Course there will be. We will make 7/8 signings, which transforms the match day squad.

Well if that’s the case then DR needs to say as much pretty damn quick as the early bird offers end in 10 days time.

The club wants us to commit early so let’s have some encouraging narrative.

All we’ve heard to date from our head honcho MM is doom & gloom!!

Unless there are some sort of encouraging noises from our CEO our ST take up is sure to suffer a substantial drop which in itself will drastically affect next season’s budget!

I have to say that communication with our fanbase is as bad as it’s ever been and I include the Lemsagam’s  ‘slowly slowly’ era!!

It shouldn’t need speculative journalism from the Oldham Times to inform us of MM’s intentions it should come straight from the club.

    I expected much better!!

What a prospect, so he's effectively saying if we can get rid of the players we didn't have anyway we can re-sign the ones who took us on our worst winless run in twenty years at the lowest level we've ever played at. Sorry but that's just fucking stupid, does he somehow think he's going to get a different tune out of the same bunch?.

So if we can get Nuttall & Willoughby off the wage bill he’d look to re-sign two absolute crocks, an oil tanker & a reserve striker. That would mean us having 21 of the actual squad we had for this season……..surely not FFS!

If that’s true then I don’t know what to think anymore other than what is the actual point!

Suzanne just posted an update. Amazingly enough it isn’t as clear as that. Fondop, Gardner, Green and McGahey might be offered new terms if savings are made elsewhere in the squad (Nuttall and Willoughby mentioned). The others are definitely going.

So…if we manage to get shut of Nuttall  & Willoughby and save some money we’ve got the mouthwatering prospect of re signing, McGahey, Gardner, Green & Fondop!!!

For varying reasons they are all squad players at best…If that’s really what Mellon is considering he needs to go right now!!

York list is better structured. But they don't have the bloated squad, bag of exiles, unwanted that we have under contract.

Leavers are clear to me- perhaps there will be some back pedaling on that if we clear out more on the on contract players.

There maybe conversations going on with some contracted players- find another club, you don't really figure.....- but I wouldn't expect to put that on the web.

Discreet back channel conversations with interested parties for contracted players might result in a few 'undisclosed' or a few outgoing loans with lower contributions from us.

Pasting 'we think player X is crap and he can do one at the earliest' isn't the way to go even though we think it.

How difficult can it be……At this moment in time they will know who they definitely don’t want so all they needed to say was eg. All our out of contract players are being released apart from x & y with whom we are conducting talks.

X, y & z from the academy have been offered terms.

From our list of contracted players x y & z will be placed on the transfer list made available for loan or offered a settlement.

Considering the run we went on at the end of the season that's a pretty high approval rating overall.

Their does seem overall a lot less appetite for sacking the manager. So while knowone is happy with the way the season finished I think we are more fed up of rinse and repeat.

I know some have said that the only reason we shouldn't sack Mellon because of his prior track record I think overall its a compelling one. I do believe him when he says he knows what good looks like.

Knowing what good looks like is hardly a pre requisite for success ……We all know what good looks like FFS!!😂😂

And Cheltenham have Nuttall firing..how can that be?

Hardly firing for God’s sake!!..…he’s fumbled in 2 goals in 15 games.

I still maintain he was never happy here, wasn’t arsed about playing for Latics and came solely for the money.

If he engineers a permanent move then happy days……

We can do without the likes of Joe Nuttall thank you very much!

Few rumours of David worrall coming back. His lad goes swimming with my lad. Was speaking to him a few weeks back said we tried signing in December. Wild blocked it. He knows Brabin and good mates with Conlon

Only 7 appearances for Barrow this season…if he’s a mate of Conlon he probably wouldn’t come anywhere near BP!

    Agree.

Also, I think the stat is that this has only happened on 7 occasions in 5 years (shearer said this so perhaps it’s BS).

The replay, whilst financially rewarding, massively reduces the chance of the lower league team progressing. A penalty shoot out is much more a level playing field.

Maybe so, but the lower league clubs that have absolutely no chance of winning the cup are not really interested in a level playing field. The dangled carrot and the ‘Magic’ of the F A Cup is getting to the third round when the big teams join in and where small clubs and their players get a chance to play at Old Trafford, The Etihad, and The Emirates etc.etc. whilst making a shed load of money in the process!

Chesterfield have the average highest home attendance, so I guess they are the biggest ? We’re second.

They were top of the bloody league from start to finish & are up as champions. We finished 10th a full 35 points behind them and averaged only 900 less.

Last season we finished 12th and they lost in the playoff final yet our average was just 100 less.

We are bigger club with a bigger history!!

Perhaps there might be A Statement about whether there will be A Statement.

Don’t want to dampen the excitement about A Statement, but we could just wait and see how the squad re-shaping pans out over the next few weeks. Just a thought, like.

What about season ticket sales…just a thought like!😳🤔

I do think the club need to come out with something… a vision or an update on plans for the next period or something like that. But I’d prefer they take the time and produce something thorough rather than rush out something short.

They haven’t got time…the ST early bird offer finishes a week on Sunday!
