  1. Nope. The player I had in mind is definitely still with his current club. And he's older than Wellens.
  2. The five most played on my ipod right now - Veridis Quo - Daft Punk Phantom, Part 1 - Justice How It Ends - DeVotchKa I Get Around (Midnight Juggernauts mix) - Dragonette Don't Stop Till You Get Enough - Derrick Laro & Trinity
  3. It's not Mulryne. And just to be clear, I didn't say he'd played for Man U, just that he'd played at Old T. Don't know about fees - he's under contract at his current club but I don't know if they'd want a fee. Am pretty sure he's a central mid only.
  4. It is not Wallwork. I will honestly share once we're either close to signing, assuming we get to hear, or if he signs elsewhere. He's an experienced thirtysomething with bags of Championship experience, but as we're competing for him I don't want to be blamed if it leaks out and someone else moves in.
  5. Nope. Vaguely similar ballpark though (not the same age, but similar experience).
  6. Please. That Linfield kit looks bobbins. Like Rotherham blended with Ipswich. Stick it on a (slightly skeletal) attractive woman and people think it's quality...
  7. feel free not to read, ed. I gave my reasons for not naming, I've not posted any more other than to correct comments where people are barking up the wrong alley.
  8. I didn't say an ex-MU player, actually. I said a player who'd played at Old Trafford. And I said experienced. Read into that what you will
  9. To clarify once again on this midfielder - I was told we were after him but he may choose to sign for a Championship club. My source was keen but not massively hopeful, so don't expect too much. If he does sign elsewhere I'll post on here to confirm who it was (if I remember).
  10. The O'Grady fee is less than £65,000 (per the same person who told me about the signing). As for the contract, I have no inside knowledge but the fee and the contract are separately negotiated (since one is payable to the club for the player's registration and one is agreed with the player). You'd be foolish to spend a lot on a fee for a player and then only agree a short contract, but you can back out of a deal if you can't agree terms. I assume that TTA are comfortable with both the fee and contract length.
  11. I'm saying nothing about O'Grady (although a quick bit of research just now suggests not every Rotherham review is a bad one - I've also been told he's reasonably talented and has a good work rate, a bit like Paul Warne but with more goals). As for the midfielder, he's certainly more well-known but I have my doubts that he'll wow everyone.
  12. Christ. Why would anyone want to join this club when fans are moaning before they even step on the pitch. Unbelievable.
  13. Ah well. I was nearly right. Hope it still comes off tomorrow.
  14. He's a striker, between six foot and six five in height, depending which site you read.
  15. BigFin, I'm on a mobile as this site is blocked from work. You'll have to keep guessing!
  16. That's all folks - let's wait and see whether I've been given good information about tomorrow's signing or whether I have to put my hands up and take the abuse.
  17. Just to repeat: the striker is signing for a five-figure fee tomorrow (Tuesday). The midfielder (experienced, has played mostly at Championship level) is one we're after but there's competition and he may go elsewhere (and, as I said above, I don't think he's been linked with us before).
  18. No messaging, sorry, if it gets out that may be the last tip I get. Judge me by the end of the day tomorrow.
  19. Yep. Me too. And I could be wrong - it could be duff information. I'm hoping not, though.
  20. I'm trying not to give the game away. The midfielder is experienced and has played mostly at the Championship level.
  21. Five-figure fee. Midfielder is a name I don't think has been linked with us already, but as I said there's stiff competition for him so we may lose out.
  22. So I get home today to find a message from someone in the know at BP who names two players we're after, one of whom is signing tomorrow (Tuesday 27 May). (There's a convoluted story about why I have this message.) I'm not going to name the players involved, as it feels a bit rude to come rushing to a message board to share a private message, but since I never normally hear any gossip I'm interested in seeing if this turns out to be true. Obviously you can choose not to believe me one bit but I've never posted a "mate of a mate told me" story before. There will be a striker signing tomorrow for a decent transfer fee (not a free), and we're chasing an experienced midfielder who's played at Old Trafford (although there's stiff competition for that signing so it may not come off). (And no, it's not Paul Scholes.) I will be happy if these signings come off. They are the quality of player that we should be striving for (and can realistically get!).
