  1. All that is wrong about modern football summed up in this disgracefully tragic story.
  2. Fair enough... He could still be at Solihull Moors or Droylsden of course... But I guess he can say his 6 games were enough and not want to prove he can repeat it... I just think he should.
  3. ...because without us, he wouldn't have had the opportunity....!
  4. Sure, or £78k, between £1k and £2.5k, but what use is that for 2 years if you're on the bench. Show some loyalty, score 20 goals and get £4k the year after and play every week? It's a gamble either way I guess, and whatever he chooses good luck to him, but a la Baxter, I'd like to see some loyalty.
  5. I disagree with the supposition that his stock wouldn't rise if he knocked in 20 goals. I think it would, hence my view he would be better served remaining with us for another year. I guess it depends what he's in football for. He's an educated boy who's earning potential could well be greater post his football career. If true he could achieve £2.5k per week to warm a bench, and lets say we could only afford him £1k to prove his 6 games were not a flash in the pan, he could get his £2.5k+ the following year and not be warming a bench. As I say, these 6 games apart, he's still a lot to prove. I'd like him to stay to build on that and show some loyalty for the opportunity he was given. If he goes because he doesn't want to risk £2.5k not being on the table again, maybe that shows a sign that he isn't confident he can repeat his form of those 6 games?
  6. We should give him a rise and a release clause. Without us, he wouldn't have been in the position he is now. He's 23 and can prove himself not to be a flash in the pan by playing and scoring regularly next season. If he wants to warm the bench in the championship, good luck to him, but a little bit of loyalty might go a long way in the future. Short term greed has the potential to back fire. Other than the 3 FA Cup games, Bury, Yeovil & Crawley, he'd been relatively ineffective. He's got a long way to go yet, I think he'd be better served spending more time with us.
  7. I've been maintaining on the Chron's website that Matt Smith owes us some loyalty. Without us, he wouldn't be in league football and prior to the FA Cup run his league form was less than impressive. I thank him for the money we earned in the cup games and his vital 3 goals that earned him this player of the month, but I think he owes us another year!
  8. Worrall's brother was a season ticket holder at the swamp. Wouldn't be allowed today!
  9. You can bet your bottom dollar none of these tribute programmes this evening feature this injustice! [Angry face]
  10. Don't get me started on Graeme Sharp's golden opportunity to put us 2-0 up in the 1994 game at Wembley either. They hadn't won a double till that point. Mark f&@£ing Hughes! I was delighted when he got sacked from QPR!
  11. I believe Harry Dowd was decent.... But for me it ha to be Goram. Again, £300k to Hibs robbed us.
  12. I don't want to give it to him, cos it hurt to see him a red shirt for only £650k. Ferguson truly robbed us.... But Irwin was our best ever full back.
  13. Such a difficult one this. I go for Pointon over Barlow only because he's the only Latics player ever to have scored at Wembley!
  14. Roger Palmer did play right side of midfield in 86/87... However, he's our all time leading goal scorer... So you simply cannot fail to pick him. Stitch alongside (obviously). Sharp was good in his 1st season, two goals at Maine Rd were superb... However, his autobiography tells me all I need to know about him. Pr1ck!
  15. Redfearn played out wide right in the FA Cup S/F of 1990.... and assisted Marshall's goal.... This is where I think Royle should've played him when he brought Milligan back. Seeing as I've already picked him in CM, I'm going with Rick & Adams!
  16. Shez was great, don't get me wrong... But we were (still are) a 3rd division club by then. Milligan, Henry & Redfearn competed and beat top division sides. I've gone with Milli & Redders. Having scored nearly 20 goals from midfield the year we won the 2nd division, I place Redfearn's sale to Barnsley to be one of Royle's few big mistake's!
  17. Ian Marshall started out a centre half... and a bloody good one at that. In fact, part of the reason he left for Ipswich was because Royle wanted him to go back there. Still, Barrett and Jobson win hands down and anyone who suggest otherwise must not have seen them!
  18. Hurt his knee again @ Swindon according to mike & Roy.....!
  19. Two sources tell you he has gone on loan: http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=34692 http://www.dcfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/...0~23647,00.html
  20. Has anyone noticed Chris Porter has gone on loan to Gateshead (in the conference) from Derby? 32 goals in 60 games for Latics, followed by 27 in 61 for Motherwell, but only 7 in 18 for Derby! Now, I like Tounkara and would have him in my team... and Taylor has looked better through the middle than on the wing over recent weeks... and while Feeney hasn't set the world alight, I still have faith in PD's judgement... and Dean Kelly is definitely a trier which is all I ask for a lot of the time.... however, I feel compelled to ask the obvious... do we not think about trying to get Porter back on loan to provide the goals (he's proved he can score at this level) to guarantee us that play off spot? Discuss!!!!!
  21. Thanks fellas. By the time I've paid for the mrs and family I could've bought Paul Warhurst from City! I'm assuming that kids aren't invited?
  22. Does anyone know when this is? I believe its in April. Anyone have a confirmed date, venue, tickets on sale, cost...????
  23. I'm in Chiswick and a Latics fan..... have you settled into the area Latique....?
