  1. And why on earth would it be of interest to a local paper to be scaremongering. And it isn't anyway. It's all factual. Apart from 'believed' which is just code for someone at the club has told him...facts. It be nonsensical for a board meeting not to talk about results so far in the season...!
  2. Time for Kelly to stick his balls on the line, ignore DH, and go for 3-4-1-2 - playing more players in their proper positions. As has been said, there's is nothing negative about one up top when it's played properly. If you dominate the midfield and break with pace, it's quickly a 4-2-4. But we haven't played it properly. Still, the mentality of just walking home based on the formation is clueless. Having said that, 4-4-2... Hmm predictable, easy to defend and mark against, the two in central midfield (particularly without Kelly) will get outnumbered and outfought. Welcome back, 4-5-1 by the opposition, who will stifle us. Welcome back the throughballs straight through the middle of the park for a one on one for the opposition. Then we'll try to resolve via the Dickov 4-4-1-1, where the man in the 'the hole' (phill, Baxter, Simpson), will be marked by a midfielder and a centre back - leaving us hoofing to a lone striker.... Although the goal for 2-0 on Sat was concerning, it's still perhaps time for 3-4-1-2. To help, like Shrewsbury did before last season, training should be constant drills of a defending a counter-attack: four versus our three. Then they will coordinate like a 'three', not panic and move like individuals in a four. I think he'll play it safe with a 4-4-2, and it'll be a dull, nervy hoof fest - and a 0-0 draw.
  3. Redfearn was taking notes on Saturday, as he has been doing the last few home games. A bit much for just scouting....?
  4. With the point continued to be missed I expect. The last time the Chaddy was full of our mob singing, there wasn't a problem. The debate has never been that the Chaddy cannot be heard when ppl in it sing - and no-one else in the ground bothers except for 40 Athleticos. The issue was that our players said they heard the support more - a large away following aside - when our few folk that do sing were in the stand without the slanting roof blocking the noise. And our few fans that do sing at home were sick of coming across quieter than one man and his dog 'from Crawley' giving it some in the RRE. Incidentally, I suppose the last time the Chaddy was full of our fans (well...mostly) was Liverpool and Everton........... ....... And the small section of the RRE completely dominated the atmosphere.
  5. Bar Forte, the best player we have at reading the game and being a fox in the box. His shots to goal ratio may explain why he's at this level, but, with even mediocre service, he at least finds the space, and the ball, to get the chance of getting a shot away in time. I'd say his best position is the right of a front three. He has scored a few goals, and got some assists, and penalties, often from drifting in from the right flank - where he isn't man-marked by a central defender who beats him to every long ball. But he hasn't got the pace to play right wing to be most effective in a 4-4-2 in my opinion as he'll get pushed back, although he is disciplined enough to do a job there - if Croft gets injured for example
  6. I bet that the source does.....! The irony - I'm sure a poster above one of the biggest critics when I was a source slag. Despite being objective and detached in passing info on, I was still on an ego trip. And even though a chunk of it came true, that was just mud sticking or a lucky guess each time of course.
  7. That's a tune. I didn't mind a bit of Faithless - Insomnia (teams) and Eric Prydst - Pjano (walk-on) at Forest either. But MoD would be fine - just something else that's 'us' and makes you feel at home, not just at a typical L1 game...
  8. So next season we're getting a new stand, new boss, new home end, new mascot name (?), new club shop (?), new kit, new club bar, new car park, new players, new flag... I might be getting greedy but could we ask the club..... New walk-on music? I like it to be 'original' to us, even if it's just a song like The Whip (reminds me of cup run), but just not the same old thing that's played at every ground... Any suggestions? Ps new scoreboard would be nice too....!
  9. Abuse over the top and the Gumtree stuff prob rubbish I agree but why, like the poster above said, is there this "side of the story", why didn't she just say she's giving the shirt back (if she's going to) - if she was just looking after it, why couldn't she say that and why would relatives of the kid hit out. She's still in the wrong and talking to 'sort things out' is just rubbish - nothing to sort out, just hand the shirt over! It's still a 'story', irrespective of Gumtree rubbish, until she gives the shirt back.
