  1. Remember the West Brom game very well. we were playing 4-2-4 and West Brom admitted after that they decided they couldn't to Groves out directly, So they tried a differecnt tac. We had Chapman and Robins ( ? I think) in midfiled and in the first 5 minutes Len Cantello took out Chappie with a dead leg, the idea being to cut the supply line. Means to an end and all that as WBA won 1-0 with a goal from Oldham born Tony Brown to clinch promotion. Also rember the goal at Ewood and Phil Neal had a torrid time at Anfield
  2. If all 4,000 seats were adults, which it certaily will not be, then income would be £92,000 less 20% vat of about £15,300 less additional police/stewarding costs. This is not all additional money though as we would have budget for Carlisle bringing their usual numbers probably somewhere between 500-800 I would guess.
  3. It's a little known fact but one that I know to be true, that had United not signed Gordon Hill then Groves was going to OT. In the end they signed Hill from Millwall and as we all know he went on to become an England International. Whilst it was good news for us at the time, it does make you wonder what if?
  4. Thats exactly what I was thinking as I read the article. The current main stand really is in a poor poor state and seriously needs to come down sooner rather than later (and certainly before the CRE) The main stand has a capacity of around 2600 (Upper 1700 and the paddock 900) so a stand of this size would have better facilities than the current stand - and you could stick the away fans in there with the small section of the rre for overflow on bigger games
  5. Well theyve got 45 between them this season. Nice to have them all available again then we would be scoring the 2's & 3;s in a game again
  6. My preferred team for mnext week would be Cisak Lee Diamond M'Voto Black Morais Wesolowski Furman Taylor Simpson Kuqi Subs Bouzanis Tarkowski Mellor Adeyemi Tounkara But hey ho 7 of them are out
  7. Trawling through clubs websites this week I noticed that Crawley had built a new stand holding 2,154 seats in just 1 week. It cost £1 million to build with the club and the football foundation funding it 50-50. Interesting that something like this can be created in just a week. But how long will it last 1 week
  8. ‎6 first choice players missing including 4 from the spine of the team. No Cisak, Diamond M'Voto, Black, Wesolowski or Taylor is killing us. It shows that the gamble of going for quality over quantity has bitten us this year. But would quantity over quality really have seen us any better off? That was the managers call within his budget. Who would have expected the injuries and the harsh suspension of M'Voto to hit us at this time all at once. Morais has either lost form or just can't cross and Simpson is having to play out of position and looks like he may still be carrying the injury. Reid looks like he is out of the picture completely and Marsh Brown if you believe what you hear won't be a long term solution. We've also still got young Mellor out possibly for the season. Anyway role on Saturday where an 89th minute own goal will save the season although I still think as I said 3 weeks ago 48 points will see us safe. In case you couldn't tell I'm firmly in the Dickov in camp, but more lessons need to be learnt from this season and we need to create more for the forwards as we are not creating the tap ins that we should and need to to prgress. 3 years of falling to pieces after Christmas will not be progress.
  9. Just like to say well done to Shez, Tommy Wright and Mark Crossley on winningbthe JPT at Wembley. Very Jealous we were not there today, but they have played to win it from day one.
  10. When I said at last, I'm talking about his career overall. It was under dangerus Dave that he was 1st played at full back having spent nearly all his time in midfield and after struggling in his early games in the new position, he has grown into the role and developed a level of consistencey over the last 2 seasons that you and the rest of us are now rightly appreciating. Like you I would have no problem if he ends up at a Championship side next season, even if we lose him to a free transfer. He came on a free. I also agree that he is a better footballer than Mark, but he is also a different "character" and that was the point I was making. Mark would happily go wherever the work and the money took him. Kieran has other priorities.
  11. To be fair, Kieran has at last found a level of consistency. Not sure that he is a Championship player, but I'm sure he will give it a go, as long as he gets a consitent run in the team he will stand a chance. KL strikes me as very much a confidence player and I'm not convinced he will find the step up that easy, espeically if he moves into a new enviroment with a new club and doesn't get a consistent run in the team. There's a reason the lad wanted to stay local.
  12. Whilst there were some decent individual performances today, it was quite fitting that the one class move in the whole match produced our goal. It is what creates excitement. A flowing passing move with one and two touch football, sprayed out wide with a crisp low cross into the middle for Taylor to finish. Reminded me so much of the type of goal we used to see with Roger Palmer in the team. Can't wait to see it tonight on the FLS. More of this please boys. It just shows you are capable And before people say harping back to the old days again, I'm talking pre glory era years.
  13. From the Chaddy End, it looked like a clear penalty. There again the clear pull on Reid's shirt earlier in the half was more clear cut, the ref even put his whistle to his mouth and then inexplicably changed his mind. Also the save from Cisak in the 1st half, admittedly again from behind the goal, looked as if he had clawed it back from behind the line. If he has, then it makes up for the one from Simpson at their place which lost us a point. The point being that they do say these things even themselves out and over the 2 games with Bournemouth they certainly have.
  14. How long have we waited for a repeat of the swan dive from our flying Finn? And when he finally does it yesterday right in front of us, he gets nowhere as high as when he scored on his debut. Disappointed.com Dickov out!
  15. Thats the problem with a lot of our fans though. They never watch the youth team. I saw several games last season in the youth cup. If you had been at Bury in the early round, Tarky, shall we say, started slow and in the 1st 10 minutes he looked cumbersome to say the least. But once his early jitters settled down he dominated the game. That sums up young players. With experience they grow into the role. His debut against Brentford last season showed the potential he had and now he is starting to develop that potential. The trick is PD knowing when to give him the "rest" that he will obviously need after a rum of games so that the little errors that inevitably creep in to a young players game don't take down his confidence and affect his development. When the gaffer does leave him out, if donn at the right time, it shouldn't be seen as a critisism. Nor shuld we be jumping up and down saying that PD has dropped him when he was playing well. It will be done for his and the clubs benefit.
  16. Your right but the team will be more balanced tomorrow than it was at MK last week where, especially after the injury to Paul Black, we had too many square pegs in round holes. I think that judging by PD's comments this week we will see some changes tomorrow to prove a point with a couple of kids getting their chance again. He will have been made up with how Tarky has stepped upto the plate recently.
  17. Can't see many making the short trip tomorrow. I would expect 350-400 Tranmere's record in the last 18 games is won 1 (yes thats one) drawn 6 lost 11 scored 17 conceeded 30 Thats a truly awful bad run, their last win coming on the 30th December. On the road it's even worse drawing 1 and losing 8 of their last 9 games. Their last victory on the road was back in late October at Hartlepool when the monkey hangers were on a run of something like 9 home defeats on the trot We really really need and should pick up 3 points tomorrow. Hopefully this will be the game where Kuqi hits the back of the net again.
