GuyGermanLatic
You can't have a night like that and not be somehow mobbed in the next morning's papers. Here's a round-up of what a few big 'nes are saying about the Latics defeat. Only 1 out of the 3 doesn't mention Jose Baxter is an Evertonian and ends it with an unfortunate try for Latics instead of Baines' interview. The Telegraph "Oldham’s Matt Smith, a centre-forward so old school you expect him to be wearing a woolly jersey and hobnail boots" "Former Everton midfielder Jose Baxter hit the post immediately after Oldham conceded the first, but Premier League quality prevailed." "Smith’s headed goal from Jonathan Grounds’s corner turned out to be little more than an echo..." The World Game "Toffees ease past Oldham Athletic" "...ended Oldham Athletic's memorable run with a routine victory at Goodison Park." The Guardian "...it is never straightforward against the men from Boundary Park." "Everton, minus the injured Marouane Fellaini, struggled to find their rhythm as Oldham pressed relentlessly..." "But it proved his, and Oldham's, final meaningful act."
davegtt
At least the reporter from the Guardian watched the game.

Diego_Sideburns
The Telegraph After Baxter’s beautifully executed chip over Tim Howard hit the woodwork, Phil Jagielka’s clearance struck Gibson on the arm. Referee Michael Oliver deemed it accidental enough to ignore penalty claims. The official’s decision to penalise Oldham for a similar offence in the 34th minute smacked of inconsistency. Which is a very polite way of saying that Mr Oliver was crap. They weren't the only decisions he got wrong.
