  1. Yet Rodgers ran the show v Notts County, was superb at Wolves. Granted he wasn't great at Shrewsbury yet still played the ball of the season in setting Charlie Mac up to equalise.

Struggling to understand why Mellor is not good enough, his block changed the game the other night. It took him a while to get into the game (like most of his mates) after that he put a decent shift in despite playing out of position and having allergic to defending Sid in front of him and before that a limping Dayton. Imo Mellor is the best long range passer at the club. Next game he plays watch and you'll see.

6 unbeaten and we still have to pick out scapegoats, no wonder I only occasionally post on here these days. It's like an online Main Stand Paddock.....

I would never go in the Main Stand because of those moaners and I bow to your points Prozac as you travel away a lot, but I think, and the Shrews fans seemed to highlight this, our left back was terrible. It seems that we are all agreed that Jacobson's injury changed the game completely and took the pressure off Mellor. However I don't want our full back to crack under pressure, I want him to take the game to them and thus ensure that his winger has to spend time defending.

Sid as we know will not defend adequately but I have made my points re him under another thread, He should play and just attack, he is our best weapon, especially away and if we get a left back in to enable him to do so, good! Re Rodgers, if he was any good, he would be playing in place of Wes, not just cameo roles!

  2.

This a thousand times. Schmeltz is certainly one of those players that can frustrate fans, particularly defensively, but we've seen already this season that he scares teams. If he's on the wing opposition full backs will think twice about getting too far forward in support of their own wingers. And we saw last night that if we do get overrun down the wing Johnson won't be afraid to change it early on.

In my days in the Oldham Sunday League, whenever we told a winger to get back and help defensively, there was only ever 1 reply, 'Not my effing job!'

We soon concluded that it was best if they never ever came near to our own penalty area! Get Sidney on and tell him to hit the bye line every time.

  3. Excellent result, we've played 10 away games, and only 7 at home. So if we can make BP a fortress then we have a great chance of sniffing around the play offs

very true slider and our next 3 games are all at home to 4th division teams, well Bratford really are!

  4.

That team looks good to me. Unlucky for Charlie Mac but Rooney and Philliskirk played so well together against them last time that those two would edge it for me.

I'd play Schmeltz on the right with Lanzoni behind him or on the left with Grounds behind him. But not on the left with Mellor backing him up, we'd be too exposed on that side imo.

I tend to agree with that as perhaps Philly might not need a rest plus anybody in front of Mellor (who must play left back) might leave us exposed unless its Dayton

  5. He has to start Schmeltz for me, they were :censored: scared of him last time and their fans thought he was a world beater. Could also see MacDonald and Rooney starting this one and him resting JCH & DP however that would be 3 changes coupled with Mellor for Mills and Lanzoni/Brown for Kusunga. Would LJ make 5 changes for a match? I know he likes to tinker...

2 Changes are enforced and I think that we can all see Rooney and Mac starting to give the front 2 a rest to get them ready for the 3 home games.

Sid for the new lad would be the only shock or maybe not such a shock really! He does have the speed and skill to be quite lethal, lets see it!

I really do believe that Sid needs games and we should put up with his lack of defensive attributes in exchange for all he offers going forward

  6. I like Lanzoni and I'm not a fan of Mellor at LB, but I think the key at the moment is keeping things settled. So Tarky and Grounds should stay as the CB pairing. After that Lanzoni at RB and Mellor at LB seems the most logical thing to do.

Totally agree with all of that! Lanzoni to play right back, Mellor not so good but can handle that LB position.

Overall I like Smith in midfield, most of all!

  7. Just back, agree with Metty up there. We had spells where we looked good and if a few balls had just creeped through we could have been out of sight.

Does look like it is starting to click, there is some steel in that team too, even though Gillingham were poor we've all seen us come out of these games feeling robbed as they get a late equaliser. Not today though.

Kusunga had to go, in the modern game you can't retaliate. Their lad should have gone too, we had been taking the mick out of them, Sid and Kusunga pulling little flicks and tricks and we had been time wasting a bit. The Philiskirk incident got their crowd wound up and it all got a bit heated, this lead to the challenge on Kusunga and the red card.

Yes probably true, but a terrible challenge is still a terrible challenge and, from the sound of things if there had been 2 reds, not many would be complaining. Its just that we all get sick of refs who don't know the game
  8. Show me where I've been negative, I'm just pointing out your mistakes/lies. And thanks for your concern but I have a good grasp of the English language and last time I checked scared and frightened meant pretty much the same thing.

You were negative in not replying to the point of the thread, being to get 3 points, which we did. 'Pretty much' the same but not what I said at all. You still have not mentioned the 3 points so perhaps I should say non-positive rather than negative!
