  2. There'll be a few that went through just before the deadline and they'll be waiting for the FA to accept that the paperwork was received in time, but that's about it otherwise. Maybe Byrne will sign for us, maybe it's a loan signing in a week, but otherwise that's all folks.
  3. Heh. I spent bloody ages looking for companies called "Taylor Exits" or "Lewis Leaves". Very inconsiderate that there aren't any!
  4. Not good news is the shocking price for Taylor... Taylor sold! ...but at least Hughes signs!
  5. I've also never lived in Oldham. My dad's side of the family are all Oldhamers, and both he and my grandad are Latics fans. I was born in Essex, raised in the south, and have lived in Scotland, Australia and for the last few years London. When I was at school and the other lads were starting to get into football it was all Liverpool, Manchester United, the occasional Tottenham or West Ham fan. The nearest clubs geographically to me then were Reading or Southampton; I had no tie to or love for any of them. It was family ties that picked my team for me, and that's how it stuck.
  6. The Britannia. Absolutely unremarkable, but station pubs aren't brilliant generally. The Mad Bishop & Bear at Paddington is the best of a bad bunch.
  7. Not sure. Fuller's bought it a while back. Best guess I have for the name change is October 2006.
  8. now called the Doric Arch (same pub, different name)
  9. congratulations, Mister Naive, hope you have as much fun as I did ... and a subtle hip-flask full of cheap brandy works wonders ...
  10. Cool, I didn't know they did AV as well. I'm using their firewall and it's not too bad. Might switch from Avast if you recommend it.
  11. Er, isn't COMODO a personal firewall? Or do they have AV software as well?
  12. I live ten minutes from Somers Town. It doesn't look like a great place (although the bit where it backs onto Euston Road and the British Library is quite nice). Eversholt Street has an entertaining mix of shops - cafes, a pretty good curry house (Nepalese I think), the aforementioned Transformations and a table-dancing club. Still better to pass the whole place by though.
  13. Yes, the one time I've emailed him at the club I had a response within a day and an offer to give him a call. Others may have had different experiences, but given his tenure at the club clearly he's not in it for the money, power or fame (he picked the wrong club if that's the case!).
  14. He's signed for Bradford Park Avenue. Their chairman described him as a former England B international. Ahaha.
  15. Links: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html http://free.avg.com/ww.download?prd=afe
  16. Avast or AVG both have free editions. I used to use the latter, no problems but lately they try to flog you other software as well. Currently trying Avast, not as user friendly but seems unobtrusive.
  17. Cheers chaps, I'm raising a Turkish brandy to you now.
  18. Apologies if I'm being dense in not seeing the thread, but I'm on my honeymoon in Turkey, it was 51 degrees today, and my missus is not impressed at my constant attempts to find a score on my mobile browser...
  19. no, I don't think the red wine had a shot on target
  20. Named alongside players like Beckham, Blanco and Donovan in their team of the year - 8 goals and an assist in 16 games (sounds like a short season to me...). Received 28% of the votes for best forward in the league. Hmm.
  21. COMODO has been getting very good reviews as a free personal firewall. I had the problem mentioned above, assumed it was ZoneAlarm, and replaced it with COMODO (seems decent so far).
  22. bad guesswork on my part, acknowledged above! I'm not a fan of retiring shirts, have to admit. We haven't for past players like Groves, and we've had other worthy number 4s too. Keeping it free for this season only seems respectful, and there've been lots of other great ideas on remembering Ernie. Just my humble opinion tho...
