People said this when we were relegated to this division in 1997.

Why hasn't someone, at some point over the last couple of decades, seen survival in this division as an "opportunity", turned us into a winning League One side getting 5,000 fans AND having the large away following??

I'm as optimistic as most, but anyone who thinks relegation is an opportunity is really clutching at straws.  We've had 22 "opportunities" in this league yet haven't taken a single one.  New owner or otherwise, there is absolutely no indication that relegation could be a good thing.

    Absolutely spot on.

  2. It's an interesting appointment, I've heard a lot of him on Talksport during his ban, and he is undoubtedly an intelligent bloke.

He certainly knows the game and has done his coaching badges.

I'm not sure about his temperament for management though, as someone has said previously he has a very very short fuse.

It could be entertaining though, and I can certainly see him spending plenty of time watching from the stands next season.

He'll make Shez look positively laid back when remonstrating with referees.

  3. I've just had a look at that site, and bloody hell.

I know they rated the winner a 10, but also rated 8 other horses as a 10 as well.

They then rated 11 horses as 9 out of 10 (which brings in the third Bless the Wings).

So out of 44 horses (including the reserves) they rated 19 as a 9 or a 10.

If you backed all those 19, even though you got the 1st, 3rd & 5th, you'd be showing a loss.

  4. I don't think a point last night is a disaster, but puts more pressure on us to get a win on Saturday.

I thought overall we were poor, we started slowly and Walsall could have been 2-0 up in the first 15 mins, we gradually grew into the game, but inevitably went 1-0 behind again.

It really does make it difficult constantly giving the opposition a goal start before you decide to roll your sleeves and get playing properly.

Good goal from Nazon, who does have some ability at this level buts needs to be more consistent.

I like the look of McEleney he has some good touches and definitely has something about him, I think their's a player in there.

Byrne for me does far too much, he sometimes needs to take the simpler option, he seems to take on all the responsibility for the entire team.

Walsall were poor and definitely came for a point, I think we should have had enough to win that game, but their keeper did make a couple of excellent saves second half, if only we didn't feel the need to gift the opposition a goal start nearly every week.

Hometownclub = Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest.

Certainly trying, although I can see this going right down to the wire.

I was looking to just consolidate this season, given my Championship budget compared to the big hitters.

    How the bookies odds have drifted since the draw;

    GravityGrave 7/2 fav.

    oafcmetty 3/1

    astottie 6/1

    PJKent 10/1

    lookersstandandy 10/1

    aidan_latics 12/1

    Bristolatic 12/1

    simplythemostimportantkick 20/1

Sorry to be pedantic but Gravity Grave can't be 7/2 fav if oafcmetty is only 3/1

You know I'm sooooooo regretting not putting that bet on when I saw him a youth level and thought future England cap there...

    damn and blast

I also seem to recall saying, "I think he'll play for England" within 5 minutes of seeing him for the first time.
