Looking to take a trip there with the other half middle or late October, staying a day or two either side of a match. Any tips? Is it best to book a package or flight and hotel separately? Do you get match ahead? Does it work out best to fly into Girona?

Ta for any advice.

Also, whereabouts in the ground's best to go? Looking at what people are saying on various forums the atmosphere in the south stand's pretty lively, is that our best bet?

Oh and I'm disappointed in you opinions4u. a week now and no instructions to book via playershare.

Err webshoppy thing.

Trains, planes, hotels and the like.

Click here, find your retailer (e.g. Hotels dot com) and earn some money for Latics to buy Messi or similar.

Hehehehehe. I've got the easyfundraising browser bar installed that asks if you want a donation to be made to playershare everytime you visit an eligible site cos I'm a superfan. I went to Gillingham away and everything.

Flight and hotel separately usually works out cheaper. Best to Fly into Barcelona but if Girona is particularly cheap there are plenty of buses to Barcelona.

We bought tickets at the train station but they were only playing Alaves who were bottom of the league at the time. If it's a bigger game it might be better to pay through the nose and get them online in advance.

On which note - don't bother anyway, it's :censored:e

Like watching football at the theatre.

Do an Espanyol match instead.

Eat and drink in El Born and Barrio Gotic rather than las Ramblas. Or anywhere away from the centre.

Go to the Cathedral at about 5pm if you're there on a Sunday - local Pavarotti types sing for nowt outside. Then eat at the basque tapas bar on the square there.

Lucky bastards.

Can't argue with the above. Think it's fairly easy to get in any match aside from the Classico. It's about 10 years since I went to see them. Just bought tickets for the middle tier a couple of days before the match (vs Betis). Thought the atmospehere was incredible just before the match started, then it went a bit flat (as Betis took a 3-1 lead) which perked up after the lino missed a massive offside (pelted with fruit and stuff) and then Barca came back and drew 3-3 in the last seconds. Never heard a roar like it.

I'd avoid the very top tier though. Miles away from the play.

And if you're a massive carnivore, hit a little tucked-away gaff called El Paraguay or something, near the bottom of the Ramblas. Literally half a cow on a griddle in front of you, eat it when it's ready. Nearly killed myself in there once.

Perfect, then!

This is the way forwards.

It's like doing away games at Gillingham and Hartlepool on consecutive Tuesday nights.

Thanks for the advice all. We had an amazing time, great place. The Cathedral is a must see in lifetime for anyone who likes that sort of thing, and we are both recovered God-fearers. The hipster quarter near the Ramblas was much better than the Ramblas for us, the latter did have an unwelcome edge and I wouldn't want to be there late on having had one over the eight. My advice to visitors would be to pick one thing to do each day and fit it in with lunch, dinner and loafing around. And take a young owl with you.

Cheers for the advice, all. Dad and his lad had a fine time.

Chaddy was a bit underwhelmed by the Camp Nou, but we found somewhere nearby where he felt more at home.

He did pretty much disgrace himself, to be honest.

So we persuaded him to stay at the hotel when we visited the Sagrada Familia rather than face torture at the hands of the Catalan police for blasphemy.

Definitely getting over to Barca next season. Family has an apartment about 40km outside and I visited camp nou regularly as a kid but not been for a fair few years. It will be a joy to watch Leo Messi in the flesh.
