We don't deserve it and would only show ourselves up
We've had enough shite for another season
On to the next and the next after that
Chance has gone now but we win the next three anyway.
Kiddie will beat Halifax this evening. -

Left his armband on the pitch late on. Think it was pulled off by an Alty player.
I think he is part of the problem with our motivation and lack of leadership.
Did he throw his dummy out after his spat with the fans? The more I think about this set of players the more I believe they are doing it to piss off the fans..which is just a bizarre notion but it keeps springing to mind.

That's not the way it seemed in the 2nd half yesterday...
That's true but the consistency of quality is truly baffling and has cost us big time. I really don't think there is any chance of the playoffs now.

Stones, Garner, Conlon and Dallas (ok not worked out but clearly a solid signing on paper) aren't abysmal for mid-season recruitment by any stretch.
Stones getting injured was typical Latics misfortune. I think Dallas could come good given time, Garner seems a better partnership with Fondop and if what we are told is true, Conlon's mentality has been fucked by his family telling him he made the wrong choice of club.

Based on what? We haven't lost to them in for 8 years, they're below us in the table and they're in turmoil...
Probably based on the fact that Latics' form has nosedived, oh, and the players have decided that they don't play football anymore..at least not the way Mellon wants them to.

25 years ago Curzon Ashton were in the North West Counties League, now they are in the National League North play offs with a great chance of facing Latics next season.
And on top of that Ashton United could be in the NLN next season one league away from us.
Who have thought it?
The shifting sands of football, BP, fortune and misfortune meet somewhere in the middle.
It makes the game what it is..apart from the greedy league. -

I praise your optimism. but we ain't going to get any closer than that.

..Although he needs to show that he can do something different in the next four games to alleviate some pressure on him..
We all would like to see this happen but I think, deep down, we all know it won't.

He stays for me, massive massive clear out required on the playing front. Let him bring in his own men and see how we get on.
Darren Royle also needs to step up to the plate football wise.
What can Royle do?
The manager is employed on contract, they have to stick with him and hope the summer brings about the change required. Me, I am not hopeful, given the state of contracts in place already etc. and along with the rest of us, powerless but to stand by and watch.Quite depressing really, given the lift the Rothwell's brought to the club when they saved it. Whatever is going or has gone wrong behind the scenes, we will probably never know but the Kidderminster fiasco appears to have been some kind of catalyst.
Team will most likely finish in the same position as last season.

Much better second half and should’ve scored and I think probably a draw would have been a fair result..
Are you reading the script for Mellon's post-match presser?

It is on TNT so easy enough to find a pub showing it if you want.
I know the Blue Club in Chadderton is open now and showing the match this afternoon, OL9 0HH.
FFS! I have TNT as part of my BT package.
Does this mean I have to watch it? -

Oldham Rugby 54 Rochdale 6.
The players didn't seem to have much fear of playing at Boundary Park.
There has to be a sizeable crowd there as well, BP.

..I also suspect that there might be something amiss at a higher level than team manager at Boundary Park which could make his job a fair bit more difficult than it ought to be..
Care to elaborate on that?

Cos there is now no real expectation and I think most have written the season off. I get your point though
Although I am resigned to the playoffs being well beyond this current crock of shite, I kind of get your reasoning. I have a family which is diverse in team support, ranging from Newcastle to Liverpool, United, City and Barcelona as well as Birmingham. I am now getting the jibes about Latics shitting out of the playoffs. Not happy.

The more I see of the youths the more I'm impressed with the coach. You can see every single player wants to play for him. I reckon he'd encourage the same style of quick passing football if given the first team job. He's got a great future in the game this man.

I think I've spotted why we are underperforming.
After going down to 10 men the players unleashed the shackles and played the they wanted, not Mellon and Brabin's.
Gardner and Dallas were prime examples.
This indicated to me the players don't like being pressured to play a style of football they dislike.
Mellon and Brabin must give the players freedom to express themselves or IMO things will get worse
You may have a point there, BP.
Didn't Sheridan tell them to just go out and play?- 1

Expect messy, I think this particular team is done for the season now.

Mellons post match is awful.
Just looks resigned to it all.
Stopped it half way through due to the depressing and monotonous same comments as previous. No confidence anything is going to change much in the near future and next season probably a rinse-repeat, possibly at the wrong end of the table because we certainly won't be anywhere near favourites to go up if this continues.

It's not realistic to expect fans to nominate the ideal manager. Who anywhere would have been aware of the bloke at Ipswich for example?
It's currently looking like it's not realistic to let the Royles nominate the ideal manager, either. Miracle required at BP close season otherwise it's possibly a groundhog day next season.

That shite donkey Garity has just scored his 12th goal of the season for a poor Port Vale side in L1.
Absolutely the right decision not to sign him as we are fine in midfield
He'd probably be a shit as the rest of them in this team.

Fuck this lot. Sack the lot of them and start afresh. Absolute fucking cowards. Don't think there's a manager on earth would get a tune out of these dickheads
We all know that cannot happen and the worry is the budget will not be there to bring in what is required, so we end up with some new players who will actually do the job and drag the rest with them.

Will finish 4-2 this. Hate this team. Hate how we setup with 3 players out of position each game. Fucking hate this squad to death.
Only if they take a goal off Fylde and give it to Latics. It's going to take a lot of hard work for Mellon to sort this out during the close season, if he is capable.
