If Sheridan had signed until the end of the season only and (like Gerrard) just wanted to put himself in the shop window, then saved us and then moved on then so be it. He didn't though, he signed a two and a half year contract. If he goes then the contract and his stated 'love of Latics' will have proved meaningless and empty, I don't believe either of those relate to Sheridan and expect him to see out the job.

The problem is, it's easier to get a job while you are still in one. It's probably more sensible to take up new offers while your stock is high than wait for the inevitable sack and then sit around and hope śomething will come along. Hope Sheridan doesn't see it like that but anyone who has changed jobs will know that your loyalty to the new employer switches instantly to them with little real thought for the one you are leaving.

Mills playing on the right would have been a better option perhaps.

Home wins against Crewe and Coventry will safely see us home.

I agree it might come to this, we could potentially lose all three of these away games on the run but two home wins will hopefully be enough.

Just watched the match again (first half and extra time - couldn't find second half):

1) there was very little backchat at the ref

2) there was no play acting by the players

3) there was no trying to con the ref

4) players didn't fall over at the slightest touch

5) Barry Davies was a great football commentator and knew when to shut up (take note Jonathan Pearce)

Great memories and a good hours viewing but it's all about the now and our support for the current team I guess.

Forte last night was very poor and he has been for a while, didn't show himself and when he did he wasn't able to hold up the ball. Needs to step up or get on the bench. Even his much heralded pace doesn't help just now.

Let's not forget then that we had these idols even when playing in division four!

Same here, my favourite when I started watching, aged 10. When I saw the headline I thought it was to compare Tommy with our new boy Palmer, that would have been a decent shout as I remember him. Sad news.
