Standing section in the new stadium?

Recommended Posts

I am a firm believer that a standing section should be incorporated into the new stadium, it would give people a cheaper option to watch the team and could also play its part in attracting more fans. This could also be marketed as providing the people with a different footballing experience which cant be found anywhere in the local area, I would like to think that this could help bring some atmosphere back into the club and on match days (something that doesn't exist at City or United). Does anyone agree?

You can't have standing at football. It's the law that all new stadiums must be all seater.

As long as common sense is still ignored in reference to standing at football stadia it will never be allowed.

So despite it being an excellent idea it will never happen.

I wonder if it would be possible to petition to become the guinea pig for safe standing? On second thoughts scrap that it wont be allowed. :disappointed:

One simple reason why it's unlikely to happen, whether as a "Guinea Pig", trial or whatever is that it would be the perfect place for some of the numpties to hide from the cameras more readily so they can cause more trouble.

Seats make people spread out more and therefor make it easier to pin point trouble makers.

If it was an option I'm sure TTA would be taking it - it costs a lot less to make a stand with no seats than a stand with seats.

I'm afraid that wouldn't happen though, my guess is that the standing prices would be the same as a seat now and the seat price would rise!!

Aren't Morecambe using safe standing in their new ground with the option of seats if needed?

Or is this out of date?

6 months by the look of it, seem to remember something similar being posted by GermanLatic if my memory serves me correctly on stadiums in Germany......

If that is a reason for not allowing standing then those in charge are seriously clutching at straws.
