  1. Very sad. A consistently pleasant and happy figure around the club. RIP Gordon.
  2. That's possibly the lowest "good enough for me" threshold anywhere, ever.
  3. Just to help May out a bit, Royal Ascot starts the day after the now postponed Queens speech so they better put it back at least a week. Her Maj won't be happy about reading out the latest policies on the advancement of creationism when she could be watching the Gold Cup.
  4. It's an unholy mess this. Queens speech delayed, according to Sky's political editor because they don't know what to write in it ?, pressure being exerted from within to move towards a softer Brexit from the Scottish Tories and others. The problem for May of course is that raises the prospect of Farage charging in from off stage (right) to mobilise UKIP again. Probably be a bit less stressful for her if she just resigned.
  5. Only one of the 2 major parties is likely to be seeking a new leader in the foreseeable and it isn't Labour. The poll this weekend that showed every possible Tory leadership candidate as being less popular than May was hilarious. They genuinely don't know what to do.
  6. While FPTP has strengths in terms of MPs working within and for local constituents looking at the numbers shows how unfair it is in terms of popular vote. it took an average 28k votes to elect an SNP MP, 29k to elect the government, sorry DUP, 43k to elect a Tory, 49k to elect a Labour MP and a whacking 197k to elect a Lib Dem. the Greens and UKIP racked up over a million votes and have 1 MP between them. I realise arguing for PR puts me on the same side as Farage and that's a bitter pill to swallow but the whole issue needs looking at again.
  7. It is remarkable, particularly with Timothy and Hill having resigned. Bad form to blame the advisers not the decision maker. We'll have to disagree on whether Labour can win though I think. The momentum (small m ?) would make a Labour victory in another election this year quite likely I think. That's why I think they'll cling on at all costs by pandering to crackpots to avoid having to go to the polls again.
  8. That's a fair point. Under Cameron the Tories actually introduced some progressive policies, same sex marriage for instance. I think, with hindsight, not even the Tory voters could deny that May's campaign was the worst by a PM in living memory. The manifesto was dreadful, there were too many u turns to count as it suddenly dawned on her that her strategy to be the even nastier party to attract the UKIP vote, whilst having a modicum of success, was alienating core Tory support in droves. She also underestimated Corbyn's campaigning ability despite watching him win the Labour Party leadership massively not once but twice. Her latest mistake is getting into bed with the DUP. Cameron would never have done it and some old school One nation Tories like Clarke and Soubry will be holding their noses pretty hard when the go into the division lobbies with them. The stench may become too much fairly quickly.
  9. I think he's asking if you're happy with a minority government propped up by anti abortionist homophobes.
  10. To be fair to May she did warn of the possibility of a coalition containing terrorist sympathisers. She was right on that.
  11. DUP just described on Radio as the political wing of the 17th century ??
  12. Sky News - "May trying to form a government" Sub text "but not as hard as Boris" ??
  13. Why am I still up? Tory responsible for the second longest suicide note in history loses in Ipswich. Ha, ipswich, Ian Marshall etc.
  14. Hee hee - not wrong there. I go back to Readfearn's penalty and THAT will never be beaten. If you asked me to take a Labour victory over that I would say no. Some things are bigger than politics ?
  15. I'm going to bed too if I can find it.... To be continued.....
  16. They'll still be strong enough to prop Jezza up as PM ?
  17. Swindon's in Wiltshire, no? Tory Bastards wouldn't go near the place except to the County Ground maybe :-)
  18. 10% swing in Battersea. Farage admitting Corbyn taking votes from UKIP. Extraordinary
  19. That'll do me. The young will realise they do have a voice.
