Grody
Hello to all Latics fans I have a small business making bespoke cufflinks for people and I've been asked to make some for a longstanding Latics fan. My problem is that he's asked for them to be, and I quote, "Tangerine and Blue hoops like they used to play in when I went with my Dad". I'm guessing this might put the period at say the mid 60's perhaps??? I've searched for details of any strip that resembles this description but no joy. I'm throwing myself on your mercy to help find: 1) is his hoops description accurate or is his age affecting his memory, and 2) if true, does anyone have a colour image from which I could get the correct shades of tangerine and blue? These have varied over the years when the two colours were used together. Thanks in advance for any info you can pass on.
Laticsbiffo
The only time I can remember Latics playing in hoops was during the mid nineties and they were puke inducing blue and red hoops!!!! Here's a link to all our historical kits: Historical sometimes hysterical Latics Kits! Hope this helps

Tangerine was a Ken Bates imposition when he was Chairman.
Grody
Thanks for the replies. After your confirmation that the "hoops" thing didn't makes sense, I've made some discrete enquiries (these cufflinks are supposed to be a surprise) and the mystery has cleared. Apparently, his memory, it now seems, was of the striped scarf he wore when going to matches with his Dad! The team strip at that time was the Orange shirt/blue shorts - so thats what I'm making him in glass cufflinks. Not sure if I'm allowed to post pics on here but, if I am, I'll post some when they are finished. I'm open to making any others anyone wants, in any other colour combinations. Thanks again. Grody, fancy posting a photo of said cufflinks, once they're done?
Diego_Sideburns
Tangerine was a Ken Bates imposition when he was Chairman. A fan of Latics bumped into ex-player George Sievewright in Lincoln last week. George was reminiscing and said the tangerine kit was introduced by manager Jimmy McIlroy, because he was a Belfast Orangeman.
