  1. Crossley injured in stoppage time but staying on.# Full time 3-2.
  2. Craig Davies is tearing them to pieces. Stanley can't live with him.
  3. Your wish is being granted Accrington 2 Latics 3 (Wolfenden)
  4. Gotta feeling it was Blackpool at home season before last. 0-1 down and won 3-1 with Beckett hat-trick. Two quotes from tonight's commentators "Crossley's come off his line for it. He'll get a nose bleed if he comes much further" "Gregan's looking very clumsy again. That's another free kick."
  5. I work with two Leeds blokes. Neither could understand why they let Gregan go and reckoned we had a class act. I'll be having words.
  6. That explains the substitution. I really didn't think we'd miss Will Haining with Thompson & Gregan around. How wrong can you be?
  7. And we have had 3 shots to their 5, 0 on target to their 3. 'Nuff said. I'll still come back to listen to 2nd half though.
  8. Can't go along with that. Shez can't get out there and do it for them - wish he could. Oops - quoted wrong post - should have been reply to "Time to go King John"
  9. Interesting substitution 2 mins before half time - Wolfenden for Kalala
  10. Oh my God Accrington Stanley 2 (Proctor pen. 29 mins) Latics 0
  11. Paint Pot Trophy Latest Accrington Stanley 1 (D'Sane - 8 mins) Latics 0 Surely we've gotta come back into this one.
  12. I stand corrected sir. It was indeed Mr Henry. If that had been given, I think we would have gone on to win it and appear in both finals. Europe was a distinct possibility and I remember Cloughie, bless him, advocating Latics and (I quote) their wonderful warm supporters going into Europe. I may have slightly misquoted him, but that was the gist of it. Heady days, and they WILL come back. Oh yes, and one of the many other reaons I hate Man Ure was Sparky's bloody equaliser in 1994.
  13. Ah, but what about that semi-final replay the same season against Man Ure - and Stitch's belter off the bar that beat Laighton all ends up, came down behind the line and back out. Fantastic game and proud to be a Latic. Pinch me? I still am.
  14. Precisely. I said that the thread had thrown up some interesting debate. Opinions are what makes this such a good board but you may have missed my point. In a lighthearted way (for a touch of humour and gentle ribbing makes it even more enjoyable imo) I was trying to illustrate that the majority of our opinions were realised with Taylor AND Liddell being involved, although not in the way that everyone had predicted.
  15. Ahem. Listened to LW commentary yesterday and thought I might be permitted a BOAST that Liddell didn't make the starting line up as predicted, but it sounded as though Taylor was pretty anonymous and Liddell made a world of difference. There have been interesting views on this thread and, depending which way you view the outcome, most were accurate........... ......... except the Mr Headbands suggestion that Mr Allott would make way.
  16. ......... hence Sheffield United's relegation. Not going too well for some of Yorkshire's clubs at present....... Bradford, Rotherham
  17. It has to be Liddell who drope out for me, but not because of anything other than his lack of pace. He's been great for us but he's turned 33 now and I believe that we have a much pacier line up than last season. Taylor and Davies have frightening and I can see those in midfield getting forward a hell of a sight faster than, er, who's that bloke who went to Donny. I can't go along with the "Liddell in the hole" theory either. With midfielders playing a more forward role (Shez wants an even more attacking approach - see tonight's Chron), Lidds is not the man. Don't get me wrong, he's still a great player to have around, but mainly off the bench now. Shez will sort it, no doubt about that and we will all be behind every one of 'em, no matter who he picks. 3-0 tomorrow, Ricketts (2) and Davies.
  18. Thanks for everything, Charlie, especially that 75 yarder. Good luck with the coaching.
  19. Great research, Mark. Good stuff. Just a thought - if they included a cricket section, who the hell did they play? There must have been other teams or, if not, it's little wonder that cricket isn't associated with Italy.
  20. Fantastic news about Kilkenny. Never thought we'd get him after it had dragged on this long. And isn't a midfield maestro like Shez just theman to get the best out of him. Spot on about Wood. I would like to see midfield of Kilkenny, Kalala, Allott and Taylor with Macca / Liddell to come off the bench. Just need a quality left back (and back up) and we're gonna frighten a few teams this season. And if this laptop freezes up again, I'm gonna frighten it!! I can see me going missing for a while soon.
  21. Thank God they DIDN'T include away kits. And I agree (as you can see below on each of my posts) the red and blue hoops were hideous. It didn't look any better when Newcastle tried it as an away kit.
