Initially, yep - and that's probably the only reason he hasn't been sacked or had the majority turn on him. The managers who get time are able to consistently churn out results...
That's not just here, it's everywhere. Every manager in the modern day who has been given "time" has been given the time because they've gone in and won football matches. Wild was mentioned earlier - people point out he was given 3 years at Halifax. The reason he got 3 years is because he went in and immediately won games of football.
Flip side of that is Noble at Wealdstone. Gone in there, can't buy a win. Sacked. It isn't just an Oldham issue...
You're probably not far off. My faith in him is down to his previous efforts in this division and not really anything to do with how he's done at Oldham so far...
We had a proper wander and look around the main stand, by the way, and there was no sign of either Mellon or Brabin. I did find that quite disappointing, although they may have had scouts there...
He came out the gym when we were walking round to the ground against Fylde, about 2.15.
From what I've heard, he was happy to go out on loan, but Latics wanted his wages paid in full and the club who wanted him couldn’t/wouldn't do it...
Oldham will win. They provided a reaction in the 2nd half at Altrincham and I expect them to continue in the same way this weekend.
Who's coming in from obscurity this week? My guess is Walker...
Been some very disappointing ones. Your best friend Pete G sums it up for me by pointing out the expensive recruitment over the last 18 months or so and us still calling on Gardner, Sheron, Fondop and McGahey to be key players...
Went to the Halifax game last night. Seen nothing that makes me change my view that we can overtake them. Aldershot have two tricky away games coming up - I expect us to be in the playoffs positions by 10pm next Wednesday...
