3rd Round Ties since dropping into the 3rd Tier

Recommended Posts

Missed out on Chelsea (A) twice after we lost a second round replay to Posh 0-1 in 2000 and then when we lost 1-0 in the 4th round v Hudds in 07/08. Today, karma will be restored when we draw Chelsea away again…..

I remember us playing Chelsea at boundary park, was that in the 4th round?

No read my post, 3rd round 98/99 mate. Played superb until Alf went off, young Swann came on and Vialli twice showed his brilliance. Should have had a pen at 0-0 though when Desailly cleaned Dux out when about to tap in Whitehall's shot that hit the post, hit De Geoy on the back of the head and rolled along the line. Also memorable for Babyaro punching gob :censored:e Wise's free-kick into the net and 'Hot Dog Gate….' Top afternoon at BP and found a score in the Marston!

Got The programme from the United game in 1951, worth a few bob that. The Wolves game seen colour footage of that (before and after the game, and our goals Bebbington 7? Scored one? 2-0 weren't we until late on? Got the home and away programmes from that tie as well) when gallery Oldham had the Latics exhibition on a few years back.

And the Cambridge game, wasn't the 2-2 the first FA Cup Tie on a Sunday?

Yes the Cambridge was the first Sunday game in Cup.

The Wolves home match had over 24000 at BP, Bebbington got both goals and big battles in the Chaddy with Wolves fans....

West Ham the year before had 25000, Johnny Bollands bwtween by an 80 yard shot that bounced on the frosty pitch over his head. I was in the Chaddy and it seemed like slow motion as he dived in vain to try and claw it back. Mind you West Ham had a decent team in 66, ask the West Germans a few months later !
