  1. I just wish the singing would spread out a bit more rather than just being in the Chaddy End. It can feel a bit intimidating to be one of the few in my area who's willing to chant but I still do it nonetheless. Just imagine the noise we would make if EVERYONE joined in? It'd be phenomenal and I firmly beleive that a good, loud chorus of something spurs the players on and that's were we need to step in when they're having a bad performance. Don't just go quiet, SING LOUDER!
  2. I completely agree and he think he knew he had a good game as well cos he seemed to be pretty shocked to learn he was being subsituted
  3. I remember the Bournemouth game at home last season, I took my mate to that match who at this point was a City fan. First thing she spoke about was the atmosphere. She was saying she understood why I loved coming to Boundary Park simply because the crowd just carried on chanting even when we were losing. So she converted simply because she loved the atmosphere. Dunno what the point to that little story was but I thought I'd share it anyway. As a fan, I think it feels incredibly uplifting to hear a chorus of OWTB or something so I can't begin to imagine how it makes the players feel to hear everyone getting behind them like that and I don't think it should ever stop no matter how badly we're playing or what league position we're in.
  4. Can't beleive someone's voted to sack Sheridan. Come on, the man got us into the play offs in his first season in charge so it's stupid imo to call for his head 5 matches into the season. Yeah I understand that we've lost 4 of those matches and we're in a dire situation but surely it's worse to be managerless on top of it all?
  5. Yeah I remember he did an interview in FourFourTwo a few months back where he said he'd never rule out ending his career at Oldham
  6. Yeah that's actually something that really confused me as well. Like in the film it was just an endless amount of happy moments and different endings when it should have been the Scouring of the Shire. Atleast the filmmaker stayed sort of true to the book by having Wormtongue killing Saruman but if I remember rightly, Wormtongue slit his throat rather than stabbed him but I shouldn't really be too picky about the details
  7. lol the books bored the hell out of me! Was kinda bummed that they left Tom Bombadil out of the films though... I really wanted to see how he would have turned out. But nah, I'm just not a big fan of the books. The story itself is absolutely brilliant but the books are just too much. I suppose I will try and read them again one day though.
  8. I've actually got Shattered Icon myself but just not got round to reading it yet. And I'm shocked that you can't stand Potter! It's great! I could read Harry Potter non-stop for aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages...unlike Lord of the Rings. Oh my God, tried reading Fellowship of the Ring again a few months back and it just bored me. Too much description. No idea how I managed to get through The Silmarillion Loved the Lord of the Rings films though...
  9. I've not bothered to read Deception Point or Digital Fortress yet. Probably will do at some point though. But yeah, Angels and Demons is just one of those books that I could read over and over and not get bored of it but the Da Vinci Code bored me after I read it the second time
  10. I didn't really think the hospital part was a pointless detour because it introduced us to Neville's parents and stuff. Yeah I agree the revising stuff was a bit boring in the book and it got a bit repetative going through all the random doors in the ministry so that was right to be left out of the film but there was loads of stuff I was looking forward to seeing in the film like all the Quidditch matches, Hagrids tale and all the stuff that happens at Sirius's house. The film didn't really do Kreacher justice either because I didn't get the feeling that he loathed Sirius as much as is described in the book. And S_W, out of the books you've mentioned, I've only read Angels and Demons and I thought that was such a brilliant book, definately better than the Da Vinci Code. A couple of books I particularly enjoyed where 'The Lost Army of Cambyses' and 'The Last Secret of the Temple' by Paul Sussman. Again, both murder books but they both cover so much like terrorism, illegal antiques dealing, the whole Israel/Palestine thing etc but they both cover loads of historical stuff like ancient Egypt, the Crusades as well as the Holocaust
  11. lol I can't beat that. I usually get in that kinda state when I have a particularly good book to read. Just finished one called 'A Death in Vienna' by Daniel Silva and I thought it was such a good book! It was about the reprecussions of the Holocaust so being a history freak, it was just my cup of tea Got nothing to read now though but there's no point in starting anything until after I've read the next HP
  12. lol it really is a threadkiller! Something tells me that we're the only 2 Harry Potter geeks on this forum. It wasn't that long ago since I read Half-Blood Prince so I'm not bothering to read them again. Well can't wait for the next one to come out though. More geekiness: I usually find that with the new HP books, I just spend the entire day sitting in my room doing nothing but reading, sometimes even forgetting to eat or summat. Hows that for sad?
  13. lol nah it's not geeky. I can't wait for it either - and erm this is embarrassing that I'm actually doing this but I'm actually gonna go to Waterstones in Manchester with a couple of mates and que up just to buy it. I hope Dumbledore comes back somehow cos I well don't think he's really dead. I saw the film on Saturday and it was kind of a letdown if you're a massive fan of the books cos they miss so much stuff out!
  14. Ok I think I'm killing off this thread by moaning about my problems. So I'll talk about summat different... Anybody seen Harry Potter yet?
  15. Supposed to be going this weekend but I moaned about that so it was changed to next Wednesday but I'm still not happy. Don't see the point in moving until the end of the summer hols cos what am I gonna do for all of August if I can't see my friends or anything? So I'm trying to make my Dad let me and my sis stay in the house for a bit longer cos he isn't selling it yet
  16. I'm stuck in the house cos I'm not allowed out had an arguement with my Dad about moving so he just said I can't go anywhere. So I'm bored as anything. Why can't I have been grounded when it's raining lol
  17. Well in the real world, no idea what I wanna do for a job. But in college, I'm doing History, Government and Politics, Philosophy and English Combined. I'd've loved to do Fine Art, just drawing and painting but I've not had time to finish a portfolio to do that. I was gonna include drawings of the entire squad for last season but I didn't get that finished either no point in carrying that on seen as half of them have gone
  18. I would not get ousted by my deputy! I'd make a great PM As for the personal car, I'd rather travel around in a tank - they're so much more cooler
  19. Sorry to dissappoint but I've already decided I'm doing History at Uni Then again, I could do something completely different and carry on with Politics and use my genius-ness to become PM which sounds like it could be fun...
  20. I agree, in fact, I'm taking Government + Politics and Philosophy at college so does that mean I'm gonna be a genius one day?
  21. I hope something happens soon. I've been so bored after...erm...yesterdays signing
  22. I completely agree. I know people have expressed other opinions but I would actually be chuffed if we did sign Clarke
  23. His post seriously made me laugh because how pointless it was at parts. It's so easy to just pull arguements like that apart and prove him wrong. Hmmmmm, maybe if I ever decide to argue with anybody, I should add that my cousin's best mate used to go out with Tony Carss. It's not interesting, it's completely pointless but it might give me more credibility
  24. Yeah that was the part of Lordy's arguement I didn't really understand. Just seemed completely irrelevent to me...
  25. Taking that a bit far aren't you? Yeah it's one thing to say Porters a disgrace to the club cos of everything that's been going on but saying the fans who defend him are a disgrace as well isn't really fair. It's just people's opinions and as such, some members see fit to defend him so I don't think you can have a go for that. And erm I don't really see how you travelling the country to see Oldham fits in with anything
