Maybe because when players are suggested to AL by Barry there is one budget. And when it’s players AL found there is another budget?

It’s not good for morale, but it’s hardly sinister.....

....it is if one budget is reserved for players whose agents you ‘prefer’....and another for players whose agents you do not. Then you might like to speculate why some agents are preferenced over others....!?!

    I think that’s illegal.

I’m sure it is.... which is why I said there’s no way they’re doing it.... anyway Marco gave up his interest in his football agency to remove the conflict of interest, so it’s all immaterial isn’t it.

    Agents?

Could be..... which is a co-incidence isn’t it, cos Marco was one.... and his brother still is. I’m sure they’ll be unconnected though. There’s no way Marco & brother would put their and their client’s personal interests above that of OAFC 2004 Ltd.

The amounts being thrown around do make them mutually exclusive.

    Our budget isn't tiny imo.

It may well all be debt based (which will be bad), but the budget isn’t tiny.

We agree for once here.... but then it does beg the question why we’ve offered the likes of Maynard, Mayor, Clough ‘peanuts’ and tried to renegotiate Clarke and Baxter’s contracts, but don’t seem to have the same problem with the likes of Maouche & Vera?

Correct for now but the FLG have an agreement in place to purchase the stadium, including the North Stand.

....which could fall though and Blitz decides to sell it to (for examples sake: Amazon) and/or redevelop some/the lot into houses.

....but even then, I’ve told you what the FLG’s motive is above. It’s a clear as the sea off a Caribbean island. Marco’s is a opaque as the Atlantic off Agadir.

I’m still waiting for the usual suspects to reach a consensus on this. They are split in to two schools of thought (complaints) at the mo...

    1. Budget is tiny

    2. We are paying multiple thousand pound contracts to a selection of crap players.

    Cant both be true.

I'm not in either camp but they're not mutually exclusive. The 'real' budget could still be tiny and inflated wages being paid which reduces that.

....spot on.... and debts being run up - like Bury -  but we have no idea, cos the fella who owns us doesn’t submit his accounts.....!

I think you are splitting hairs.  These guys CONTROL boundary park including the North Stand.  The tenor of my post is correct.

No. No hairs being split. It’s in black & white above, they DO NOT own Boundary Park, or the North Stand. Blitz does.... and values it at many millions.

They - the FLG - do own a Limited Company that operates from the North Stand. Blitz gave it to them for free. You don’t need to be Hercule Poirot to work out why. Because it was worth fuck all and gave him a headache owning it. I couldn’t give two shiny sh1tes about the OEC currently.

Until anyone other than Blitz owns the tangible assets, the club is in limbo. I hold TTA in contempt. Their motive when the bought the club - after failing to buy Hull because the council - unlike ours who gifted it to them at a price under its value - wouldn’t let them have Boothferry Park - was to play at football ownership, with the insurance policy that they could recoup any money they burned, by selling/redeveloping the land. When Blitz & Gazal walked from OAFC 2004 in 2010 - because they wanted too much for whole shebang - they fucked us, massively. Corney then abused us until his luck ran out.

The fella that bought the football club says he did not know the land and North Stand did not come with it. How stupid does that make him sound? I don’t - by the way - believe it for one second. It’s just an excuse to say, woe is me. He knew what he was getting alright..... and so it takes me right back to the start. What is your motivation Mr. Lemsagam?

Why would - on face value - a seemingly successful Moroccan football agent, living in Dubai, give up his income/business, to own a small unsuccessful football club in a cold, dark and wet part of Northern Europe (he said he was moving his family here in a very early interview, to give the impression of being in it for the long term - he hasn’t done this!) that does not own its land or stands, without having any connection/affinity with the club/area at all? It’s doesn’t add up, does it?

Yes. A fool that is absolutely certain we will get relegated. Can’t lose can he.

Here’s the post... where I said we’re certain for relegation... from which you offer your evens bet.

What the feck has a bookies got to do with a personal wager. 🤪 You bottled it. You indicated we will be relegated.... Take the bet then. You are effectively saying we are odds on to go down by stating you think we will. My bet is with you, not a bookies you clown.

