  1. Chron <_<

The 32-year-old striker has returned to his parent club Millwall after his loan was not renewed, despite Athletic being keen to get him back on board for a further month.

The sticking point is believed to be at the Millwall end, with the Lions currently experiencing a shortage up front due to injuries to Gary Alexander and Neil Harris.

It means that Athletic officials will turn their attentions elsewhere in a bid to bring an alternative attacking player, who could go straight into the team for a game at Boundary Park that has been described as “massive” by Dave Penney.

Highly unlikely...unless someone was waiting in the wings to step into Price's boots.

  2. Maybe that's what you get for sacking a club-legend of a manager working near-miracles on a relatively paltry budget, on the back of pressure from a section of fans largely stirred up on this perhaps over-influential messageboard?

I note Shez walked off with League 2 MOTM in February, 6 wins from 7. I suspect our one saving grace is that he didn't take "his mate" Greegs with him.

    <_<

    and your point is?

    Spot on, by the way.

  3. The First hour was absolutely shocking, we were stuck with nine men in our own half no tempo and aimless hoofing. We paid Exeter far too much respect and because of this they got it down and played some good stuff, thankfully they're :censored:e in the final third and we got away with the countless crosses and the times they got in behind on the flanks. We had FOUR changes of formation today and Penney cut a forlorn figure as he was booed off at HT then booed back on at the start of the second half.

The pen could have gone either way, it was given and tbh I have no complaints. Greegs headed it up in the air perhaps Brill should have come for it and Rubes decided to solve the problem with a bit of WWE on their guy - 0-1, then we woke up the tempo increased but it was still pretty bad. I think we may have seen the last of Price, he's no wide player and when you are subbed for Smalley then you don't need me to tell you that your number is well and truly up. We huffed and puffed but it wasn't much better. Greegs goal came out of the blue tbh but if you don't buy a ticket you don't win the raffle! If anyone was gonna dig us out of the :censored: it was our Captain Fantastic, pen aside he was superb. Straight after the pen there was a stonewaller for Exeter turned down, Greegs throwing their guy to the ground. The pen in the last min was a joke Rubes won the ball their lad went down to cries of TIMBER! 5.9! Even the anonymous Taylor would have been embarassed by that one! Anyhow I couldn't watch but Brill dug us out of a big hole and it was nice to see the fans singing his name at the final whistle.

Stand out performers? Gregan was immense but is a tad to blame for the first pen and could have conceded another, that apart I wish we had 11 Gregans! JJ played well, Lee was ok but his hoofing got right on my tits! Midfield? What midfield???? Get someone in alongside Dale! Furman awful again! Taylor - non-existent again! Nards did ok, Pav seems to be suffering a lack of confidence, straight after the missed pen Pav skied a free header - symptomatic of his current plight in front of goal and an earlier Whits' effort was goalbound only to hit Pav on the arse and drift wide!

I'm no High Executioner but the Jury has almost finished deliberating and amongst the 400 there today, there was barely any support for Penney - the verdict may well be returned next week. Anything less than 6 points could see Simon Corney put on his black cap!

Thanks Prozac. An excellent report and it doesn't fill me with any expectation for the so called 'must-win' games coming up.

  4. Just got home from game ( i live in cornwall before anyone says anything) and i have to say there is a lot of rubbish on here already ,we had more than 1 effort on target all game for sure as price missed a sitter after about 40 mins from 7 yards . Yes price appeared to play wide right in a 3 man attack but that was hopeless as the guys a centre forward not a winger although he tried. It was a game between 2 poor teams yes but we did not deserve to lose which 2 ludicrous penalty decisions nearly made us, where these refs come from i have no idea cos both where fouls by exeter players on hazell NOT the other way round.Brill was fine today and looked assured gregs was awesome but sorry if we gotta rely on fancy flicker abbot to stay up we really are doomed he was cack! stephens was lucky to stay on the pitch after an awful 1st half challenge and it wasnt until we went behind that we seemed to want to win and taylor had a couple of headers he maybe should have done better with.On the whole a draw is better than a lose and if we can win our home games we will be okay , well done to the 393 fans who turned up today and to be fair most players did at least appear to care ...

Thanks Smithers. At least we home-lovers can start to get a better idea of how the game actually went.

  5. You can't expect an opinion like yours, based on live radio commentary, to be more accurate than one based on a single website's 5 stat summary. Pah.

Quite true...but when stats are all you have to go off, then you draw your own conclusions.

I suppose we will have to wait for the travelers to return and give us their input.

  6. I'm not particularly pleased with how we're playing, but people are just looking for a scapegoat (as per usual) and blatently making things up. Where has this one shot at goal thing come from? I wasn't there but from the commentary I heard, Gregan's shot (the goal), Whits goal bound shot got blocked by Pav, Taylor headed one straight at the keeper and another just wide and Pav headed one over the bar when it was easier to score. So I was half asleep after getting in from the gym and I can remember 5 shots off the top of my head in the second half alone. I think we'll stay up, the players are good enough, it's not all about the tactics and manager, some of our players need to take a look at themselves and a look at Gregan who's been head and shoulders above the rest all season.

I think it was mean't as one shot on target.

The report mentions one attempt in the first half and three in the second half. It's a pity Whittaker's shot didn't hit Gregan instead of Abbott. It might have gone in.

  7. I'm assuming you didn't go today, so I'm just curious at to how you have assessed how we played, and determined that we didn't scrap for all 3 point apart from basing it on statistics on 4 or 5 criteria?

Obviously statistics can't tell you how we actually performed in terms of passion etc., but when a statistic tells us that the team had the ball for almost 75% of the time, then they are obviously not having to battle with the opposition to get it, or retain it.

The number of attempts at goal, quite frankly, is pathetic and the fact that Exeter saw so little of the ball, yet mustered more attempts on goal than Latics surely tells the tale of the way we played. As I said, I was quite optimistic when I saw that we had Price and Nardiello on and thought that maybe Penney was going to use Price in his previous incarnation as a wide-right player, with the option to support the attack.

I actually believed we would score two or three goals today.

    Penney's tactics negated that belief.

We tried playing 3 strikers to take it to them. It didn't work. Was a mistake in hindsight. Managers make them...we've 5 home games and a game vs basement side Stockport. I'll take that!

It took him long enough to work this out, seeing as Price wasn't substituted until nearly midway through the second half.

  8. 1 SHOT ON GOAL ALL GAME AND THAT IS FROM OUR CENTRE HALF - :censored: DISGRACE!!!

1-1 - PENNEY SHUTS UP SHOP FOR A DRAW AND TAKES NARDIELLO OFF, ONLY BRILL SAVED HIM.

been in support of him but i have had enough of NOT wanting to WIN games.

    PENNEY OUT GANNON IN!!!!

One shot in the entire match is a damning statistic and cannot be ignored, no matter what slant Penney puts on it in his post match interview.

Just what the hell were they doing with all that possession?

I was actually quite optimistic with the line-up, however, that soon disappeared when the stats started coming up.

  9. im not a penney out person but i think that he has to start telling the team to shoot on site whenever they get the chance and one of them will have to go in.

no more 'pretty' build up DP, we need goals

Not an 'Outer' either, but regardless of who the manager is, when the team regularly comes out with shot-shy performances, you have to question the tactics employed, the motivational skills and the validity of the appointment.

We lose today, and the TTA have some serious thinking to do and have to act swiftly on their decision.

  10. We're in massive trouble if we don't get something out of this match.

    No attempts says it all.

I think if we go through this whole match without an attempt on goal, then Penney must be shown the door, because he is clearly devoid of any motivational skills and must be guilty of employing negative tactics.
