  1. Yeah...got to say, that out to be a) pretty much expected even though unwanted and b.) a bit of a mismatch. Oh well, well done the Cubs for getting this far. Next up...come on the Rockies!!!
  2. I get what you mean, but for me , he'd be more of an attacking midfielder that roams the line of our attacking 3rd, rather than a man in the middle, getting up and down the pitch. Or....maybe use him from the bench in that position if we can't unlock a team.
  3. Yeah, Shez tried it 2 or 3 times in pre-season. At Clyde he moved there later in the game and looked handy, but ok, it was only Clyde. But we saw him there last season once or twice briefly in games. Shez seemed to be eyeing Lids up as the man who'd play in place of KK (as it took till the last day of pre-season to get him.) So I find it odd that when KK was injured, Shez didn't move him into the middle. As it is, I definitely would be trying it now. Yeah, we may be lighter in the middle defensively but hopefully, the back line is solid enough to cope now and KK can do some of the tackling that a CDM would.
  4. Plenty of my thoughts on this one, on the Ricketts thread. I still think Lids has a place in a starting XI, preferably though behind the front two. Some games last season, he was moved there and looked useful. Most notably the Northampton home game...just couldn't pick them off, Shez made the move and it paid off within 30 seconds. As a right winger though...you're spot on...9/10 he passes the ball backwards into midfield and the defence have plugged up any gaps our attack has created.
  5. Agree with quite a lot of what you've said. The only thing I'm not sure about is the "cameo" role bit on Taylor during games. He's been moved sometimes (in losing situations) onto the right and been asked to go and save us. He hasn't and hasn't looked comfortable there. But we know what he can do there, as we saw it in his early days in the first team. If Taylor is moved, he needs a few games to get his head back on playing on the right. It must be a complete reversal in thinking going from the right to the left....so if we do try it, he'd need a little time. Lids meanwhile, would go into midfield with KK for me. KK would have to sit a little deeper and tackle a bit more.
  6. Worrying ain't it....but surely they weren't as bad as Walsall the other week? I can't get my head around how some can't see that things aren't right though. As tho, without changing anything, all will come together. Because it won't. Also, said the same about Hazell the other day, on ISZ. If he hasn't got anyone sniffing around, ideally it'd be nice to do that. Could backfire though and to be honest, we need him at the mo.
  7. Has been fun, ain't it Be interesting to see the turnarounds now....would prefer the Rockies to knock it in tonight tho....if it goes to tomorrow, the pressure (which they've never really had, due to always being the chasing side) will be squarely on them for once. Rather they knock it home at first chance. Could see a coupleof 2-2's from the other 3 games. I think the Cubs will rally tonight and hopefully take it back to Arizona (and win, but think that'll be a step too far.) NYY always have a rally in them, so that's not over yet. I reckon Boston will win it on the road though. Come on the Cubs and the Rockies tonight! PS Gutting about the recording! Don't know if ya can download it, but the last inning was tense....especially the winning moment...can't throw a ball or he'll walk in the winning run, so must strike him out,,,Hafner takes advantage of the situation and singles...brilliant stuff!
  8. Yeah, I did (the ball bobbled did it?...lol.) Hey and guess what, he also did the full back once 3 days earlier vs Crewe...just the once...if he does it more often, then I'll retract my view that he should be played as a winger. He doesn't usually even try taking them on....I wondered if he'd been given a "run bonus" for trying it If he does it more often, beats more full backs, then I'll say he should play there (seems to be trying these things now Smalleys been pushing...coincidence?) Lids (and Taylor)....frustrating....maybe we'll see the best of Lids now his contracts running out and he's going to have competition shortly. Hope so!
