  1. "There's a fear factor when we play at home because the fans do get on our backs quite quickly, but it was deserved today and we gave them nothing to shout about."

So he's saying that today, for a change, the fans were right to get on the players backs. But the other times they were not?

He clearly is having a go at fans.

  2. We can't blame Corney this time. He signed an ambitious coach who built his own squad. Again no bite in front of goal.

We signed a guy who'd never managed, who few had heard of. His pedigree was only enhanced by the progress of NI at the Euros. How much of that was him and not the manager?

He then signed a few Scottish league players and a few players who couldn't get into other league 1 teams.

People had blind optimism when Dazzler came. What evidence really demonstrates that Robinson is a far better appointment?

  3. So, Corney has told a random fan he bumps into in the bank "Ive just put £140k into the clubs account"?!

I believe the poster, he sits near me and is a genuine latics fan. I believe that's what he was told.

Even if it is true and Corney was not lying, it means payments are late. It means the club is acting hand to mouth. It is not a good sign.

I don't believe any of it because we have already been told by the trust rep and others that the budget has been increased, so why would Corney need to put in £140k?

  4. Who could have guessed that the relegation favourites with a rookie manager and a team of strangers might not be taking the league by storm?

Who would accept a rookie manager (is this the same guy who's been described as a key target / a motivator / tactician) and a team full of strangers (who are all better than Kelly / Holloway etc) would be a perfectly acceptable set up and no reason to level any criticism at the club?

You're contorting your statements into a complete tangle just to avoid accepting that things are not currently working.

  5.

Why? I haven't accused, and am absolutely not accusing, anyone of anything. I just don't think that anyone who has been linked with taking over the club recently would be suitable. In the same way that I don't consider David Cornell to be a suitable replacement goalkeeper for Connor Ripley, for example.

    Backtracking.

  6. Do you not think you are worrying abit too much?

That truth you seem to be looking for might actually be quite boring? And that the north stand is neither a great money making machine for the club jet propelling us forwatd or a white elephant but something that makes the stadium nicer and helps the club in a small but sustainable way financially over a long period of time or is that story just to boring for you all.

How are we actually doing as a club over the last 4 years?

Do you think it's all good?

I'd like to see some hope, because we are losing supporters every year and there's a risk that the club dwindles away.

Part of that requires secure finances and plans to move forward. The way the construction dragged (and still does) and the lack of completion (and un-used space) doesn't fill me with confidence.

  7. I've said before - it was a conversation. The one where he said the budget had increased and everyone said it was bollocks.

It's good to get this, as it's the sort of info others have said we can never be told.

Is this actual current income or projections?

I've no recent knowledge of commercial rental rates, maybe others do, but those levels seem high given that the SD deal including naming is about £250k per annum. The gym will bring in another amount, but what else is currently coming in? OEC don't appear to be generating enough business to make profits to add another £250k

  8. Thanks for the business lesson and the insults. Enjoying this 'debate'. Your question was unanswerable. Shall I tell you why I used the word "feel" earlier? It's because I don't know the facts and I'm honest enough to say so. Do you know what the turnover of the OEC is?

I've got a question for you, one you should be able to answer without random guesswork, what are you doing about it? You're clearly very angry about this and believe the club you care about is being chronically mismanaged. So, other than pissing and moaning on the internet, what's the plan to bring about change?

Have you and other like minded business experts laid out your findings and questions and contacted Corney and asked for a meeting? Or contacted Simon Brooke and asked for a meeting with him and Corney?

You've clearly moved forward, now being able to take on board the lessons I've given you so far, but you're still struggling with a few things.

Firstly, I'm not angry, but I am concerned that the club has spent 20 years in the same division and attendances have declined throughout that time.

Other than that, yes, I have emailed the trust. The email came back as undeliverable.

  9. Just tried to do the calcs. But without the exact number of trust members I can't do it. Sorry.

Great work. Hey, why don't you tell me how what you "feel" will make the club a much better, like, sort of, thing. Hey it's all fluffy and nice in pretend world, where money doesn't matter. And like the next guy says, they are queuing up to throw money into the club without any return. Dream on sugar plum.

Or maybe it's £340k a year to repay £6m and takes 25 years.

You'll need £340k of profit btw, not just income.

  10. My feeling on the subject is that despite the issues we've had getting to this stage and the ongoing issues with finishing it, that we're better off having the stand than not.

I also feel that despite everything that's happened getting to this point that we're better off playing and management wise than this point last year.

I've never once said there's no problem, no concern, no issue. I don't think anyone has for that matter.

Explain how long it takes to repay £6m from profit.

Or just assume it'll be ok.

Go on, have a go. Do a few calcs. But remember there's no additional gate revenue.

  11. It's not really a debate. There's those that are convinced Corney's a crook and the club is doomed and those that aren't so sure. The latter are then essentially described by the former as being deluded happy clappers.

Some are sure there's no problem, no concern, no issue.

You paint those with concerns in a very extreme way. You don't have to think someone is a crook to not believe that they may be incompetent or even don't share your desire for the club.

Do you believe the new stand wipes it's own feet financially?

£6m of investment to repay? Plus interest? From what additional revenue and against what costs? Without any additional gate money.

  12. It's turnover for the club. Don't get hung up on the 'Latics related' stuff - that's the OEC which is a tenant of the club who also pay rent. A portion of these rents go to the playing budget.

If they pay a set rent it means little other than the sustainability of OEC.

However I would suggest that only a FA member can hold FA events, therefore any income from the event would be club related and should go to OAFC. I'm sure the trust will confirm this via their director who is on the club board.
