  1. Do you think he will want to join our Gang then Stevie?
  2. I thought this Message Board was supposed to be PC? I'm Outraged (geddit?) about this campaign against Gay Owls and have formed a protest Group - GOAL AREA Gay Owls Are Lovely. Avian Rear Entry's Ace T-Shirts bearing our Name (TM) and a compromising picture of Chaddy The "Proud to be Gay" Owl will be ordered in time for Brighton. I know it's a bit of a long-shot but does anyone know if there are any Gay Bars in Brighton? Probably not but if there are, then I may be on a winner with my merchandise.
  3. That's definitely what I remember too Stipey. Does anyone remember - We are far, far, Superiaaar! Bit of a random one from the eighties but tended to follow a good old "Zigga Zagga"
  4. Isn't she the one who fancies Leeslover? And you reckon that is a good advert for Laser Surgery?
  5. Well done Stevie. Nice performance from Monet's Garden. Well Chief was a massive disappointment and emptied very quickly. 2.5 miles is too far perhaps? I think Htc was advocating a lay of the odds-on Well Chief so congrats there too.
  6. After a good start for the Forum, a real shocker in the second. I really thought that Wichita had that one in the bag and Chief Dan George came from another parish. Carnage on Betfair. WL laid at 1.01 and CDG backed at 200! Thought it would have been bigger myself as it looked tailed off in fourth coming up the straight.
  7. Not a great moment that's for sure for anyone who had backed it. Must have been 15 lengths clear at the last where it subsequently fell in instalments. I had a look on Betfair and it was layed at 1.01 for several grand. That's basically someone backing it to lose at 99/1! Fingers well and truly burned although some would have been extremely happy!
  8. Day 2 and if we got a few winners yesterday, then it looks much more tricky today. 2.00 Mildmay Chase Aces Four ran a great race at Cheltenham when finishing fourth to Denman in the Royal and Sun Alliance Chase. He's the one for me here. 2.35 Sefton Hurdle I'll leave Wichita Lineman to Jimi in this one and I'll stick with Silverburn at a bigger price. 3.10 Melling Chase The race of the day. Will Well Chief stand up? Can Taranis repeat his fantastic Cheltenham success? Class is permanent for me and Well Chief has to be the call. 3.45 Topham Chase Back to the big Grand National fences and this looks impossible. 30 runners most of whom have a chance. I tipped Irish Raptor at Cheltenham and he front-ran well before falling. I'll give him another chance. 4.20 Top Novices Hurdle Osana faded badly in The County Hurdle and for me, Ouninpohja has run out of chances. Tyson should find this course more to its liking and I'll take him to knock the rest of these out. 4.55 Betfair Chase Very difficult. Lankawi has form though and is my selection 5.30 Mares only NH Flat Hate bumpers but I have followed the progress of Alan Swinbank's Turbo Linn. She is very progressive and while this is much more competitive, she carries my recommendation. Good luck and once again, tomorrow is purely a watching day for me.
  9. Ooh. Unlucky team. Out in the fifth with our main selection coming second. Winner was joint second-rated by Timeform. Top-rated was Andreas who we couldn't have and was well-beaten when falling. Incidentally, as they are doing pretty well here, it is worth mentioning that Timeform have Laouen well clear in the last race (5.20).
  10. Agreed Jimi. Well done Htc. Will the collective OWTB Brains Trust get through the Card? btw Jimi. The Timeform top-rated has won the last 3 races. The first was won by the second-rated. Not sure if you pay for the service but that is pretty good!
  11. 13.37/1 treble. Nice to think I would have backed it. But I know I wouldn't as it would have meant breaking too many of my betting rules. Number one being "only bet with money you can afford to lose". I can't justify it at the moment so it is a watching brief only. Onto the Foxhunter's. Shouldn't that be renamed now it is illegal? Is that a clear indication that Gangsters R Us is a certainty? Next year, expect to see The Quorn Drag-Hunt Vegetarian Chase!
  12. No mate. If Katchit waltzes in now (like I am sure it will) then I'll be reaching for the medicine cabinet! Tbh, I just enjoy watching decent quality racing. When horses are short prices (less than 2/1) then I never like backing them as you generally will end up down.
  13. ......and Stevie_J! Good performance that and I think it really is a case of it loving the track. Excellent ride though and the tactics were spot-on. Felt sorry for ID as they went no pace and that didn't make it a true stamina test. I think BJK has proved it is a bridle horse and a non-stayer but that said, the winner was different class today. Glad BJK got round today though.