  9. Makes me laugh....your comment is self-defeating.... If it was soooo loud and great in the NSM, you wouldn't be able to hear the Chaddy. That's not your point though, is it? Your point is just saying "we couldn't hear the Chaddy!" Sort your own stand out so that you won't be able to hear the Chaddy for singing yourselves and stop with that "we could barely hear the Chaddy End all night". Sat in the Chaddy the noise was excellent....I couldn't hear anything from the NSM because of the atmosphere
  10. I actually said Lids' attitude had changed last season. Not that his legs had gone. His effort wasn't there in the 2nd half of last season...which is why he got dropped....suger coat it however you want with 2006 Aug-Dec stats. As for this season, yep, his legs have gone. More willingness to do things, but he CANT BEAT HIS MAN....none of this s.h.i.t about him not having to! Not seen todays goal, but I'm betting he'll have cut inside today....like Taylor does on the left, and taken a shot (problem with Taylor is either tackled immediately or he shoots high and wide) I'd rather Lids did that from the right every time coz Lids has the range, rather than this trademark pathetic pass back into midfield allowing defences to fill in, which has become his norm. If he's going to take it on himself and shoot more, I'd like that. Very very much so....but he ain't a RW anymore, coz HE CANT BEAT HIS MAN. Lids should be behind the front two....then he'll get more chances to shoot from Ricketts' knock downs and score plenty more and set plenty more up!!! And no, not saying Taylors played better than Lids either. And yet, he's still assisted a few goals. The wings are the problem....it ain't anti-Lids (or else I wouldn't be saying, stick him behind the front two).....it's sort the 1-dimensional, opposition assisting, attacks we make out!
  11. WTF??? I just did tell you....in the post, you just replied to!!! "Add to this, the only reason Davies is finding himself out there IMO, is coz of the completely regimented carbon-copy attacks we produce every single time down the wings. It goes.... Ball down the wing....to Taylor, he can't go past on his left foot so cuts in towards his marker, is tackled, falls over, ball needs recovering, Davies goes out to do so. Or ball down to Lids....he can't beat his man, so he gets to edge of attacking 3rd....waits for back up....nearest man....yes, you guessed it, Davies!"
  12. Liddell had 17 assists up to January the 2nd last year Jeff (I know that, because Lidslovers were ramming it down our throats when we started to wonder what was up with him weeks later and this stat kept being trotted out).....only added another 2 for the rest of the season! So that's a total of 2 in 2007 so far, fantastic! You happy with that? I ain't, so will bloody well say it Also....I've said where he should be being played....behind the front two, Lids would be far better for the team. He should've been played there when KK was injured (just like Shez had tried him in preseason.) As for "turn this 'supposed' slagging off of Ricketts, into your own historic "slagging off" of Lids"....poor line matey! Must do better!....It's part of a package called SERVICE....ya know, that thing the wingers are meant to give to our strikers? You got it, Lids (no service) and Taylor (little service).
  13. WHAT A GAME! Awesome pitching, cagey as owt....and what a finish....how much more exciting can a game get? Scores are level, bottom of the 11th, bases loaded and the count is 3 and 2!!! Hafner singles and knocks in the win for the Indians 2-0 up....be tough when they go to the Yankees, but at least if all else fails, they can win it at home now! Well done Cleveland!
  14. Interesting little start to tonight NYY-Indians game...Home run putting NYY ahead, Indians trying to nibble the lead back...just left one stranded at 3rd base in the bottom of the 3rd. Come on the Indians! EDIT: How frustrating....into the 8th Inning....NYY, 2 hits all game, 1 run....Indians, 7 hits, no runs, several on base strandard!!! Come on guys, get em in! EDIT: Back in the game! Come on Indians...1-1 in the bottom of the 8th. EDIT: Haha....commentator then....."listen to this crowd folks....it's like an English Premier soccer match!".....fancy that, of all the comparisons that a US commentator could've made!
  15. Lol..... http://www.football-league.premiumtv.co.uk...0710337,00.html
  16. Shez dropped Lids last season for playing gash. He knows his legs have gone. Shame he was on 3yrs, coz I reckon Shez would've got rid otherwise. But he's stuck with him on his nice fat wage. Which he's earned for about 3mths of a 3yr contract. Can't wait till Smalleys fit...was gutted when he was injured at Burnley....gave Lids a reprieve because it looked likely he was about to cement that as his place. Ironic (or is it?) that Lids has since improved since that game. Not enough for me though. Lids' behind the front two has opened locked doors for us when tried there once or twice. No problem with trying him there....that position will suit his football brain (which he has got) and suit his legs too.....but he's fairly ineffective on the right, Taylor is on the left and the reasons are pretty clear to see for me. Makes us easy to defend against, when playing half capable defences....hence not a shot on target on Tuesday, not breaking down 10 men Southend and looking obvious for a few other games this season. Just hoping that Chelts defence is like Walsalls and Crewes....but playing the better sides in this division....we're going nowhere near the top end of the table unless we sort out the wings. I just can't understand how you don't think there's a problem there! Oh well...