I will put £100 up now for your chosen charity if you do the same.

I forgot they get a complete free pass on this forum for some reason.

Some here would be up in arms if the owner was as quiet and secretive as this group seem to be.  Two vague blog posts from unknown individuals in the last 3 months.

Lookers hasn't even asked for a “plan” or some “kom-Uni-Kay-shun yet”.

It’s quite clear to see what their motive is though isn’t it. To be ready to save the club, or begin a Phoenix if/when administration or liquidation occurs.

No-one knows with the other fella.

If/when, the FLG own the land and the stand, presently all they do is run the OEC, I might be more inclined to ask for a Plan.

Blitz hasn’t got away without stern criticism from me on here....

....but we’ve covered this topic before, you choose either ignore it, or you’re forgetful.

David "chicken" Currie is a good shout. Very gifted but couldn't see a team-mate...….would dribble the ball everywhere that was ineffective so much so, I'm certain he forgot which end he was attacking.

I saw him score a perfect hat tick against us at Oakwell in 1988. He’s looked like a world beater that day.

  12. Good morning Ladies & Gents,

The 2019/20 Football League season kicks off 4 weeks tomorrow, where we make the unenviable trip to the salubrious New Lawn.

    For those of you who've;

    • Participated before but, for whatever reason, elected not to continue,
    • Have watched from afar and are curious about what OWTB Prediction League is,
    • Are new/infrequent visitors to OWTB and haven't paid it much attention before,

    ....please revisit this thread in the run up to August 3rd, where I will explain;

    • How it works/What's new,
    • Who benefits,
    • Why you should consider joining in,

    In our last and first visit to Forest Green, the correct Prediction that day would've been;

Forest Green Rovers 1 Latics 1 [HT 1-0]

    First Latics Scorer: Dan Gardner

    Attendance: 2,759 (844 away)

Lots of players earn in excess of their ability...... 4k is probably par for the course for L1.

When Dickov was manager - for the purpose of sharing this story, the circumstances of which are irrelevant - he invited me into the manager’s office and we shared a beer. We were there about 20 mins. In the course of the conversation, it wasn’t done indiscreetly, he told who our top paid player was and how much he was earning, it was £2,200pw.

£4K for Mohamed Maouche is way, way too much and it makes me suspicious.

As an aside. A lovely bloke and real gent was Dickov.

The sinister motives that you keep referencing Andy.

....I don’t know what his motives are, I assume you don’t too....? Would you like to know...?

....if we’re paying Maouche £4K a week, would you agree that was odd (possibly sinister?), given how good (I use this word loosely) he is? / How our owner doesn't seem to be increasing our budget from his personal wealth? How Sheridan, Wellens & Bunn viewed him?

Do you think £11k a week for Queensy Menig was good value?

  15. 2 minutes ago, HarryBosch said:

Is he not as entitled to do that as the owner of any other business would be?

Of course. He can do as he wishes. He can also run up an enormous expenses bill if he so chooses too.... but if he is and his motive in owning us was to provide himself and his brother an income, then that’s hardly a good thing - for us/our club - is it?

  16. Here’s another question for you @kowenicki, what is Marco’s source of personal income? How does he put food on the table for his family?

Under normal circumstances, a football owner would have another source of income to fund their personal life. They would likely have been successful enough at their chosen profession to be able to own a football club in the 1st place.

Our owner was made to give up / end his interest in his chosen profession because of the rules/regs stipulating it was/is a conflict of interest. (1st alarm bell rings) So, how does he now earn his income? He most certainly doesn’t seem wealthy enough never to have to work again. (2nd bell). Does he pay himself and the Sporting Director a salary out of our modest budget? We don’t know, cos the accounts haven’t been submitted. (3rd bell)

Has the conflict of interest been resolved by him stepping down as owner/director of sport2jlt.com, or are there ways/means to navigate around that? (4th)

Anyone who comes on here as often as we do, indicating Latics plays a pretty significant part in our lives and isn’t suspicious of his motives, is either not paying attention, doesn’t care, or is deluded. I think you care... and I think you pay attention.....!