  14. Jimi - Useful link indeed but not sure it should be posted as it is something that has to be paid for. Just to be safe, I have taken it down in case of later problems. You can get the free truncated cards via Betfair but the full versions are still subscription. Cheers
  15. Well I've won my first "bet" of the day! I wrote down yesterday that Jimi would select Inglis Drever and that Htc would stick with BJK and I'm pleased to be proved right! To be honest, that was probably a 1/10 shot as I think we were all going to stay faithful to our Champion Hurdle selections. May the best man win again today! All I need now is for Stevie_J to pick some long outsider to complete my treble! Good luck guys and anyone else considering a bet today. I'm just going to be watching and enjoying what should be a great day's racing.
  16. Well, the mini Cheltenham has arrived. Smaller fields and not as competitive but still some very classy horses running. Take the opening race for example - what a start to the meeting! 2.00 Long Distance Hurdle The main contenders from the Champion Hurdle are back. Will Black Jack stand up this time? Can old Inglis Drever still pull some more out of the bag? Will Mighty Man find Aintree more to his liking that Cheltenham and reverse the form with ID? I think yes, and I stand by my Mighty Man! 2.35 Betfair Bowl Again, a mini-Cheltenham re-run this time of The Gold Cup but without Kauto Star. That surely opens the door for Exotic Dancer. 3.10 Anniversary Hurdle Katchit was a good winner at Cheltenham and while he is no real price, he's my selection here. 3.45 Foxhunters Chase Our first look at the big Grand National fences. Therefore, while over a much shorter distance, that says "lottery" to me and so definitely no bet - especially with amateurs on board. I've always liked Gangsters R Us though and hope it runs well. Let's just hope all the horses survive. 4.20 Red Rum Chase The biggest surprise for me at Cheltenham was seeing Andreas "get brave" and actually win a race. I reckon that is about as good as it gets for this dodge-pot. Marshall Hall has got some good form though and I take it to win at a bigger price. 4.55 Mersey Hurdle Not got a clue. Liberate ran well at Cheltenham but this looks a good competitive race with some useful types like Wins Now, Tidal Bay and Bedlam Boy. I like Russian Composers though so Khachaturian is my e/w "guess". This should improve over time and is likely to be 50/1 plus. 5.30 John Smith Handicap Hurdle A very trappy handicap to conclude. I liked the way Burnoakboy won the Coral Cup at Cheltenham and he justifies favouritism for me. A good start to Aintree and the horses I really fancy are short prices so I probably will just enjoy watching rather than having a bet. May have a couple of quid on Mighty Man (nap) though.
  17. I'll vouch for that Mark. It was a struggle for 3 of us to carry it into the ground from my car and after we'd had a look at it, Ominous Poultry and myself had to carry it to the top of The Chaddy where I was demanding oxygen. Can't see it getting to too many away matches because of the transport issues and then getting it into the ground. Let's see what happens though as it was fantastic to have it back - if only briefly.
  18. There have been quite a few people involved in this and a lot of the credit should go to OminousPoultry for organising this and providing the funding for having it repaired and cut down. We have discussed reimbursing out of pocket costs however it is to his great credit that he doesn't want anything in return. I am sure though that he will have the broadest and proudest smile of all come 3pm tomorrow! The plan for the future is to sell off the remaining pieces so that fans can have their own smaller flags made from a piece of Latics' history. Any money raised will be given to a local Oldham Charity. I am sure that once this weekend is through, the full story will be told about how all this came about. Just like the guys who run and moderate this fantastic messageboard, it is all about Latics fans getting together and expending time, money and effort for the team that they love.
  19. There is a good chance that the Crest part of the flag will be making its reappearance tomorrow. The two main pieces (The Crest and the "Keep The Faith" parts) are in the back of my car and I will be meeting OminousPoultry at BP tomorrow so that we can have a look at it. It does need washing (which we will get done) however it is now repaired and should be ok for its first airing tomorrow! Fingers crossed that all goes well and we can see it riding across The Chaddy once again!!!
  20. Glad we've got that cleared up. Now what was your excuse in The Doric Arch the weekend previous? You know, the one where we ended up getting ratted in The Coach and Horses at Leyton? And where in The Bible does it say you can sell dodgy items of clothing to Jesuits on a Sunday afternoon?
  21. You can call "her" whatever you like. I was buying you Kronenbourg though in The New Inn!
  22. Well I never. One of them has been outed as a genuine Oldham fan. Well I'm assuming "Mr Latics" doesn't mean he's a pie 'ed. Mr Latics So the count so far:- Latics - 1 Citeh - 1 6 more to track down.
  23. Definitely funny looking Coke. It was Kronenbourg. And I think Easter started a couple of weeks ago as far as he was concerned. He was claiming special dispensation had been received from The Pope to allow him to end his Lent-related abstinence just in time for Leyton Orient away.
  24. Well seeing as you didn't flog it to him until the day after the Israel - England game I'd guess not! How many pints did we sup this weekend? Too many I think! :drinking45: :drinking45:
