smartzatart
Gutted but we showed in the first half that we're excellent when in the ascendency. A culmination of errors both on and off the field cost us today, it's a blip, two points lost and we go to Dale in a great position!! Tonight is not the night for optimism, we have every right to moan and feel pessimistic. We have to pull out a performance equal to our first half performance, for 90 minutes on Saturday if we have a chance of winning. Dale are good at home, even tonight they came from behind to get something. They are very resilient and Keith Hill will have them even more fired up for Saturday. I said a draw would be a good result. But now, only a win will make up for tonight. Edited November 23, 2010 by PlayItLivo

The team played worse than that on Saturday, but no substitutions were made and three points were in the bag. It's all part of the learning curve the management and players are on. It's four years since we won four consecutive league games so that's an indication of how difficult it is to do that. I'm convinced that, if they'd played another five minutes last night, Latics would have lost. They didn't and most people would have taken four points from the last two games. One point off 6th place and three points off third place, compared to second place if the collapse hadn't happened last night. Whichever way you look at it, such a lofty position would be surprising with the way the team has played in most games this season. But if the squad retains the spirit it has got and the willingness to improve, a top half finish should be assured and the play-offs may be possible. Rochdale will be like a cup final and everyone of the squad needs to be fully up for it. The crucial thing is not to give the ball away easily. If possession is kept, confidence grows and we have enough options in the squad to make the resultant superiority count. Repeatedly passing to the opposition heaps on pressure and weakens the spirit, making the team vulnerable, as was shown last night. Patience is a virtue. The Rome Mill wasn't built in a day. It's a Marathon not a Snicker. There will be more dips but the Latics roller-coaster is going onwards and upwards under Dickov!