  17. That's the best thing about the tannoy system at BP!!! Every time they read the scores out, they're normally wrong!
  18. Lol....Totally agree! Erm...which is why I'm saying put Taylor in his right position.... Taylor cuts inside on his right...yeah...and then runs flat into a defender. Said all this before about Taylor numerous times. He shouldn't be cutting in, he should be getting past his man and whipping it in. He can't put that cross in on the left....simple as. Because a) he veers towards his marker as he runs down the left coz he can't control the ball at pace with his left, so gets stopped or b.) coz he can't cross it with his left if he ever does finally beat a man. Anyone who thinks Taylor is a LW, above a RW....well, they've not a clue! Stick him on the right, then he'll do it. Did it before he got shifted and will do it again if given a run there. Moving Taylor is one of them things I thought Ronnie was stupid for doing and then couldn't believe when Shez followed on with it....and still can't! As for stats, erm, you want to compare a kid coming through, playing out of position to Liddell? Lol....very fair! At a guess for 2007, I'd say their stats are probably identical.....well done Lids.....for keeping up with a kid who's out of position! Impressive!
  19. For me, it ain't off topic. It's players like Lids and Taylor and the midfield who aren't playing to Ricketts abilities. Which I would've thought that's what Shez wants. And that about "not having to beat his man" peeerrrrleeeeaaaassseeee!!! If there's a written rule book about how to play as a winger, that's probably number 2 behind point 1. Point 1 being to execute the cross.....which sometimes he does. Very, very few assists during 2007 though. Says everything to me. He's improved this season though, compared to the way he ended last season. But if he can't beat his man, he shouldn't be in the position IMO. Taylor can't as that ain't the wing he's gone through his career playing on. Lids can't coz he....can't! As for Lids-watch tomorrow....not making it tomorrow unfortunately. Decided to save my pennies for them 5 away games in 17 days.
  20. To be honest, I've never really understood why we don't get coverage more on Radio Lancs...being in Lancashire and all that! Maybe the club should approach that station and ask for coverage.
  21. Lol, we need two seperate phrases then to fill each category. I'd class the 2nd lot you mean as the "apathetic wan***s!"
  22. Eh? He was superb when he first started for us on the right. Then to fill a gap, he got switched to the left and stayed there. Any time, mid-game he gets switched over back to the right (very rare, if it happens) as he ain't played it for god knows how long, it's gunna take a few games to get used to playing there again. Taylor on RW is a must if the team is to go anywhere. Otherwords, we're treading the waters of mediocrity IMO.
  23. Taylor can't put a decent ball in from the left winger, coz he ain't a left winger. Should be on the right. For me, that's a no brainer. Then that leaves solving who to put on the left. Maybe worth trying Davies. Rather we went with Bert though and Lomax brought back from Dale. Agree that Lids is showing more willingness later, IC. Even has made 1 run (woo! ) in each of the last 2 games to try and beat his man...which he has...see, maybe ya can do it Lids!...The 2nd of which vs Leeds, he should've shot from and scored (the old Lids at Sheff Utd or Wigan would've).....wtf was he doing? So, so, frustrating. But that's the one word that sums up his tenure at BP, for me.
  24. I hoped that from my phrase "slight flickering of interest" you'd guess that I meant they might come to 1 or 2 games a season. And listen for updates on the radio for the rest. Now they don't get updates, I can see the apathy taking a stronger hold and killing off any of that "flicker" left.
  25. Or buy Latics World! Diego...was thinking myself that it might get a few bums off to BP....but then thought, nah, don't be silly! Just be another hundred or two who's slight flickering of interest, wanes and dies away
