on anyone individually (booing Nuttall at a friendly in Southport is another level..).  I'm not going on Saturday - would I boo if we got turned over by Southend on Saturday, if I was there?  I'd probably just think "Fuck this for a game of soldiers" and slope off to the pub, but would I have empathy for someone who's paid a fair whack to go down with the added incentive that we should be challenging this year and beating a team in turmoil?  I think I would..

It's interesting that on the podcast in the past they've talked about the psychology of fans who are negative and boo.  I think it works both ways - we're now in a position, probably for the first time since 1991, that we are expected to do something, but as the season start moves closer, there seems to have been a bit of a drop in expectation and the appeal for patience has started before a ball has been kicked (like there's been moaning, to be fair).  It's like, after the last 33 years of decline - we're scared of success and being demanding!

I'm predicting that, as we did with the 'Keep the Faith', 'Incremental improvements' will be sewn into our shirts from 26/27 onwards.

I'd first of all like to echo the thoughts on the podcast. Excellent as usual and great to hear from Billy who was excellent in his short time with us and showed what can be achieved with the right attitude and commitment.

I loved Andy's passion and that feeling amongst the fans is what we need to harness now rather than a Barryesque attitude that this is the way it is and the owner is entrenched. Let's give him both barrels and see.

This has been discussed ad nauseum and it's sad to see some splits and name calling. I wondered if we could develop an approach that utilises the fact that some fans are boycotting and some attending in a two pronged attack. Small sacrifices would be needed for both groups.

There is a third group, possibly older fans, who may not use social media and probably aren't fully aware of the whole situation. Bringing these people up to speed may bring more weight to our opposition.

Could we firstly pick a home game and get as many fans as possible to attend. Fill the main stand and get a vocal group concentrated in the Jimmy Frizzell stand. As many wearing clown outfits and masks as possible. Chanting non stop like we did at Fulham both supporting the team and letting Mo know what we think about him. I'm boycotting but I'd be prepared to make the sacrifice of buying a match ticket for that one game and I could bring plenty with me.

For the next home game have as near to a complete boycott as possible with a demonstration outside the ground. I understand the reasons for fans attending but I don't think missing one match is a lot to ask. If we talk to the people around us at the first match and explain what is happening in the second, it may be better observed. For those who insist on going, then maybe ask that they go in late or walk out with 15 minutes to go.

There is a cancer eating our club away from the inside we need to be the surgeons to cut it out. Be as vocal as possible, keep your money away from funding this disastrous vanity project and keep the fucking faith.

Lot of absolute hysteria on Willoughby based on nothing but assumptions and the fast he’s had less game time in PSF’s.

I’m sure he’ll be on the bench first match with Fondop. I expect he’ll get his chance.

Steve Whitehall scenario. Top scorer from a division below and big things expected.

I do think he'll end up being a first choice and scoring goals though (based on nothing other than soundbites from Chester fans). I imagine he's getting to grips with the fitness levels a division higher (again based on guesswork).

Bit premature to talk of him being banished.
