still reckon o`grady is overrated......o`grady is thriving at dale coz of the excellent support play all around him......95% of passes to him are accurately placed to his feet......there is always some-one overlappig or to square it to......he never has to play deep to get a sniff of the ball........and he very rarely has a HOOOOOOOF to deal with...............he`s had a strikers life of luxury while at dale.
Just the way it should be done.
If 'Dale can do it, then why the bloody hell can't Latics?
he`s in for a rude awakening when he comes back to b.park to play under the penny system !!!!That's why he doesn't WANT to come back...and who can blame him?
-
We all saw exactly what happened when we jerked the knee and got rid of Shez last season. Since then we've been in freefall so sacking Penney will IMO virtually seal our fate.
He gets until end of January at the very earliest.
If that's the case, he might as well go now.
We need a settled side and settled management team...I would be happy to see Abbot and Blackman playing up front as a regular pairing.
The chances of O'Grady and Fleming returning in January are looking increasingly likely.
-
next 3 games are important as we play 3 poor sides, lose all of these and its goodnight vienna. 20th now.
At the moment, we are one of the "poor sides".

Heff subbed just after half time today for Parker. Er...why?
This team and this manager are useless.
E4e
OANIL
I think Blackman and Heffernan up front from the off would have been a more likely line-up.
-
Honestly?
Tranny came from behind three times midweek to draw 3-3 at Hudds. Could we do that?
E4e
YRITE
Now 1-0 up against Brentford.
I'ts amazing what a bit of faith and a settled line-up can do. Oh, and a new manager (well, caretaker boss)

Another 45 mins of football without a shot at GOAL
Heffernan replaced by Parker!
Yet another striker consigned to the "graveyard".
-
It might not be that bad if we do get relegated....BEFORE YOU GO MENTAL THINK ABOUT THIS........
We'd perform much better and be more consistent, win more games...we all know that attendances go up when we're winning/scoring more goals.
A lot of teams who get promoted continue to do well because they have added confidence.
I hope to god we don't get relegated but it wouldn't be a terrible thing
What makes you think we'd be more consistent and win more games?
Consistency has been lacking for quite a few seasons and being at the top of league 2 certainly won't boost the attendances.
I'll give you the 'confidence factor' argument, but that would only happen if we bounced straight back.
A settled line up should see us out of trouble and that isn't going to happen this side of the New Year.
-
Anyone see that coming?
Woof.
The whole World and it's dog.
-
Here we go....0-1
-
Apparantly 4-1-4-1!!
Any more for any more.......
9-1
and that could double up as the score.
-
sounds like Heff is up front on his own with 3 wide lads behind him
Makes sense.
Sky sports has it down as 4-4-2.
-
Why Colbeck up front with Heffernan?
Why not Smalley, Blackman or even Brooke?
Puzzling to say the least.

A relegation fight is imminent.

If something as little as that can hold 6000 people, then really makes you wonder how big ours is going to be
Twice as big!

Location apart, the bottom line is that we SHOULD build a stadium with a capacity that suits the fanbase. We are not going to get crowds of 12,000 in this division.
As long as the facility is there to expand, should we attain and sustain promotion to the championship.
Even with a slight increase in attendance in a new stadium and increased revenue streams, we are not going to make enough money to acquire the standard of player to drag us out of this league. That may happen if the TTA make enough money out of the sale of the land at BP, but somehow, I don't think they'll be spending any of it on the club.
They will have a better chance of selling the club to someone with ambition if we are in a spanking stadium with good facilities and revenue potential.
-
With investment, ambition and support from the town and council alike, how can they go wrong?
-
270 mins of football 3 losses and no goals...We wouldn't score in a brothel!!!
I don't think bringing in a striker would make that much difference to this lot, If it wasn't for our defence we would be in the relegation mix........anybody worried cos I am!!!!!!
Disagree. I think a lethal or clinical finisher would make all the difference.

First of all, just to state, I love the club, have done the last 20 years and this is not intended as a putdown!
Is it me or is there just a massive negative bubble around the place, its affected me as i'm struggling to maintain any interest these days, squad is the most boring i can remember, the ground that i used to worship is now a joke, even the website does my tits in these days, always seems to be about the youth team or the B team. Now i think penney is an alright bloke but the place just seems empty at the moment, even the tta who saved the club seems to be always going on the offensive and having a go at the fans, who in turn have a go at the team when playing bad (which seems every wek!!), its just a vicious circle!!
I just dont feel the club belongs to us anymore!
Please could someone give me some positives to focus on or i'm in danger of falling out with football totally!!!!
**rant over**
Well, considering we've ended up with a team struggling to score goals, playing in a three-sided shed of a stadium, already relying on loan signings, a lengthy injury list, not enough pies to go round on a match day and a fickle public that won't support any form of improvement for sporting facilities, let alone support the club.
I think you've got every reason to be worried.
Btw, a club will only "belong" to a fan if that fan has got his heart in the club. Something that's hard to do at the moment.
-
The Boundary Park 'hoodoo' is well and truly set-in.
It's amazing...new management, new players...same old 'hoodoo'.
Maybe it is time to leave the place.
-
Lets hope we are not rushing him , original estimate was after christmas so this is very early
He's young and maybe the estimates were 'worst scenario', but it doesn't look as though he will be involved too much.
-
I just read the topic title there and thought for one minute you were asking me to perform an illicit act......to show how good leeds really are........hahahaha.....sorry just couldn't help myself.....
-
latics fan on gmr now lad called ian says "we should get rid of abbott "
You couldn't make it up, could you? Well done to the 'Tics today, we usually don't fare well at their place, although I think we have the edge overall.
Another clean sheet as well.

back to the drawing board for penney
Bob, we haven't even got a "drawing board" left. You only have to look at the subs bench to see how thin we are on the ground.
-
We are looking decidedly lightweight at the back, again.
Today's Attendance

Marketing should take a look at the product on the pitch, the facilities and service off the pitch and ask a fair price for admission.
£10-£12 seems about right.
Even with better performances, I don't think attendance will increase because the club is asking way too much for admission. It's just not worth it when you also factor in the cost of a programme , food and drink and travel to and from the ground.
Throw in a few kids, and the money could definitely be better spent elsewhere.
