  1. been outstanding (by out standing that means STANDS OUT from the other 11 chaddy smoker) on his last 4 or 5 appearances.. many others will agree with this

Please don't patronise me by explaining the English language Kieran. Let us move forwards, if you are going to the match tonight count how many times Wes plays a pass forwards of more then say 5 yards and I will count how many times he passes to someone who is behind him or to a team mate who has more opposition players around him.

  2. hahaha exactly this... even if he has a great game but we lose it's "he played okay but id drop him and bring in an attacking midfielder, Kilkenny please" that same Kilkenny that left leeds to take a £10'000 a week wage at Bristol city!

Wes being :censored:e has nothing to do with any other player or that players wages, by the way how many great games has Wes had, None?

  3. I think that if a team has problems as we did in the first half but come out and correct that in the second 45, it might have a lot to do with the input of the manager and to say we 'sat back' is too simplistic, they were a very good team, comfortable in possession. In fact I think that they were the best team I have seen this season and will win the League BUT we could and perhaps should have beaten them, Onwards and Upwards! If only Wes would look to pass forwards at times.

  4. Personally I would build the team around Dayton in a central position behind the strikers as he can be almost unplayable in there. That along with Philliskirk's touch and awareness would mean we can actually create through the middle. You can't play Dayton centrally in a 2 so I'd go with wing backs who are clever on the ball and can retain possession.

    Rachubka

    Kusunga Tarky Grounds

    Winchester Mills

    Smith Weso

    Dayton

    Philliskirk McDonald

This only works if Mills signs for the rest of the season, but every single player is comfortable in possession. The 3 centre halfs give Smith & Weso license to push further up the pitch along with the option for one of them to hold and cover when we push Winchester and Mills right up when dominating teams.

You'd hope LJ is 'cultured' enough to deviate from 4-4-2

I did suggest 3 at the back recently on another thread as that back 3 are all really centre backs, Lanzoni too but he would get my vote, when fit, playing right wing back and I think that we should then contemplate replacing Wes with either Sid or CM to make it a 3-3-3-1 as Dayton & Philly are very adaptable. Flexibility is vital!

  5. Surprised by the high praise for Lanzoni. Whenever I've seen him he's looked to be ungainly on the ball and slow, though he adds much needed height and strength to the team. I see him as a M'voto type player; poor with his feet but a good football brain to compensate for that. If he plays at JYM's level for the season then he'd be a great find but I'm hesitant in rating him as 'class' at this early stage.

I think that Lanzoni looks absolute class, probably better at centre back but a natural footballer

  6. They really hate Kilkenny over there. Would gladly have him back in our first team. Hes the kind of player that everyone on this board is crying out for!

Not at all, I would like someone big and strong and a goal scorer, similar to the Orient lad, who scored against us, after trying to look like he never touched it!

6 Feet tall powerhouse, takes no prisoners, wins headers in both areas and in midfield and above all else shoots on sight. Kilkenny is on loads of money too!

  7. Even so smith read the situation properly and tracked the runner whilst the opposition was on the attack . It's what I'd expect of any central midfielder

But if the centre backs had been in the correct positions it would not have resulted in a scrappy shinned goal. And that runner was the centre forward who our centre backs should have been looking for, to nullify!

  8. Thank you Rob, that is very useful. I think that LJ realises that it is equally important to plan for the future as it is to get results now!

Hence he has been giving game time to Millar, Mellor and Winchester plus probably a few others to come. We will be OK this season.

By the way Fervid my parents brought me up to realise that if one has nothing constructive to say then one shuts one's gob.

  9. Dear me. If people think Rooney isn't good enough for us they are deluded. Look at our squad. We are :censored:e. We have done well to get him. He will chip in with goals, despite having players like Weso 'creating' for him. I can't see how we will end up with anyone any better, we haven't got a pot to piss in.

Shots on goal stats mean nowt. Unless we are missing clear cut chances then the stats can paint a false picture. JCH's garbage free kick will have gone in the shots figures.

I think there are a few on here who need to have a realistic view on our squad. We are in for a real struggle this season. Our main problems lie at the back for me.

Weso 'CREATING' shouldn't just have been in inverted commas, it should have been in capitals, underlined and in colour! Midfield is our main problem!
