  1. Really. Am i the only one who still loves going to the matches. Couple of pints, have the craic, pound on first goal scorer, enjoy the game then get ready for the evenings plans. Ill miss crewe myself for family reasons but huddersfield is the certainly one of the best games.

Of course i don't want to be in this league any longer but were probably in our best state to get out of it. Theres far too much negativity around latics and i honestly don't think its justified

  2. I think that WAS the problem - he seemed to be over hyped and it took his mind off the job at hand, saying that i didn't think he was that bad.

Of course he had off days though, every player does - it's not about off days though, it's about the ability to grab hold of games by the scruff and make things happen and i don't believe on this seasons showing that this guy is good enough to do that.

I thought Rocastle was really good in those games which may sound ludicrous but i honestly thought we might of built the team around him last season but maybe im insane for thinking that. Probably.

Fair enough i respect your views on Whitaker, but we did get him on a free and with our budget i don't know who we could afford/attract at this level whos better.

Incidentally Maher i do rate, and people are definitely right to say he should play more

  3. He's got the ability to do that as we know! Whitaker is not a fall guy, as the majority of the team were not at their best - but if you are suggesting that you would prefer him in our midfield than wellens then...............

I remember Wellens having plenty of off days too. Two shocking performances against his former club Blackpool in the play offs too, you would think he would of been fired up for that?

  4. It's not jumping down a players throat, it is merely answering a question regarding whether we believe or not that one of our underperforming midfielders is good enough or not.

As for Wellens - you could not fault him, as now he is playing at a level suitable to his ability and earning more money for the privelage - no harm in that is there?

a lot better than Gary Mac??

When we have a poor result such as drawing at home to a team we all accept we should beat it always seems there a fall guy as opposed to accepting collectively as a team we just didn't perform. If we had beat orient yesterday there no way a debate on Whitaker being good enough would of emerged.

Gay mac was notable for equalising away at Scunthorpe and obviously the goal against Everton in the cup. Apart from that everyone seemed to be on his back for being virtually anonymous most times he played last season.

Wellens is old ground but im pretty confident he will be playing League 1 football next season. I did note he played a good ball through to heffernan yday tho against wolves

  5. Because they are in a very fickle, clueless majority of football fans! The only thing they'll be missing is a red AIG shirt and a remote control in their hands!

Hang on Whitaker has missed a couple of games through injury maybe hes not fully fit, but shez has picked him to play over maher in which case its his responsibility for calling it wrong.

Its all too easy to jump down players throats but hes a hell of a lot better player than Gary McDonald who we had for most of last season in central midfield. Forget Wellens he didn't want to be here we offered him a good contract but weve got to be responsible not bowing down to greedy mercenary's

P.S Gary melia you should know better :-p

  6. the table has bleak reading now with hudders and tranny almost catching us up and stockport courtesey of a poor decision to loan them davies now ahead of us, 6 points off 2nd

Its easy to say it was a poor decision when he scores a hatrick but if he comes back in January back to form and brimming with confidence he'll be like a new signing. I agree with Sheridan saying he needed a change of scenery and there was little point in him kicking his heels here particularly with the absence of the reserve team.

  7. Big Shez fan and will back him as Oldham manager.

But the news that Danny Wilson is available is intersting news. Wilson is on manager I'd like to see at Latics some time - always plays the game the right way.

If Shez was to leave - I'd want Wilson in.

    Anyone else have any thoughts?

Ive always liked Danny Wilson in terms of him being a reasonable manager and always honest.

He was at Bristol City for an awful long time, going near on promotion endlessly but never quite making it, Gary Johnson came in later and they went up within a couple of years. Would that suggest Wilson couldnt quite cut the mustard?

  8. I don't really want to give any credibility to the rumour which i suppose i am in replying but ive got to say shez has assembled a great squad which has taken time, a blend of young players bursting with potential many of whom rolled up from the youth team (Eardley, Taylor, Allessandra, Smalley, Lomax etc.. ) and old heads (Hughes, Lidds, Gregan) who all seem to be pretty close knit and get on well.

I believe were on the verge of being successful, why on gods green earth would he swap all them factors for 100% instant expectation and starting over again from scratch. Makes no sense whatsoever to me.

Like was said only place i can see him going in present circumstances is Sheff Weds.

  9. While the tax thing gives us a nice insight to his earnings (assuming it's accurate) when you factor in national insurance the jump in tax is effectively 31% to 41%, so not a significant part of any final decision.

Getting the right package from the right club is what it boils down to.

    Hope that's Latics.

I just hope we offer Taylor the best deal we can. Hes worth his weight in gold mostly because hes a local lad with genuine affection for the club.

As much as i rate say Hughes theres nothing about him to me that suggests he wouldn't chase the Yankee dollar at another club

  10. Maybe instead of having over 10 copper's in the ground doing nothing maybe they could patrol where the car's seem to get broken into every week? It only takes a couple of police to keep an eye on the car's to put off the thiefs doing it again. It is what we pay our taxes for..

Id recommend the Clayton Green. Ok they may charge you 5 quid on a Saturday but you get the voucher redeemable against pre/post match food/drink. With the two heavys on the door thieves will have far easier targets. Also a lot easier to get away than say B&Q.

  11. why apoligise...strikers are supposed to be greedy!

like what he did today, hope he does stay on!

it showed IMO the class between him and our other 2nd choice strikers are really apart in quality.

What you tend to get with loanee's is either a rather rusty or half arsed attitude well he ripped that rule book up.

I wouldn't want to detract from what was a very good all round team performance but id sign the bloke up tomorrow if im honest, and yes after one viewing

  12. Says he wants to extend his deal for longer than the month. Really enjoyed playing today, likes playing the Shez style...suits his game.

Apologised to Hughesy for going for goal himself in 2nd half rather than squaring...hasn't scored in a while and got excited...

He was bloody fantastic actually, really impressive

  13. The map has been updated unusually early as well, brought to you by "Mario's Ristorante and Pizzeria" (the home of draught Peroni in Oldham) and Joe Calzaghe Late Nite Boxing

Good read that site. I liked the 'Magic Roundabout' paragraph on the Swindon Town page. Tickles me they've made a cycle lane around the perimeter of the madness, just the icing on the cake that :D

  14. You misunderstand the purpose and raison d'etre of a nudist beach, and nudism in general. It's not to ogle naked bodies or beauties in the buff (go to a striptease or lap dancing instead), but to enjoy the interaction of your body with nature, unencumbered by clothes or need to cover up (hence naturism). It's a non-sexual way of enjoying one's bodies.

If you go to a naturist/nudist beach with the intention of ogling, you will be made unwelcome, and rightly so.

I was seriously waiting for such a view but my comments were mostly tongue in cheek. I do doubt how it isn't something sexual to an extent tho, because if your walking around naked and see something you like even unintentionally that suddenly because something kind of sexual. Im up for nudism tho end of the day its only natural and if adam hadn't of eaten that apple we would all be naked now