  10. People talking about the run and cross to the (offside) Obita... ;-) But what about the skilful use of his then voluminous derrière to put off Tim Howard for the corner from which Smith scored.....!
  11. I'd have taken Redfern over Rosler any day of the week. Rosler just a fashionable name that lacks delivery in my book. But Leeds is a good stage to prove me wrong!
  12. It includes everything - it's what Yates' agent was getting at with "bottom-six budget". Unless he got the wrong end of the stick, but I doubt it given his man was interviewed and would have sold himself on previously working well with low budgets...
  13. Thanks mate. You're totally correct on the whole, except amid my trafic mud slinging just a few bits stuck.... Bollocks that I was told we were definitely intent on signing Ched and then it was confirmed; bollocks when I was told it was definitely decided on Holden and an official statement followed a few hours later; bollocks that I learned Yates was a strong contender, and then he was reported to be on a short-list; bollocks that I passed on the message that Blitz was coming over to the UK and he was then spotted by fans a few days after; bollocks that Dowie was definitely after the job (despite his links with the vacancy being silent for weeks) and instigating talks with the club, and then reports followed before the man himself came out and officially confirmed he wanted the job as stated; bollocks that an appointment was being planned on the final weekend of the season, and then - albeit following a change of mind to do it at the game - the club confirms their new manager less than 24 hours after the match; bollocks that Keegan's tweet was definitely true and that Kelly had impressed greatly in interview and it was a done deal a few days ago - and then, with many on here still dismissing it as rumour, he rocks up at the game, journalists report he's there with the understanding he's got the job, and then he's unveiled. But moreover, efforts to share interesting info with fellow fans and spark debate - sadly, it seems, is bollocks. Me told :-) KTF
  14. You have a strong point. Yet, oddly given that statement, I seem to remember everyone on here was talking about Dowie and Yates when I put that on here after being told it was done and dusted and to be announced shortly be the club - which it then was.
  15. Yep, that's right. Just got lucky with a few things that came true a day or two after I posted them. Okay, here comes another one - a source has told me that next season we will finish either 15th or 16th...... :-) It was the Dowie one who's done the u-turn ("out of respect to Dowie's family") by the way Palmer1 - and if you're still bothered, read what I said again......
  16. Happy to reassure you that I'm still alive. As I'd already said, it was more than one source. And I made clear I was passing on speculative information, not endorsing it myself, which some people on here seemed to have great trouble understanding. I posted the news from one, confirming Keegan's tweet that Kelly was definitely getting the job, which he obviously has, a few days before he was appointed. That source also was correct with Holden getting the job until the end of the season. The other HP, who correctly aforementioned Blitz's arrival and Dowie's interest in the job, was linked to the Dowie camp. Shock, he doesn't want to be named now. He says he would have done if Dowie got the job. That fact probably explains some of the flowery info...to drum up fans' support - not that it apparently mattered....! To be honest it could be deciphered who he is via Twitter, but I'm not sure anyone is really bothered now, as you allude. It's time to get behind the new manager. Heard about a potential link-up with Spanish players, and Ashley Grimes was well liked by Holden at Walsall - but let's just see what happens...
  17. Matt Chambers @Matt_Chambers_ Am told that Darren Kelly was at the game today and expect him to be named as the new #oafc manager.
  18. Ian Cheeseman @IanCheeseman It's looking like Darren Kelly assisted by Dean Holden next season @OfficialOAFC - but unconfirmed for now
  19. No. He's a different one... But that guy did say about Blitz, and that Dowie was interested, both of which has since been confirmed - albeit with some flowery context.....! although I thought the same about Blitz, and then fans spotted him...
  20. I messaged a friend of one of the directors, asking him after seeing Keegan's tweet from earlier. Just backing it up - not trying to lord it as an exclusive.
  21. Wasn't reading Twitter when first to reveal Holden getting the job until end of the season on here, or that Mark Yates was on the short list, or the first to say Blitz was coming over a day or two before he did, or that Dowie really wanted the job and was instigating talks with the club... But sorry. Don't worry I don't mind. I'll stop being a source tart :-)
  22. I'm hearing it's set to be Kelly. Has impressed and relatively cheap. The LJ model strategy I guess.
