I'm quite sure that the idea of the poppies are what they represent, just as every tv presenter, majority of people out and about and everybody attending services up and down the country will also be wearing today! At one time, it was assumed on the Saturday that you would be observing the national two minutes' silence on the Sunday morning; and that on the Sunday, you had already observed said silence before the match.
