Sorry Mrs Furman
Your Dean is dead dead good really. Keep plugging away son, the World Cup beckons......if you've got Sky Sports at home!
You don't need Sky to watch the World Cup...so, he's quids-in.

:censored: is named in the reserve squad for todays cup game,so maybe he getting a run out in readiness for the next game???
i cant quite understand what he has done to be here on loan yet not playing...
Is there a recall clause in his loan arrangement?
-
We just looked too hesitant in that match, no one seemed to want to close people down, when we should be clearing we were taking the extra touch and when we were facing an open net we just seemed to want to take a few more touches instead of giving it a crack,
Ive seen this a few times in our attack, we see the space open up but they would rather take another touch again to control, giving the defenders a better chance of getting back and blocking the shots, I think the attackers need to work on first time shots,
what also stands out to me is the lack of force behind the shots, pawel should have buried the header, he went for pllacement which didnt work anyway
All signs of a complete lack of confidence, in my opinion.

We haven't got a game until next Tuesday...maybe that's enough time for Stephens to fully recover.
I bloody well hope so!

Commentator...
"Oldham's main problem is a lack of goals"
Is it that obvious?

I know of 4 people who are only still going this season because they have a season ticket and have said that if penney is still in charge next season they will not be renewing them. If i know 4 how many have the same attitude. I worry that attendances will be down to 2500 next season coz it really is shiite to watch and certainly aint worth 20 quid
I know of seven people who have given up the ghost already this season, despite being regulars for quite a while.
A grandfather, son and grandson.
The son of a close friend.
Two close friends.
My niece's ex-husband.
Obviously, if you count myself, that's eight.
Small numbers add together to make large amounts.

Sadly i'm coming to the same conclusion, he got it so, so so wrong today. Tuesday was awful, last Saturday mistakes or not was woeful. Orient had their best strikers on the bench for some reason (MCgleish and Jarvis) and Exeter was terrible. He's the luckiest twit with an 'a' alive,. HE WILL NOT GET US THE FOUR WINS WE NEED!
Gregan and Dux until the end of the season, see how it goes and then reassess in the summer. Penney hasn't just lost the muppet choir it was 70% of the crowd today. I'm sure he's a nice guy but he couldn't take Donny further so why the hell did we expect him to take us on? He was a cheap appointment for a board that has lost interest on the pitch.
He talked a good game pre-season but since Charlton away it's been glaringly obvious he has no real ambitions to score goals and win football matches. Oldham Nil does not win hearts and mind and trust me there will be UNDER 3,000 v Brentford.
In that case, with the potential cost, they will probably not be interested in changing the manager.

More roller coaster fickle stupidity I see...
Given there are three other teams within 2 points of us on exactly the same goal difference as we are, it would have been nice to at least try and score again against ten of the worst players in the division.
And anyone who thinks we're safe really needs to take a look at the fixture list in April.
If we go down on goal difference you can look back at tonight to see what sunk us.
You are correct, we are not safe until mathematical certainty says we are.
I thought we would lose tonight and we may have done with Brill in the nets. Fair play to Penney, he made some changes and while it might not have been pretty, we ground out a much needed three points.
On the flip side of your comment, if we stay up by three points or less, this may have been the result that keeps us in this division.

Dowie would equate to
Bums on Seats
Disciplined Regime
Improved Fitness Levels
Passionate, Committed Displays
Goals
Respect from the Players
and
Giant Defenders and Goalkeeper.
What's not to like?
-
Flabbergasted!
He will probably play him on the wing.
Sod that! He's probably still injured and won't last more than two games.
Crap move...another raid on the old stomping ground is just re-enforcing Penney's apparent inability to bring in the required personnel.
My reluctance to say "get rid" is slowly being worn away.
-
Sharpe?
They were dark, depressing days under Sharp, but not as depressing as they are now.
Sharp narrowly avoided relegation, but couldn't prevent it the season after.
Déjà vu, anyone?
-
He needs to go all-out to get that striker in for Tuesday's match.
We really should have won this and would have been up to 16th, plus a bit of confidence in the tank, if we had.
Still, a draw is better than a loss.
Off topic, but how bad was that defeat for Chesterfield today?
Craig Davies probably felt rather smug when he scored.
-
A spooky symmetry to the game at Wycombe.
-
Price scores for Carlisle, lol.
Infuriating, as we never seem to benefit from the 'debut goal' effect.
I just don't understand the tactics. Take off a striker (?) ahem, Parker, and replace him with a midfielder (Furman) when 2-1 down, put Whits on the wing when Eaves comes on for Smalley so we don't get crosses in. Now Millar on for Jacobson - how much more disjointed can we get? Is it me?Puzzling and what thread of consistency we had, starts to unravel again.
-
I just can't see us getting a goal back. Very worrying.
Obviously I don't know how we're playing, but if we lose this one, then the calls for his head will start all over again...and Tuesday's excellent display will be all but forgotten. There really is no excuse for putting in a poor shift today.
-
Gillingham's away form is a disgrace as well. Yet to secure an away victory.
It's got 'Draw' written all over it then.
I actually think Stockport will beat Gillingham.
-
The very fleeting appearances of Eaves this season has indicated he is a million miles away from first team football. As has been said above, not the time to put him and Brookey into the firing line. Not saying either of them wont make it, however neither are going to get us out of this mess at the moment.
Smalley and Colbeck will do just fine. Joe C had a field day against them away, if he does that agin it will be happy days...
Until Wycombe go down to ten men, he gets hauled off and we go all defensive again.
Seriously, Nardiello or not, Penney has to ensure that they go all out to win this. If we keep the attempts on goal to the same level, then surely we will be too much for Wycombe...the loss of Nardiello should not be allowed to become an excuse.
-
------------------Brill----------------
Lee--------Rubes------Gregan-----Jacobsen (Or Steer!)
--------Furman---Stephens-----Whitaker----------
Smalley------------Abbott-------------------Taylor
We have 3 natural wingers and a load of central midfielders, we should utilise them.
Quite like the look of that formation.
-
Oldham v Wycombe
Southend v Exeter
Stockport v Gillingham
Three big games. You cant really see the dippers getting anything away to Bristol Rovers. A draw in that Southend game and a win for us could give us a very sizeable bit of breathing space ahead of our game at Stockport in the midweek.
Just noticed Southend have a similar run in to ours, where they've a number of home games in a row which all their fans will be thinking they should be taking points from. Exeter, Carlisle, Walsall.
A win for Stockport would be good, IF we win against Wycombe...but bad if we lose or draw, because their tails would be up for the midweek game.
-
sink or swim comes to mind though ,
While I agree with that sentiment, I would rather see Penney stick Alessandra up front, because their game will suffer as a result of the barracking they get once they fail to score a hat-trick...or miss a 'sitter' etc., etc.
Where is Alessandra anyway?
-
eh?
Sorry, I was just having a light hearted dig because we got 'berated' on this thread
No harm intended.

-
Interesting - maybe an early play for the job if... he certainly talks a tough game
My thoughts exactly...he's a bit Dowie(esq) in his attitude.
Anyway, no speculation from me, as a certain MaskedOwl is on the prowl.

We don't have the best of luck with our loanees do we? See fishul for latest on Goodwin:
http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/NewsU...1990850,00.html
Flahavan - fractured cheekbone
Nardiello - hamstring
Goodwin - thigh muscle strain
:censored: - whatever
Maybe that's why 'unnamed striker' turned is down
That's assuming said striker has looked into the loanee to injury ratio at B.P.
More than likely he decided that life 'Up North' is not suited to one as cosseted as he is.
