Just had a new hard drive fitted and had to have Windows XP reloaded.......I've sorted just about everything to as it was but I have one really annoying problem, when I am scrolling up or down it scrolls in waves instead of a smooth motion....is there a setting I need to change and if so can anyone help?

My girlfriend had the same problem after reinstalling Windows - it turned out to be a problem with the driver for the video card. If you search for the latest drivers that should sort it

Sounds like your graphics card drivers need to be updated. Have you run Windows Update on it yet?

Go to the website of the graphics card manufacturer and download and install the most recent drivers for your card.

Alternatively, in the first instance, run Windows Update from the start menu and that may take care of it for you.

To add to the old man's initial query, there is also no sound whatsoever. Any help on that issue would be appreciated too!

Thanks!!

Again, probably need to update drivers - the ones for the sound card this time, of course.

In order to update the drivers can I obtain the name/type of Graphics card and sound card manufacturers from my computer screen?

Possibly. Try going to Control Panel > System > Device Manager.

If it's not there, have you got any of the bumf that came with them/the computer? Failing that, open the case and read if off the hardware itself.
