Not sure it's the game for Sachdev quite yet although he's obviously been brought in to play, I'd be tempted to go with the physicality of Sutton away from home.

    Hudson

    Sutton

    Hobson

    Raglan

    Kitching

    Gardner

    Conlon

    Lundstrum

    Garner

    Norwood

    Dallas

    Sheron

    Hammond

    Walker

    Green

    Fondop

Garner, Norwood, Dallas! I like your thinking, Yarddog.
Can't see it happening, but the Ebsfleet defence would be shitting themselves. :D

He didn't score many when he was facing goal.

True..but..different manager, different ideas, different team..you never know. If Nuttall does well on loan, then I suspect he would not want a return to BP and I can't say I blame him for not wanting to. Only time will tell and good luck to the players who took the leap into moving elsewhere for another bite at the cherry.

But they are a bad investment-business sense seems to fly out the window with football ownership-something I dearly hope is not going to happen to us BUT the signs are not good at the moment. I am amazed that I actually have to contemplate this after what has happened in the past.

Depending upon sugar daddies and foreign owned money laundering is not a viable business plan but it is happening all around us in this sport.

It's not just football and the club with the Rothwell's, it's the town of Oldham, the community and the value of the club to the community and sports in the town. The guy is an altruistic philanthropist, that's why he is rowing the Atlantic for a good cause. It's in his nature.

Be honest though. Is it a position you would sign given the other failings in the team? Can have all the forwards in the world (which we seem to have) but we cannot get the ball  to them.

I totally agree, we need more in midfield to feed the strikers and not punting it over the top like the donkeys were doing last Saturday. That's down to Mellon to make sure they don't do that. We've seen glimpses of what our midfield can do, he needs to get them consistent.

I still believe our forward line is now the best in this league, even beyond Chesterfield's..we just need the rest to step up to the mark.

    Er…in 2016 he might have been..last time I checked, it’s 2024 😉

I can't figure you out sometimes.
    Negativity or tongue-in-cheek? :D

Garner is a good signing for this level of football.

We're non-league. If he'd gone to one of our rivals, I'm pretty sure we would be saying how good a signing it was for this level. I can't imagine many [if any] defences relishing the thought of the possibility of potentially facing up to Norwood, Dallas and Garner in the opposition's forward line..with big Mike waiting in the wings.

    Over to you, Mr Mellon.

Looking around the league can anyone say they have done better business than we have this month certainly looking at our promotion rivals I think we've strengthened more than any of them have. It's putting us in a really good position and setting ourselves up nicely for the run in. This is where having a strong squad will matter and I think we are atleast as strong as everyoneelse now.

When I think back to the summer business undertaken by Unsworth and the whiff of excitement his spiel gave us regarding unparalleled training and the 'apparent' quality of the signings, I can fully understand any caution in getting too enthusiastic with the latest batch of recruits. Of the ones brought in, only Dallas is known to me but I have much more faith in Mellon than I ever had in big Dave.

Tomorrow should be interesting in the line up and formation we put out against Barnet. Norwood and Dallas up front should be enough to put the frighteners on any non-league defence.

    Of course.

But made up Hyperbole about getting rid of the half squad is just silly.

I don't think anyone making those comments actually expects it to happen, it's just a knee-jerk reaction to an embarrassing defeat. Chesterfield sent out 11 non-first-team players against Welling. Mellon gave fringe players a chance and they wasted it.

5PM saying he’s close to a few more signings, and intimidated that people will see the quality they’re trying to bring in. (Which following on from Conlon implies they won’t come cheap)

Blows my ‘no budget left until summer’  theory right out of the window. The backing of Frank and his family continues to surprise and delight me.

It's his Scottish accent which makes him intimidating. :D

  9. I feel quite happy with Conlon signing and the pedigree does suggest the club's intent to build a squad capable of progressing out of this league. Credit to Mellon and his team for getting this one over the line, we now appear to have an actual, proper manager and assistant in place. I still believe promotion [without a miraculous run and set of circumstance] is not on the cards this season, however, next season could be it. 💪 :D
