Eardley got a stupid booking that now sees him suspended, as did Haining who brought down Hubertz after letting him control the ball (Instead of making the tackle early). Rocky wasn't fabulous today, but no worse than any of the other ineffectual midfielders. Porter missed a sitter and had a real off day, Macca also fluffed the chance of the season, and Taylor only made his final ball count on two occasions. Liddell was quiet and far from sharp, Edwards was just ok - as was Stam. Boundary Park received its usual selection of bad officials from the Football League and Millwall employed bullying tactics which Latics should have used against them - The referee could easily have shown them a couple of reds if we had wound them up enough. All in all there was too much long ball when someone like Wellens would have demanded the ball at his feet, and spread it down the channels (But we all know why he wasn't there don't we ? - another stupidly acquired red card). Warney was our best player by a long way. A much better performance is needed against Vale, with less panic at the back, more commitment in midfield and the ball on the deck more up front.
